I spent years chasing long hair. Protective styling to retain length etc. I finally reached bra strap length, which was a goal I proud of. Only to realize I just wasn't enjoying my hair anymore. I could no longer do my go to styles like puffs. Combing my hair out in an afro didn't work, as the volume just overwhelmed my facial features. I hated the long hours on wash days. I ended up leaving my hair in twists. But I never liked the look so I'd wear a wig over my hard earned, bra strap length hair when I went out! It was a total anti climax. After all the work I did to grow my hair, I cut it down to a TWA a few weeks ago. I love it. I haven't felt so free in a long time. All this is to say, long hair isn't always it. The shorter hair frames my face better, and I'm back to enjoying and loving my hair again. Quick wash and go's, shorter detangling time, my hair dries in a few minutes, whereas previously it could take up to 24hrs to dry after washing. I'll probably grow it to a mid sized afro and just keep it there. Sometimes we chase things like long hair, only to find out it doesn't even work for us.

I can relate. I got my hair cut to shoulder length February 2020. It's arm pit length now.
I honestly want it back shoulder length. It looked good and was simpler

One tip for those wanting to try protective styling without wetting your hair: try mixing a bit of glycerin into your Shea butter. You get a bit of moisture for the long haul. I’ve been whipping my Shea butter with glycerin for the better part of a year, and I love it! ☺️

Same! I do my protective styles on stretched hair, and my shea butter mix has been so beneficial in maintaining the moisture.

That mixture reminds me of the hair butter from Naturale Rose. It has glycerin and shea butter in it, as well as other ingredients. Most people (including myself) have experienced our hair staying moisturized with this product.

Would like to try this coz any liquid makes my mini braids/mini twists look thin and small. But I also love castor oil so much even though it weighs my hair down. Could I mix a bit of it in the shea butter/glycerin mix. With this routine, do you spray your scalp and oil it or no?

    • @A_Wilson
      @A_Wilson 3 месяца назад +1

@Ten-wk5zk I love castor oil too! You absolutely can add it to the mixture. My exact mixture is Shea butter, glycerin, Ayurvedic oil (consisting of castor oil steeped with henna, fenugreek and cloves), coconut oil and sometimes vitamin e. I also will add some lavender or rosemary essential oil. I know I’m doing the most 😂 but I love it!! I do mist my hair with an herbal tea, but it’s because my hair loves to have some kind of liquid. I believe I could go 2 to 3 weeks without it, I just choose not to. ☺️

I think I've had so many lengths with my natural hair, I even had locks down to my mid-back & years of being almost bald & going to a barber. Now I'm at shoulder length and I like it for now with twists and twistouts. We just need to give ourselves permission to change as we want to ❤😊

Yes , there’s so much style that can last at least 2 weeks -work with the material you have, pixie cuts, bobs, sculpture styles, cane rows like in Dior braids , parting and plaits with or without extensions

Hey sis ❤ you're looking beautiful ❤️ as usual.
As for me now eh 😂 I don't want to say I'm done with trying to get long hair but at this point, I'm getting kinda discouraged.
I just took down a three month protective hairstyle, I plaited it and it looked basically the same 😩 like as if it didn't increase in length at all 😂
So I was like, you know what? That's it 😂
I still have the waist length in mind but right now I'm tired 😩
I don't even know what to do with the hair again sef 😁😂
    Please help a sister 😂

@@CoilyDiaries well I wash my hair once in two weeks. I moisture every other day. I sleep with a silk scarf but I've been slacking these days 😅. I use my oils, butters, and I use herbs too. I massage my scalp , I used to do it every day for 5 mins but I'm slacking too but I'll get back on track. Hmm 🤔 what else? Currently, I'm not on extensions. I decided to go through the year without attachment 😊 I'm beginning to think twice about it but I'm still pushing though. So yes, I think that's it.

Due to my genetics, I've always had short hair. But now I'm older, God knew what he was doing because I don't think I would have had the patience for long hair or I would not have learned how to do all the styling and care I know to do. Common complaints I hear from women with long hair is that they don't like doing their hair; it takes too much time and they don't know what to do with it. Summer 2023, I shaved off half my hair and I never felt more free!!

Your hoody looks roomy and comfy. Just the way I like them.
A tortoise wide tooth comb with no seams in the teeth is best for my hair.
I like your hair style on you and the hair accessories. Not childish looking at all (East ern European women, like in Russia and Germany, have worn similar styles and wasn't viewed as childish 😏).
I rocked a boy cut and loved it. Wouldn't mind cutting all my hair off to have that style again. Tempted to anyway 😁.
Social media and real life doesn't always coincide with each other. Once a person leaves social media and deals with their real life issues" life be life'n"as the saying goes, and content creators on social media none the wiser when it comes to what their viewers go through everyday. But Jehovah God does and that matters most. He doesn't put more on a person than "what you can bear"-1 Cor 10:13
