It's a mischaracterization that their relationship is one-sided and that reo is spoiled and only thinks about nagi as a possession. The anime director back then said it's a one-sided love call from reo's side which got proven wrong with episode nagi and how much nagi cares for reo and their shared dream. Then in reo's light novel it explicitly says that reo isn't spoiled (if he would be, he wouldn't be in blue lock in the first place because he would have an easy life at home, but he is working hard for things and doesn't want to get everything easily). It's also canonically in the episode nagi manga that reo is happy for nagi, that he is happy seeing him being excited for something and that he cares for nagi as a person and not an object. They both care for each other as individuals and for their dream of winning the world cup together. I hope you will think again about your characterization of reo and their relationship, because all the things you said in this context are proven wrong with looking at canon

I see ur point but in the episode Nagi we specifically saw what both thought, regardless of football Nagi will forever cherish Reo regardless of where they end up, while Reo's whole world got shattered by the though of Nagi improving with someone else, he wants nagi as his lap dog and I don't call this friendship, especially that he actually stopped talking to him because of it,

Because it clearly says that he is HAPPY that nagi wants to change even without him, he was just sad which is a normal human reaction and if you think he doesn't care for nagi because of that then YOU are maybe someone who doesn't care for his friends. Reo literally feels bad for having one selfish thought regarding nagi which he wouldn't do if he wouldn't care. He doesn't want him as his lap dog, but as his partner and his friend. If you aren't able to understand reo's true character, then don't make videos with your mischaracterization of him!
@@ACE_Lockthe whole reason reo started to break down after nagi chose to team up with isagi is because nagi didnt express why he wanted to team with isagi. When reo saw nagi’s enjoying himself while playing soccer, he was incredibly happy. He wanted to let Nagi go but feared their dream would die if it did.
The entirety of second selection is reo feeling like he isnt good enough for nagi, and nagi feeling like he isnt good enough for reo and them both saying stuff they dont mean out of frustration and sadness

The anime directors interview got massively flamed because it contradicted many things the blue lock author himself said. The anime directors interview is absolutely NOT a reliable source and the director even went back, apologised and took his statement back.
(Also the blue lock author himself wrote Reo “is not spoiled” in Reos light novel, so please reevaluate your characterisation of Reo. It should have been obvious when Reos whole deal is only seeing value in things he can work hard himself to get and not wanting things handed to him)
Reos characterization is very interesting it’s obvious he does care for nagi.
But during second selection second it’s obvious he would rayher see nagi not get chosen ti make him fail. He was jealous of the relation he and isagi were forming.
For the spoiled claim its hard in one hand your completely right he wants to work for something instead of getting it handed in the other hand. He is completely spoiled he has a great life will inherit his dads company and he wants the only thing he parents say he cant have.
Imagine giving your child everything you say they cant have a basket ball and they decide nope i want THIS.
So reo is a complex character how he values nagi is strange if nagi wasnt talented would they still be friend’s it’s obvious this all started out with reo viewing nagi for his talent that with him he could obtain his goal.
I do think current reo has grown a lot past then and views him and nagi as friends and if nagi got injured reo would still be there for him

And nagi just met and reo was absolutely interested in nagi because of his skill. Meanwhile Nagi bored with soccer and no interest hanged out with reo from fun and being with him.
Reo can change and develop there friend ship WAS ONE SIDED. Reo only played with nagi because he was talented nagi played because he was bored and reo was pretty fun.
@@thefearturkey6944 During the second selection Reo wanted Nagi to fail, yes, but are you going to ignore the fact that Reo clearly regretted the thought immediately afterwards, so much so that he thought of himself as "utter trash" and wanted to die? Let's be honest, a lot of people in Reo's position would feel spiteful of someone who left them behind when NAGI'S the one who made him promise to "stay together until the end". Also, after Reo lost the 3v3 match, Reo was the one who purposefully egged Nagi to throw him away so they could fully go their separate ways. At that moment he accepted that Nagi would be better off evolving without him.
During the third selection, Reo acknowledged himself he had it better than every other character in that even if he fails Blue Lock, he could simply inherit his parent's company. But he thought the idea of that kind of life was bullshit and boring, so through that motivation to not fail he evolved and got his chameleon ability. But really, just because he grew up as the son of a rich family and doesn't want anything material handed to him, he's spoiled? That's a pretty unfair assessment when he's working just as hard as every other character to stay in Blue Lock.
And at first, Reo wanted to play with Nagi because he saw his talent, yes, but again, are you going to ignore the fact that it was clearly Reo who said, "It's fun being with you"? I don't know where you people keep getting the idea that their friendship was one-sided when Reo continuously explicitly shows how much he enjoys being with Nagi.

You can be spoiled and work hard. Reos parents truly gave bro everything and he still decides nah ima do my own thing. Reo definitely has changed and hes truly putting in work.
The relationship started one sided with nagi being a talent to reo then evolved into a full friend ship. How is that hard to understand. Example i saw this dude with cool toys so i go up and talk to him in the begging i like him for what he provides but after hanging with him hes actually a cool dude. This was a one sided relationship but evolved to a good friendships.

I myself don't give a damn about having a mansion or a rich car or anything, as long as I can live comfortably I'm fine. My parents provide for me and my siblings well but my sister went to art school even though they want her to become an engineer instead, so by your definition would you say she "spoiled" too for having her own dreams and not wanting to listen to her parents?
And yes, I did read your full comment and it doesn't make any sense. That's not what the definition of a one-sided relationship is. You can say literally every friendship starts out as one-sided then, not just Reo and Nagi's. A lot of friendships start out as someone wanting to hang out with someone else because they have what they want. If someone recruited me to join a sports club in college because they liked my skills on the streets and we became friends, that's just called becoming friends, how is there anything "one-sided" about that.

Episode Nagi spent so many chapters delving into Reo's inner thoughts, and people *still* mischaracterize him this badly...Other comments have already pointed everything out, but just in case you missed where all these scenes were, here's a summary.
Reo:
- Is happy that Nagi started enjoying soccer
("But you know Nagi, the truth is...seeing you become aware of your own talent, and seeing you [learn about frustration when you lost to Isagi] made me so happy." - Episode Nagi Chapter 13)
- Cries not just because Nagi left him, but because he couldn't bring himself to push Nagi forward with a smile
(Episode Nagi Chapter 13, Pages 10-14)
- Hates himself for moping over Nagi leaving, despite wanting to let it go
(Episode Nagi Chapter 14, Pages 22-24)
- Has one negative thought (that he doesn't even say out loud) about Nagi and wants to die
(Episode Nagi Chapter 16, Pages 33-35)
- Purposely says hurtful things to Nagi so that Nagi has a easier time cutting him off
("Thank you, Nagi, for finishing me off. You and I can end here and now." - Episode Nagi Chapter 16, Pages 14-16)
It's very clear that the relationship is not one-sided and that Reo cares about Nagi as a person, which is precisely why he's so shaken when Nagi decides to part ways with him.
He wasn't throwing a tantrum because his favourite toy was taken away; he acted the way he did because he felt like he was losing his first true friend.
Which parts show that Reo only sees Nagi as his possession?
If you're a fan of Reo, I'd highly recommend reading his prequel light novel (there are various translations out there). The light novel goes to great lengths to show that Reo is *not* spoiled despite his upbringing. He puts in a lot of hard work and effort, persistently keeps trying if he runs into obstacles, and definitely doesn't just "burn everything if things don't go his way".
All of those quotes are reo feeling sorry for himself. They don’t reflect on his relationship with nagi.

Episode nagi is a retcon shojo bait story cash grab that tries to rewrite what already happened in the main story. In reality reo and nagi are business partners and that’s literally it. Reo spoke to nagi so he could win him a World Cup. Reo showers nagi with gifts and pampers Him unnecessarily if they were truly just friends. No, nagi is an investment for reo. For nagi, reo represents possible end to boredom and loneliness. No rewriting history will change that. The only part of Ep nagi that will be interesting is Zantetsu and the the Team v vs. Team z match animated better (hopefully). And for reo, if he wants to grow and really be Nagi’s friend, he’ll do something that is best for Nagi even if it doesn’t benefit him at all. Like tell nagi “no I can’t work with you if you can’t find your own motivation.”
