I just failed my physics final exam today. And I have to retake the class all over again. I cry like a baby I feel like a failure people don’t tell you how hard physics really is!!
I’m so sorry that happened to you. Physics is really difficult to grasp. You are NOT a failure girl. I got a good enough grade to pass the class, but lord knows I was struggling. I pray you prosper in your studies and do well the next time. Don’t give up on what you want. You got this! ❤️
@@Trejo.cierra thank you so much I really do appreciate it. ❤️❤️
I am currently taking physics and it is challenging for me as well. My course is fast track and it’s so hard to remember which formulas to use to solve problems
@@deshandao4946 Did you pass SPI yet ?
@@teshiapoole5450this scares me because I am a stellar student until math and formulas come into play..
1. blood test, CPR
2. scan everything
3. can't get perfect pic in one go
4. takes time -need to go through multiple motions
5. a lot of case studies , readings
6. a lot of physics
7. radiologists put a lot of trusts in you
I'm just exploring sonography as a possible new career after 15 years as a chef. I haven't made a decision yet but am leaning towards sonography and I really appreciate your videos. They're clear, informative, and you have a great smile and attitude. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that I could help!
You don't want to look into phlebotomy first as a first step into healthcare field, it's up to you though but I plan on going to sonography or respiratory therapist after 3+ of phlebotomy.
@@MrDookieBot I can’t decide between respiratory therapist and ultrasound. Help
@@molandasolage9483 not my place to say what you should you do, better to look into the fields. If you do research and find what you like then go from there. Peace be upon you ✌️
I’m only a sophomore in high school but I was always into sonography and this video helped me so much ☺️
I’m so glad I could help! You still have time, but right now is a great time to start figuring it out. Thank you for watching!
the trick to doing bp manually is raising the meter to 160 and then listening for the first sound and the last one ... trust me i hate doing bp manually too as a MA
Thank you! I’ll definitely try that next time!
Yes! Either listen for sound or look at the meter and watch for first tick and last tick
I’m planning on starting sonography school in the fall and after watching a couple of your videos, I’m sooo glad I found your channel. Your positivity shines through your videos and helps me see that if I put in the work, I can do it too. So thank you and keep up the great work 💕
Congrats on starting sonography school! I wish you the best of luck and you definitely can do it! It’s not easy, but it’s definitely worth it. Thank you so much💕
Thank you! 🥰
I wanted to go into nursing but before i went forward with it i became a CNA where youre at the very bottom. It made me switch over to sonography. I can handle all the bodily fluids, all my patients loved me BUT the responsibility the nurses had seemed extremely draining. And everyone i see do diagnostic specialties seem to love it and ive always loved learning about the human body. I start my dms program tomorrow! but im getting a head start on the corse material... wish me luck!!!🥰
I wish you the best of luck! You got this!!
This was very informative. Unfortunately it showed me that this is not the job for me lol. Glad I did research first.
Aww I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you find the right career for you. Research is the best thing that you can do to start. Good luck girly!
I wish I saw this before I’m in my classes and it’s stressful and difficult.
@@Emxvly.02I’m looking to start soon. Is it really hard ?
@@Lifeasrayy I think it is I mean it’s doable but it’s difficult.
Thank you for this. I am taking my RN prereqs, I’m in microbio now and just need Physio. But if I were to take physics I could also apply for sonography as well as Rad tech (don’t think you need physics for that though but with all my pre reqs these are programs I am eligible for) I’m still researching and the only scary part is the physics. I do hope I’m able to make up my mind but I’m leaning towards ultrasound, but also still need to look more up about rad tech! Thank you again!!
this information helped me make a life changing decision about my next step thank you so much!!
You’re welcome! So glad that I could help!
thanks for this great video!! very informational. fluids and smells are something i'm kind of nervous about haha.
I’m in clinicals right now and so far it hasn’t been too bad lol. Only with transvaginal ultrasounds, sometimes if they’re on their period, you can smell the blood, but it hasn’t been that bad so don’t be nervous!
I went through xray school first before ultrasound school, so i was already prepared for everything for ultrasound school.
Hello, I couldn’t help but ask why the X-ray program didn’t take? So much similarities with sonography, but what fo I know 😅 How different the sonography experience?
This was super helpful, I am very excited to start my sonography journey! I was also wondering what lipgloss you're wearing because it looks fantastic! Thank you!
Thank you for watching! Good luck on your studies, you got this! Thanks love💕 It’s a basic clear lip gloss, you can find them at the beauty supply store for like $1. I used a dark brown NYX lip liner before putting on the lip gloss!
Wow the way you explain things is so clear and easy to understand! Thank you
Yessss manual blood pressure is so hard for me as well
I love the set up of your videos!! Thank you for sharing :))
Thank you so much!
Thank you sooo much. I'm taking prereqs for Sonography.
Thank you for awesome video! I have a quick question. Do you use needles? I’m nervous around them. I stayed away from xray bc of needles but I’m not sure about sonography. Tia ❤
Thank you!! Yes I do use needles for biopsies. In clinicals right now, I’ve observed at least 3 biopsies and they have to put the needles in the sterile tray and inject numbing medication into syringes, but you’ll be just assisting! It’s not too bad, I guess it just depends on where you work!
New subscriber 💝 i love how your videos are very detailed & have aaalooottt of information thank you 😊
thank you for the informative video! just one question, do you see a lot of mothers in sonography school? I'm a mom and I feel like I am going into the wrong career.
Yes! Half of my graduating class class are mothers and they are doing an amazing job! It will be difficult being a mother and in school, but it can definitely be done!
@@Trejo.cierra this is really comforting to hear ❤ I'm currently pregnant and would like to apply for sonography school once baby's a year old but I was worried it wouldn't be possible as a mom
Great video🤎 tysm for sharing. Could you share more about what case studies involve.
Thank you so much! Ofcourse, I’ll make a video explaining it because it’s a lot to explain lol
Excellent job baby!!🥳
Thank you so much baby❤️
Hey! I had a question concerning the bodily fluids. I just recently joined a sonography program and was wondering if we clean patients like nurses do? Like wipe butts, urine, ect.
Hey hun! Yes and no lol. If a patient has to pee or poop during your exam then you’ll have to get them a bed pan or a bag for vomit, but we don’t actually clean them. From my experience, I haven’t had to clean a patient. We’ll just call their nurse and let them know what happened so they can be aware. I have had patients pee on the stretcher or bleed on the stretcher during the exam. We had to clean up the bed, but we didn’t clean the patient up. We got them a new gown and let the nurses know. I hope this helps!
Thank you for the video!! I wanted to ask. Is this career hard for non-english speaker? I mean a lot of terminology and specific sonography stuff.
Ofcourse! Thank you for watching! There’s a lot of terminology that you’ll have to learn, but it’s not impossible. You definitely may have to study harder, but it’s still do-able
Question: I’ve been out of school for 10 years now. Will going back to become a sonographer be incredibly difficult for someone who has been out of school for so long?
Honestly, I think it would be a challenge. You would have to have great time management and prioritization skills. If you do, you could definitely get back into the swing of things. Plus, you'll likely have to take many prerequisite courses before being able to apply to the sonography program. While the prequisite courses are no where near as challenging as the sonography courses, theyre still difficult and will definitely help prepare you for the actual sono program itself. Ive known sonographers who started the program after being out of school for years and did extremely well.
Hi! I agree with their comment! Do I think it’s challenging regardless of whether you’ve been out of school long or not. Organization, successful study habits, and flexibility with your schedule is main thing you need to be successful in sonography. If you are dedicated, I’m very sure you’ll do well!
Thank you! Great things to know!
Glad it was helpful!
I love this video! Thank you
Awesome, thank you! Any tips on the pre entrance video?
I am applying in March this year (2024). I’m taking my Pegasus exam soon which is an aptitude test and I’m lowkey freaking out
I’m a middle school teacher looking into a career change! The only accredited school near me is an OBGYN DMS program.
?? If I do this program, can I still do echo as a job ?? How? Do I have to take another program specifically in Exho??
Thanks for your help in advanced!!!
Echo is completely different from general ultrasound. You would have to end up picking between echo and general ultrasound. You can always be cross trained on the job in echo, but I don’t think you can cross train from echo to general ultrasound.
Hi, thank you for this informative video! Do you have to work weekends too?
Hi! Thank you for watching! Yes! It depends on your availability and what schedule you would best suits you. It’s not a requirement though
A lot of these were somewhat known knowledge (for me) and had me wondering, when you went to sonography school did your school not require you to obtain your CNA license and/or have certain amount of direct patient care hours? The video was really nice and informative THANK YOU
No we’re required to be a CNA. Thank you for watching!
Hello hi i am preparing for ARDMS exam SPI.. i search for that and found you.. i have seen your vidieo regarding preparation and books...its really helpfull..thank you so much...if possible plzzz guide me how to read what is important etcc... thanks in advance
Hi, I would suggest reading chapters 6, 12, 15, 18-21 heavily in your Edelman book. Read the other chapters too, but the ones that I listed are the most important. You MUST understand Doppler, aliasing, wall filter and artifacts because those questions are graded at a heavier percentage than the other concepts. Pay close attention to the bolded words, purple boxes and charts in the book because they give you hints of what will most likely be on your exam. Study 3 chapters a day or less, if you study too many chapters at one time you’re going to overwhelm your brain and not retain everything that you studied. I hope this helps. Good luck with your SPI exam!
@@Trejo.cierra Thank you so much. Yes reading too many chapters at a time is confusing but i am trying to understand...
Are you in New York? just curious because Im in NY and want a better idea of being certified in the NY area
Good Lord I'm in an accelerated 16 month program and I wish you all luck it is intense and that's putting it lightly. I highly recommend do not work whatsoever your clinical hours will most likely be around what mine are and that's 900. Good luck😅👍
If math isn’t your strong suit, do you think it’s a bad idea to pursue this career?
So I plan to be a diagnostic medical sonographer. I plan to graduate high school early since I'm a sophomore now I plan to graduate as a junior. I home school and my home school program has a program to do college with your high school. So one semester of a college class Count for one high school year credit. So instead of taking a 2 semester high school math class, I would take a 1 semester college math class and the credit for that class counts as 1 high school and 1 college. So, I have 7 credits left to graduate high school, if I play my cards rught I can get all of my pre requisite classes done in Hugh school. And since it's in Hugh school all the college classes would be free to me I don't even have to buy any books I think, the school pays for it. So I this is what my 11th grade classes would look like normally if I didn't do the college credit plus program: (and btw you can't take 2 English or 2 math classes in the same school year if you only do high school classes, so this wouldn't even work I wouldn't be able to Grad early but here it is anyways)
American government
Algebra 2
Other math
Chemistry
English 11
Spanish 2
English 12
With the ccp program:
HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES:
Algebra 2
American Government
COLLEGE CLASSES:
CAREER EXPLORATIONS IN DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY
INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY
INTRODUCTION TO PATIENT CARE
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY I
ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II
COLLEGE COMPOSITION
STATISTICS
INTRODUCTION TO THE *school name* COMMUNITY
And these are Ober the course if 2 semesters. 1 college class is only 1 semester long. Meaning I wouldn't have 10 classes per semester I would have 6 classes per semester.
4 college and 2 high school.
Now this might be a big load of work. But, if I do this I can accomplish the following:
Graduate High school at 17 years old, [literally 2 month after I turn 17] & graduate with 8 college credits/ vlasses including ALL of my pre requisites. Be on track to get my degree!
Then I would have my summer of '24 and I would take 3 college classes, because I can't deal with 6 college asses in ONE SEMESTER which is the plan for the first year first semester in my college, but luckily I can change it. So summer semester I take 3 of my college classes.
Then fall semester 2024 I would take 3 classes in my community College.
Then no winter semester
Then spring semester In 2025 ( the semester I turn 18 ayyy)
I have only 8 more college classes left to get my degree so I could either do 4 more semesters with 2 classes in each...OR 3 more semesters with 3 in the first 2 and 2 in the last one. OR 2 more semesters with 4 classes in each. I probably will do wither the 2nd option.
So spring semester 2025: 3 classes
Summer semester 2025: 3 classes
Fall semester 2025: 2 classes
Meaning I will graduate with my degree at 18 years old! Like 5~6 months before I turn 19 lol
Then I would just need to continue to have a C [2.0] GPA or higher throughout the college program and to get in I need a 3.0 or higher which is easy I have a 3.3 I think and that because I tanked last year 💀 like it was badddd last year, my teacher said I could easily get 4.0 or higher this year so 🤷🏼♀️.
But, yeah uh thanks for coming to my Ted talk and I hope you have a nice day if you read anything in here you think is wrong or I could use my info or tips about or even tips about what life is like as a d.m.s pleasure lemme know!
Sounds like you got it all mapped out! That’s cool that you school offers that. That’s a lot of classes to take at one time, but you believe you handle that then definitely go for it. Ultrasound is a lot harder than you think, but don’t get discouraged. Time management and dedication is key. Good luck and I wish you the best!
@@Trejo.cierra haha thanks for reading that whole thing, I think my brain stopped functioning trying to that whole thing back I made a lot of typos 😂 and yeah my aunt is a dms and she said school was hard but she is helping me map out my classes so it's easier!
i want to join, but i would really really like to be solely OB, is that possible?
did you have to dissect cadavers during school? dead bodies at work?
No we didn’t
Hi! Can you elaborate on needles?! I know seeing them is inevitable, but do sonographers actually do the poking?!
No we do not stick any needles into patients. The most you will do is set up the sterile trays for the doctor of physician assistant
If you knew these things, would you not have went through with going to school for this?
Surprisingly, I’ve came across some new RNs that did know this stuff 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I have a question do you recommend me doing radiology school and then ultrasound for better job opportunity like how MRI is most hospital where the big pay need you to have a radiology tech degree even if you have MRI degree?
Rad tech and sonography are two completely different roles. If you’re looking to go into MRI, normally a “pre-req” is having completed a rad tech program.
How much do you use physics in the actual day to day job?
When giving diagnosis, it plays a major part
It's kinda funny when you said you'll smell things 😂
I’m trying to warn y’all now😂
Yessir!
When you are working in the field and can’t get a good image due to complications like maybe gas, what happens?
You typically will try to find another area to see get a better image, but if you can’t, you’ll mention it in you technologist impressions which are the notes that we write to the doctor about what we saw. From there, the doctor will determine whether they want the patient to be rescanned after fasting for 6-8 hours or try another motility that might see it better like CT or MRI
thank you
You’re welcome!
are you trained on inserting IV’s?
No. No don’t insert IV’s. I was given training on them (I’m not sure why lol), but we don’t do them!
Girl I had to pause during the bodily fluids part. Woahhh idk why I didn’t think of that
Me neither until I started clinicals 🤦🏾♀️😭
How much free time do you have?
