    Just stumbled upon your channel, and I'm grateful I did. As an Olympus user, its awesome to see a professional photographer using this equipment. I'm not a professional (would love to be but wouldn't know where to start) but having the ability to afford professional grade equipment to improve my photography without needing a massive loan is a factor some people over look. Love the fact that you are also in Australia, like myself. I have been following Peter Forsgard and Robin Wong but they're not as local as yourself. You're an inspiration mate and I shall catch up on the back log of videos, etc, over the next few days.

Keep practising and getting out to shoot as much as possible, offer your services as a second shooter or assistant to learn from others :) Gear is bloody expensive these days, but you can take awesome shots even with the lower models! Peter and Robin have great work and do a lot for the system! Not really in the same genre of shooting that I do, but have some great knowledge and tips! thanks again for following along :)

    Really wasn’t that convinced by the lens and sent it back after a few weeks. Too clean and not enough anamorphic feeling to it. It was too narrow a field of view and only x1.4 didn’t really cut it for me. Good effort from Sirui, but not worth it.

    • @etchd_
      @etchd_  4 года назад +2

      Yeah I agree that the narrow field of view is too tight! I found that from the beginning as well. That's why I was using it for something different like this! For a lens that costs $1000, and that I can use for free I'm not complaining!

    • @chriseyrewalker
      @chriseyrewalker 4 года назад

      Yeah. I had it for free too in return for a video. But I disliked it too much to endorse it. The thing is that getting it to ‘use it for free’ still doesn’t mean it’s worth recommending to people who have to pay for it.

      @@chriseyrewalker Yeah fair enough man. I guess for the professional level use that you're filming at it might not be good enough. But I honestly don't really mind when I didn't review it here, I'm not a professional film maker and it was fun to use and create something new.

    I see Photoshop saves the image to a TIFF after I change the format of the photo which means I loose information when I edit again in Lightroom. Do you know how to change the ratio and still keep the photos in RAW?
    Compliments on your great work btw.

    • @etchd_

    • @Alfatruly
      @Alfatruly 3 года назад +1

      @@etchd_ But surely you loose information when you edit that TIFF again in Lightroom? For example-the whites can't be recovered after the raw file has been converted to TIFF or PSD. Now I do all the editing BEFORE I change the ratio. But that works too :¬)

    • @etchd_
      @etchd_  3 года назад

    • @SummersSnaps
      @SummersSnaps 3 года назад +1

      This would be the deal breaker for me. I have many presets and LUTs that tend to prefer being actioned on a genuine RAW than Tiff. You can actually see some differences when choosing to use them on Tiff vs DNG etc.
      I don't know how I would feel about editing on a squeezed image and then desqueezing at the end.
      I guess if I wanted to be a purist I could take the RAW DNG or .RAF to PS, desqueeze and then without leaving then visit Camera RAW and use that to edit in a similar environment to LR (basically just edit these files within PS and Export as Jpgs for posting etc.

    do the edges get cropped out when you desqueeze

    • @etchd_

      Hey dude! Naa not at all! So on this camera and others that shoot at 16:9, once you desqueeze you get a 2:4.1 Cinemascope aspect. If you shoot using the Anamorphic setting on the GH5 or Blackmagic, you use the full 4:3 sensor and once you desqueeze you get a 16:9 but at a higher resolution than normal which is cool! Just depends on what look you want. As you can see the images ended up being 16:9 because the camera shot it at the 4:3 sensor. But the video was shot at 16:9 so had the full anamorphic effect!

  • @spencerselover
    @spencerselover 4 года назад +6

    Your crop factor equivalency is inaccurate. Since it's squeezed, the top of the from is the same crop factor (75mm equivalent) But the width of the frame becomes (Focal x Crop factor) / Animorphic squeeze. So on the fuji its (50 x 1.5) / 1.33 which equals 56.3mm. So on the witch you're almost getting the full use of the focal length! =)

    • @etchd_
      @etchd_  4 года назад +2

      Hi Spencer, thanks so much for the message mate! I totally agree with you on those calculations, they are the same as what I used actually! This camera is an Olympus M4/3 so the crop is 2x. Perhaps the more correct way of me saying 'equiv' would have been 75mm equiv focal length with a 50ish focal width. Have you had a chance to play with the lens? super fun! Hey guys, sorry for the late reply! did you check out the description??? Import to Lightroom, then > edit in Photoshop > change image size (multiply the 'x' number only by 1.33). Hit enter > File > save > edit in lightroom!
