- Thanks for watching , the 'normal' once a month ev sale with a variety of EVs will be the first week of every month.
This was interesting today (28th March 2024) as I'm seeing a rise in EV values !

Interesting stuff, JP. Prices seem to be climbing as electricity prices are falling. A tad gutted though. As you know I was hoping the Model Y would drop further and allow us to grab a bargain, but I think we'll have stick out the MG's to 200,000 miles.
It seemed somehow inevitable used EV prices would creep back up.... A 4 year old Fiat 500e sold for £14k.... wow, prices are climbing again.... That black Tesla, selling for £600 over book...
I used your fantastic service back in Oct 23 to get a 72 plate MG5 👍👍. Loving the car
That's great news Simon 😀 👍 thanks for your comments 👍
Super video, thanks Jonathan
Yep , I’ve noticed Tesla creeping up in price as I’m looking for a model 3 myself .
People who want or need an EV can't afford a new one so the nearly new EVs will have a bit of a Spring resurgence. I can't see it lasting as the 3 year old ex-fleet cars flood the market
Exactly right -- all 2021's Tesla on lease will flood the market starting mid year. Horrendous negative equity.
Which is why leasing is the wise thing to do !
Leasing? Never ending money pit. If your circumstances change you maynot be able to keep up the payments
@@onlyme972 That is precisely why leasing is not popular in my country, Switzerland. Only 20-30% of the new cars are leased, or purchased with a loan, much less for used ones. People save first and buy cash, as they like the peace of mind that comes with full ownership. You end up paying significantly less. And, as most people keep their car for many years (the average is 7-8 years, including the leased vehicle for which it is less. So for full owners, it is probably 8-10, but I can't find that number), depreciation doesn't bite nearly as much as on a 3 or 4 year-ild car!
And don't tell me that leasing shield anyone of depreciation... it is included in the leasing rate! Otherwise, the leasing companies would be short-lived!
We'll be looking to buy a LR Model 3 21 plate in August, hoping the prices come down to £20-21k for
CAP still reported a 2.3% drop on EVs in March. Perhaps their April figures will show an increase? Only anecdotal but retail prices at dealerships are still dropping substantially each week for EVs.
Retail prices at dealers are higher, and with huge overheads they have to shift stock.
This insight is showing values at the trade end of the market, and where most dealers source their stock !
Agree prices have increased since December. Any Tesla that's not white. I can't stand that colour on a Tesla
Great video. Interesting to see some of these prices rise but could it have anything to do with the end of the tax year and dealers spending their money rather than having cash in the bank?
Tune in next week for the next live auction ev sale , and we will see if Tesla values are still up after the 31st March
So many people are saying that the market for used EVs has fallen through the floor in the UK. But it does not seem to be the case. In my home country, Switzerland, it most definitely has not.
In a new product market, like EVs are, in which new prices are decreasing relatively fast, it is incorrect to calculate depreciation on the price originally paid, but on the price of an identical, or nearly identical new car... because that is the alternative the buyer has! On that metric, and according to the prices reached in the present auction, the depreciation on a 2-year old Model Y, with an average 17k miles, seems to be around 32%. Quite normal, is it not? And much better than what I experienced with the several BMWs I previously owned!
Having said this, I am no car-market expert... so, Jonathan, what is your opinion on the matter?
Hi very interesting video. Like you I have the E-Niro 4+ in the yacht blue with 21000 miles on. Autotrader say £18200 trade in I know the one you showed only had 16000 miles on it but would that account for the price difference? Are the Avg and clean prices are they similar to trade in?
Yes miles does affect values massively, it shouldn't with an EV , but its a decades legacy and mindset of the trade and public !
Always a good watch. Think some are still sliding down, look at old tech EV's like the first gen Mini, I-Pace and even Telsa S, just visit their car groups and hear owners bemoan continued depreciation. Will also be interesting to see the appetite for the Chinese brands like BYD.
Burn Your Driveway = BYD
Personally tesla should have allowed customers a choice of the highlands/3 and juniper/Y to have a cost option of stalks for the indicators. The new Y hopefully has this as an option as having no stalks means it wouod be a no no for me. Cheers
Hi Jonathan, can you explain a bit about auction cars with VAT Margin, and whether it affects private buyers through Reflex.?
Hi , i will do a future video on the difference between vat qualifying and vat margin cars at auction , basically the public pay the same on the hammer price ( plus fees of course ) 😉
Please lower auction volume a little next time...can only just hear your
Many say thats a good thing ! Noted though , thanks 😊
Indicator stalk-gate? People want the pre-Highland models?
Was just about to say exactly this. If I was buying a Tesla, I’d want the older model.
Noted….. Model Y with white interior
Thanks Boss 👍 😊
No they dont!
Why would anyone buy a grey coloured car, the same colour as the bitumen pavement ?
I am.pleased I can not sell.my ev. Going back to a diesel
"A little bit quicker, please *gentleman*..." Seriously? Where is this auction? The nineteenth century?!
