A compendium of marginally-useful Terraria strats Игры
Note that wallless housing is buggy on server and for the most part doesn't work. It's mostly a singleplayer trick.
Holy moly it's haboo from stardew valley
Traps being the last thing GFB generates with the minigame in mind is evil
hello
stuff like this that's slightly evil but not extremely detrimental is why i love this game and it's devs lol
that step has always been near the end of world generation
Every time you said "parrying" was quite painful
Pah-ied
Pahri to get more pahs
I pronounce it as "pear-ry" so it was very annoying
@@_thresh_ Cause that's the correct pronunciation
i had to look up the definition and pronounciation of "Parry" to make sure i wasn't going insane
terra is just a lil dumb
Another pretty cool mechanic i use a lot:
Furniture items (tables, gravestones, chairs, sunflowers) break when you break the block below them, this is particularly useful for gravestones as they take a while to mine normally.
Drills need something that make them useful in a diferent way than pickaxes. Imagine if they dig a bit slower but they allow you to do it like the shovel.
Digging like a pickaxe in a larger area has almost always been a place for a hammer. Which already has a different purpose.
Now, if you could stack drills, on the other hand.
The town slimes counting as NPCs for pylons is super useful for teleporting back and forth between the Shimmer biome underground if you care about not keeping regular NPCs underground
The first time I had generated a getfixedboi world, I hadn't known of the minigame but I hit the stars anyway, pretty convenient for me.
I wonder what the most optimal house would be, in terms of block for move in speed
Well, off the top of my head, maximum house interior size is 750, so you can make a 27x27 interior house (or 29x29 frame) with 729 background walls for NPCs to latch onto and 183 blocks for walls, 112 perimeter, which comes out as 57 blocks with all platforms except the 1 standing tile, then an extra 10 blocks for the table and chair for a total of 250 blocks. This gives 2.92 efficiency of scannable walls per block used in housing. That being said, this is just an isolated house; if you create a grid of these houses, perimeter costs per house approach half that of an isolated house, due to shared borders. In this case, you get an efficiency of 3.28 walls per block used.
Compare this to my standard 8x4 interior solid boundary workbench 2 door house, which gets 32 back walls and costs 56 blocks to make in isolation, giving 0.57 wall per block efficiency.
@@kellamyoshikage286 bro did the math holy hell
I wonder why they chose to make drills not affected by mining speed bonuses, feels weird that this combined with the lower range (and annoying sound) makes them basically an objective downgrade from pickaxes
Drills have a higher base speed so without mining buffs, they mine way faster than pickaxes. It’s just that the way mining speed works, a little mining speed is enough to push pickaxes over the edge and beat drills
In 1.2, the only mining bonuses, IIRC, were the potion and the miner armor, so pickaxes were not as easy to make better than the drills, I guess
@@Oler-yx7xj well in 1.2 drills were literally just worse (it was in 1.4 when they buffed drills to be better than pickaxes without buffs)
Drills are for people who don't want to put more effort into mining than simply making the tool. If you're going to use ancient chisel, cake, mining potions etc then go for pickaxes and if you don't want to do all that then drills are better because they're fast without the need of buffs.
Because mining speed bonuses Are based around increasing how fast you're swinging your pickaxe, but it doesn't matter how fast you swing a drill, it'll still mine at the same rate.
This is one of the most terrasteel videos of all time, good job
The town pets sold from the Zoologist (Dog, Cat, and Bunny), also count as NPCs for pylons.
Hearing Terrasteel say "meow" was amazing
Transcription: a brief ...meow🙄 will play
I can't wait for part 2 of M.U.B.S.M.U.T.F.T.T.P.I.A.O.O.U. (If the name is shortened it could just be Mub Smut)
Perfect no flaw name
damn did i log on to the wromg site?
one of my fav vids of yours recently, hope u make a part 2 or more :)
One of your best vids yet imo! hope this becomes a series
Some neat stuff - nothing new to me in this case, but I bet there's stuff I didn't know. Thank you for creating the video :)
I've brought the Nurse into the Jungle Temple with the knowledge on how to build houses without worrying about background walls - works quite fine. Although it's arguably easier to just build the golem arena just outside the temple instead, more convenient space and all that
terrasteel best terraria information youtuber hands down.
Since town slimes/pets count towards the 2 NPCS needed to fulfill the pylon requirement, I believe you could actually buy the pylon, then move the NPC you bought it from out and move a second slime/pet in, and it would still work. iirc I did that when I was trying to get all my NPCs in one place to try and make them kill bosses - might as well use the ones who can't attack for something
These are really helpful
I didn't knew about these strategies!
I don't feel like number 2 is too useful but generally a great video. I did notice that if you have a house with a lot walls the npcs will appear faster, that's why I build "npc farm" which is basically 3 houses with a lot of walls and then settle npcs down in 4-0 wall houses after they spawn, but I didn't know the mechanics behind it because I haven't found any documentation on this
Could you make a video about which hooks are better. I am always confused in my playthroughs when I get a new hook because it is hard to tell if it goes further or faster.
use the terraria wiki
Diamond hook -> Dual hook -> lunar hook is my preferred hook progression
Unless I get bat hook then you can use that until you get lunar hook lmao
@@roseflows6585The Wiki GG one as well, the Fandom one isn't as good.
In prehardmode just use gem hooks in hardmode use dual hook and then it basically doesn't matter as you have a lot of better mobility options. Anything that allows you to grapple on 2 or more hooks at once is basically trash unless you don't have any better option(like if you found spider hook or beat the shit out of king slime before you got enough gems)
@@hellphin I know its probably just me but the only place I use dual hooks is in the npc shop.
What was the original name of the a to z of getting mildly annoyed in terraria. I suggested a new name for the video and you changed it. And I was wondering what the original title was.
The last one is one I always use on my normal playthroughs
dogs, cats, and town bunnies (pet license), also count for pylons. additionally pylons can be operated by just town slimes and town pets. and, last thing, npcs do not need to be happy to operate a pylon. happiness only matters when buying a pylon.
Oh cool, I actually know the Pet Pylon one. Nice
The pylon tip is actually VERY useful if you ask me
Awesome
We should be terraria RUclipsr friends 🎉
Nice discord server
@@damnthisisabadname yk it shows me on youtube that this is your alt... with the extension I have
@@wildlmao what are you talking about???
hi wild lmao
@@wildlmao Hes not
that's an interesting way to pronounce 'parrying', i've always said "pear-ey-ing" like the fruit.
Having house made out of platforms helps to move in and out of it to heal at the nurse during intense boss fights
cats dogs and bunnies also count as NPCs for pylons
you can also use pets to make pylons usable
Terra steel is cool
The last one also works with cats and dogs
the pylons one i use every playthrough
I've used it plenty of times as well. Really handy, when you just don't want to bother with building a little town at a convenient Pylon location
i love terrarium
Thanks for letting me know that people who don't play on PC can hit more stars because they can move their cursor at any speed...
Buy some shitty device that takes hours to generate world and call it a day
5:00
Pets like cats and dogs count too
Started a getfixedboi seed and forgot about the mini game so i just got normal world loot
*vocabulary*
I think all town pets work for the last tip, not just town slimes
PA-RRY. It's pronounced Pair-ry (or Pear-ie).
Put a hat on it and it's a secret agent
i lowered my CPU performance to get the getfixedboi generation slower for maximum score. (as an extra pro tip)
terrasteel meow ;3
Traps are probably one of my least favorite parts of this game, so I'd hardly call the first one "marginally useful".
pylon's need 0 npc's since you can just use 2 town slimes (or any other town pet)
Well, you still need one NPC to sell you the pylon.
@@Terraw but not to use it
In the first 15 seconds of the video there were 3 words that i did not understand
hey guys its me vin diesel
"Looks like ya got some bills today, would be nicer if they were dollar bills, ya know?"
Being first doesn't matter.
4:55 wait town slimes are actually useful?
Unless they move in the house alone interrupting natural npc spawns lol
What the hell is that pronunciation of parrying 💀
Puhhrying 😫
+PAH-IE
Why do you say parry like that.
When you play terraria while edging do NOT make a getfixedboi world! That smile will end any edging streaks in an instant!
Uh-Oh... Cleanup on aile... my PANTS!!! 😂😂😅😮
skill issue
@@Brass319 people who say that haven't beat it even once. This might be a challenge but a very annoying and frustrating challenge rather than fun, and even the first person who beat it in hardcore mode said that. After you beat that shit once you better stick to for the worthy or something because it's the least fun you can have in the game
@@helm36 if you can't beat the getfixedboi world generation screen while edging without failing either it's a skill issue, simple as.
@@Brass319 it just helps you progress faster early game lmao what are you talking about
Pah-rie
🥝
Pah-ie
why is he pronouncing "parry" like that?
any one else read inarginally instead of marginally?
the most atrocious pronunciation of parrying
probably not first but whatever
Congrats I guess :)
