basically:
thick:
- better tolerances
- slows your balisong down
- helps your sound
- lasts longer
medium:
- slightly help tolerances
- barely *if at all* slows your balisong down
- slight sound boost
- lasts "average"
thin:
- doesn't help toerances
- make your balisong faster
- gets everywhere in your pivots
- lasts hours
good video! Quick info about oil:
my oil (thick) as well as carbon honey (thick) do not slow down the swing and action as long as the knife has good swing and action, but other oils may like kpl thick.
both my oil and carbon honey scentless have 0 smell and are completely scentless.
the black build up around washers is a result friction from unpolished/dirty washers (and sometimes the surface of bushings), if you want to reduce it greatly be sure to disassemble, polish, and make sure every area of contact is oiled.
scent if done right does not effect performance.
additives like pfte and graphene will keep the knife smooth after the sound the oil gives the knife wears off, if the oil is thicker it will take longer to wear off.
Thanks for the info!
WHERE DO I GET UR LUBE I CANT FIND IT OMG
Such great advice tbh
“I’m wEIrd”- some Brandon clone
"Trust me, that lube is *SOOOOO* good."
So true king
Can't wait til the day I can see both you and Ty in person.
😳
Great video and great insight.
Thanks!
Just FYI, 99% certain that the gunk from Carbon Honey is actually the graphene additive seeping out. It's the main reason I stopped using Carbon Honey in favor of Super Lube, because that black buildup just really annoys me and I always feel compelled to clean it off.
With Super Lube, the area around my pivots stays way cleaner.
I live way far from the us/eu so these oils aren't available near me :/, what do you think about sewing machine oil? Some say it's good enough
This is Poggers!
No you
I've used anything from 10w30, various paintball gun oil and greases, gun lubricants, to olive and cooking oils. As long as its not too thin I'm pretty good with whatever. Been stuck on super lube for the past 2 or so years tho.
I think im in the camp of "oil is oil" and using it to silence tap. Like you said tho, had to do alot of experimenting to get to my conclusion as well.
Is super lube considered medium?
@@intothebreak571 Super mid fr fr
But yes it is a great medium. Usually sticks on for about 2-3 days or so on my edc bali.
So this is probably only a me thing. I am also a speed cuber . I think I'm just gonna use my Rubik's cube lube which is silicone based seems to work fine for me and I don't think it will hurt the metal.
How do you apply lube to a Rubik's Cube?
@@Florp3434 it comes in like an eyedrop bottle, and you put it in between the corner and middle peace right in the crack and squeeze a couple of drops in
Does the brake cleaner method that Ty did a video on work for cleaning carbon honey? Idk if it would because of the graphene
I'd imagine it does but I haven't tested
thoughts on over lubing balisong?
i use canto oil on my medusa and if i just add 4 drops of oil it doesnt last long on mine so i usually overlube it •-•
dont apply thick oil like thin. Make sure to put a lot on and really work it in as it is very viscous. It should last very long
The lube will just come out of the pivots anyway so it's kind of just a waste
Great video man! Just wondering what is that purple and yellow balisong? Can you please let me know? Thanks
That's the nemesis v2
Hey Blade Bias, im wondering if I need to clean out my balisong every time I try a different lube in it?
Yes different lube yes
Slayed
When I want to flip dry I'd go for graphite powder
What oil would you recommend for the arctic
Also have you tried super lube oil
I don't really oil the arctic too much, and I haven't found an oil that feels amazing in it
whErAS MEDIUM
is brass instrument valve oil ok to use in a pinch?
ive used it on my super ultra cheap first one ever one when i was debating if i wanted to get into flipping and it worked but before i use it on my actual good one i now have i want to know
As a former trombone player, it's far from ideal but I can't comment on how it will affect your balisong. It could mess something up or it could be fine
What about wd40
No
The oil I use in mine burns away over time it just disappears
Yeah that's how it works
@@BladeBias I use engine oil, it burns in like 2 miuntes
@@BladeBias I use engine oil, it burns in like 2 minutes

Oh no

I don't quite know what this means
@@BladeBias like scrapped videos and dumb stuff
Use gun oil
No
@@BladeBias i mean if its metal on metal then it should be fine
@@drinkingsoapi have used hoppes 9 gun oil on my balis for 6 years now no complaints
Based opinion: no oil, and just soak your hardware in wd40 every 2 weeks like me
