Many components go into a successful NFL player. For a QB, you need a good offensive line. Something the Jets don't seem to understand. You also need good skill position players to run / catch the ball. When the o-line is horrible, ANY QB would be scrambling and making the same mistakes Zach is making. I also don't believe the offensive scheme plays to Zach's strengths. Look at Steve Young's career. Considered a bust in the USFL with the LA Express, gets picked up by Tampa Bay when the league folds. Finds zero success. Goes to Frisco, has an incredible coach, backs up one of the best QBs to play the game, then shines when it is his turn. Now in the HOF. System is everything for players. Designed for their strengths, they are great players. Coaches hold on to old philosophies or refuse to change for the player's benefit and the players get labeled a bust. Not their fault.

@@kairoperu1587 He was benched. how much confidence could they have in him? Maybe Rodgers has confidence in him, though. And anything Rodgers wants is going to hold weight with the team.
To be fair, after his first 2 seasons, a lot of teams would have traded him. The Jets have stuck by him. Saleh has gone to bat for him several times this season. Rodgers called out the entire sports media piling on Wilson and the team for locker room leaks. The organization also decided to stick with him to learn from Rodgers for a couple of years, and it's already paid some dividends. By the end of year 4-5, he can take the reigns back much improved. It worked great for ARod, Love, and even Mahomes sat behind Smith for a year. He played so poorly that he almost singlehandedly tanked a promising 4-3 start to the season, and during most of that 5 game losing streak, and even a couple of their wins, he was about as bad as any QB I've ever seen play. They went almost 3 games (11 quarters) without a touchdown. They went 9 out of his first 10 starts with only one offensive touchdown or less, 2 of those without any TDs, and 2 of those were a 50 yard screen to Breece and a 70 yard run on the 1st play of the drive, so that's 4 out of 10 games without an actual touchdown drive.
