    Welcome to BookTube! Dr. L's out there hearlding your arrival, and I dig what I've seen so far.
    Oh man, I might just be a lttle jealous of that Oxford Shakespeare. And I know I'm supposed to be involved in a Crichton group read around that time -- I guess Rising Sun is the one.
    Cool that you were able to get your vehicle going again. Afraid I drive a beaten, scarred monstrosity of a Ford F-150 that I'm starting to believe will never die. Or at least the dog allows me to conduct her around in the thing as she supervises my work day. I probably drove something less utilitarian in my "early days," but that's all been obscured by the mists of antiquity. Have a good one!

      @@BryanM.R.-prionic1 hey Bryan, thanks for the kind words! The more the merrier when it comes to the read along. I think that will be super cool.
      I remember my brother had a 97 ford ranger than just kept on goin even when he was in a position to buy a new car. Ended up selling it to a guy who rode his motorcycle 11 hours to get it, then chucked the bike in the back and drove off. I bet it’s still out there somewhere!

    I've been re-reading the Garret P.I. novels by Glen Cook; they're a nice change of pace from typical fantasy in that they're predominantly mystery stories that happen to be set in a fantasy world. While there is a contiguous story in the background of each consecutive volume, it's absolutely not necessary to read them all to enjoy them as they feel mostly self-contained in each book. If you've never heard of or read any of them, I feel like you could easily blow through one of them in a day or two as they tend to be on the shorter side!

    • @BookswithSam1
      @BookswithSam1  2 дня назад +1

      Thanks for the comment! Great recommendation, I do tend to like those self contained stories but having some character development overlap between book to book is good too. I’m sure some things spill over boom to book which is cool to pick up on.
      I did just make a video one some shorter books you could blow through in a couple of days, feel free to check that out if you need some other recs! I appreciate you being here

    Hello again :)
    I had to smile a little when you talked about your “boy toy”, as a girl I drive something like that too! :D
    My current book is non-fiction and it's about friendships between women. It's not very exciting so far, but it was a gift from my best friend....
    Tomorrow I'll probably make an exception to my rule (no buying books until my TBR is at zero) and treat myself to a few new ones. We'll see, maybe I'll read a second one in parallel afterwards.
    So far I've liked all the formats of your videos. If you feel up to it, a reading vlog would also be interesting.

      Love to hear of our car connection. It puts a smile on my face every day!
      A few new books could be just what you need to motivate you to finish up your work of nonfiction. I appreciate all the kind words on my videos, I was just thinking about a reading vlog style video. More to come on that one, need to figure out how to record it and whatnot as I am still new in this space. Always good hearing from you!

    Sam, you have a Fiesta ST? Very cool. Do you like it? I used to have an Integra GSR, intake, throttle body, manifold, headers, hi flow cat, cat back, coilovers, clutch and flywheel and a few more things. Got 2nd in an autocross once. Might look into the new Integra S eventually.

      @@VellaMagic good question! It definitely varies from day to day. Some days I read 0, some days I read 150+ depending on the mood. On average I would say I read 60-75 pages a day typically

      @@BookswithSam1 I noticed, according to your goodreads, you jumped straight into Stormlight Archive without reading anything else from Brando Sando first. Clearly based on your ratings you have loved the books. What made you jump into the series first particularly? And do you intend to read more from him?

    • @BookswithSam1
      @BookswithSam1  2 дня назад +1

      @ yeah I just jumped right in. Partly because I didn’t own any of his other books at the time, and partly because it is so popular and I hear so many good things.
      I do love that series and am itching to read Wind and Truth. Since then, I have acquired Mistborn era 1 and warbreaker, which I intended to read in due time.
      Looking back on it, it may have been better to maybe start with like Elantris or Warbreaker to get used to the world and his writing. Truthfully, I read the first 300 pages of Stormlight 1 like 1.5 years ago and stopped bc I was just too confused. But, in picking it back up again earlier this year it was so fun and I knew enough since I had read the beginning before to understand it much better this time.

    • @VellaMagic
      @VellaMagic 2 дня назад +1

      @@BookswithSam1 That's cool! The Stormlight Archive seems to be like his best work, so some of the early research I did before jumping into his writing was to start with something like Elantris or Mistborn. I'm currently 20% through the final book in the first Mistborn Trilogy. I've had a good time with it! Would recommend.
