Scandinavian Airlines, more commonly known and styled as SAS, is the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.[4] SAS is an abbreviation of the company's full name, Scandinavian Airlines System[5] or legally Scandinavian Airlines System Denmark-Norway-Sweden.[6] Part of the SAS Group and headquartered at the SAS Frösundavik Office Building in Solna, Sweden, the airline operates 180 aircraft to 90 destinations (as of December 2019).[7] The airline's main hub is at Copenhagen-Kastrup Airport, with connections to 109 destinations around the world. Stockholm Arlanda Airport (with 106 destinations) is the second largest hub, with Oslo Airport, Gardermoen being the third major hub of SAS.[8] Minor hubs also exist at Bergen Airport, Flesland, Göteborg Landvetter Airport, Stavanger Airport, Sola, and Trondheim Airport, Værnes. SAS Cargo is an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Scandinavian Airlines and its main office is at Copenhagen Airport.[9]
In 2017, SAS carried 28.6 million passengers, achieving revenues of 40 billion Swedish kronor.[10] This makes it the eighth-largest airline in Europe and the largest in Denmark and Sweden. The SAS fleet is composed of 180 aircraft consisting of Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Airbus A320neo, Airbus A321, Airbus A330, Airbus A350, and Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.[7] SAS also wet leases Airbus A320neo, ATR 72, and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.[11]
The airline was founded in 1946 as a consortium to pool the transatlantic operations of Swedish airline Svensk Interkontinental Lufttrafik, Norway's Det Norske Luftfartselskap and Det Danske Luftfartselskab of Denmark. The consortium was extended to cover European and domestic cooperation two years later. In 1951, all the airlines were merged to create SAS. SAS has been described as "an icon of Norwegian-Swedish-Danish cooperation".[12] On 27 June 2018, the Norwegian government announced that it had sold all its shares in SAS.[13][14]

Finnair is superior to SAS in many ways, it's a good thing that it showed in the end.
In the past, SAS was a much revered airline, I have no idea what happened when, but in the industry it is not so coveted any longer, whereas Finnair is reputed as excellent, at least by Western standards.
The fleet size and destination numbers didn't take into consideration important differences: Finnair is much superior to SAS in terms of variety of long-haul destinations (famously to Asia), and also SAS really has 3 hubs serving 3 nations, which is not comparable to Finnair which has only one. So, even if Finnair has less aircrafts in total, it has more as a hub, since the SAS fleet number is to be divided between 3 countries, with numerous smaller airplanes to cover a majority of short haul destinations for SAS, rather than a significant global network.
Also, the food presented was graded the same but was again not comparable, SAS was a cold breakfast tray with mainly packaged foods except for cold cuts and a few cubes of fruit, and Finnair was a hot meal that actually looked really appetizing for economy, and was more suitable for lunch or dinner. (Helsinki does have a fabulous catering, one of the best in Europe in my (other & unrelated) airline professional's opinion.
I like the concept of this video very much, but I hope further videos will be fairer.

Air China has about 30% share of SAS's stake. (both of them are Star Alliance). This could be one reason that SAS only flies to HKG, PVG and PEK, where as Finnair also goes to some regional cities like XIY and CDU.

As an norwegian im offend as you not included Oslo, Gardermoen and Stockhol, Arlanda. Copenhagen is the largest one, but Oslo and Stockholm are also hubs. So have to dislike you for lack of information.

Have you flown with both of them or what do you base your rating on? SAS service easily 4/5, infotainment 4/5, seat comfort 4/5 and food is 5/5!
One big difference on the meal service is bread. Dead cold or warm.

You cannot give points for both for seat comfort when Finnair doesn’t have Premium Economy in long haul and SAS has one of the top 5 Premium Economy seat in the world. Newly ranked by CN Traveler. The Business Class seat on SAS A350 is amazing compared to Finnair...

What is this? SAS has 3 hubs. Larger fleetsize and always biggeebthan Finnair therefore maybe more accidents? I dont know about the service - its hard to tell. I am a SAS gold member - fly 70 flights per year with them. I fly about 10 with Finn. I have the most cancellations/changes with Finnair - i would say SAS in Scandinavia!!
