- This is a German carol written in 1837 by Johann Wilhelm Hey and set to music by Ernst Anschütz. I got the arrangement from a player of the Hayden duet concertina in Germany. It's interesting to play a simple and slow song, the phrasing and details become so important. Even just starting the tune and stopping it smoothly requires a lot of touch for a relatively new player like me.
I'm sorry about the sound -- RUclips processes and compresses it, which squashes the dynamics and adds some harsh spikes. I tried reducing the volume of the sound on my end to at least remove the spikes, but it doesn't seem to help.
I uploaded the same video to Vimeo, you can see it there: www.vimeo.com/1403386 -- or even download the original 640x480 20 MB video file in Quicktime MPEG-4 format: www.vimeo.com/download/video:8... Видеоклипы
well done - 5*****!
It's a concertina, yes, very much like a small accordion. They come in several types, to learn more about my particular instrument, see my earlier "Waltz Medley" video.
Listen at about 20 seconds in, there's a little "crackle," that's what I'm talking about. To hear it more like I played it, try searching for JeffLeff on the Vimeo website, they don't seem to add dynamic range compression like RUclips does.
Lovely tune, and I didn't hear any 'spikes', so that's pretty good!
But YT is so annoying, compressing videos like that!! really awkward.
What is this instrument called? it looks like a small accordion.
It's called a concertina.
Is this supposed to be a Christmas song?
