@MCsCreations I'd much rather have a diode later like this one. In fact, I bought one a while back and they're really good. The huge k40 would be overkill.
@@Caroline_Tyler Diodes are better for engraving images into wood, but that's about it. CO2 laser is better for cutting wood & plexiglass etc. Galvo lasers are for engraving metal. plasma cnc or EDM for cutting metal.
Pretty impressive machine, Wayne! Congrats!!! 😃 But for airplanes and wings, wood parts can help a lot! Plastics can melt, deform and so on... So everything depends on where you're going to use the part. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
@@ched999uk Carbon fibre doesn't cut well on a laser because it burns the epoxy resin holding the fibre together and gives a messy cut. This is what I've read - it's not something I'd want to go near because of the dust/smoke and other nasties produced by carbon fibre. A CNC machine is probably your best bet there, but you still need to think about the dust produced.
they should always come with an enclosure mandatory. The glasses aren't enough honestly. I've put webcams in the enclosure to monitor the engravings. I love playing with this toy but its really not worth losing my eyes over
Entire video is this guy complaining about something🤣 - the laser, the fumes, the sound of the pump even about how cold he is... One of the most annoying videos I saw in the past year.
A lovely K40 laser cutter for Christmas - no thanks!!!
Well... You could easily cut parts for rc airplanes or wings... And you can even engrave pictures, so...

@Caroline_Tyler Oh, got it!

Very true - I was thinking about those little wing struts that you cover in film for the more traditional wing making
@@CurryKitten Yeah, and even motor mounts and stuff like that.
Pretty cool set up. THanks for the show and tell
No problem 👍
Looks a great machine. Especially with all the addon features.
It's pretty cool - although I would say that some of the addons are pretty fundamental (the enclosure and air assist for example)
@@CurryKitten Could you cut a quad frame out of carbon with it? That could be fun.

Nice video to learn really appreciate..
I have the same model.
Do you have parameters about faux leather engraving

I tend to agree - lasers need to be behind several things that absorb the light
Can it read files from a USB thumb drive or an actual SD card?
Yes. It will read a usb stick via the USB port. There’s no actual SD card slot but if you have a USB dongle for one it’ll work
@@CurryKitten - Okay, so the "SD Card" in the menu just refers to the internal storage?
It's probably called "DIY KIT" because you assemble it yourself, as opposed to other models that come pre-assembled (sometimes with hard enclosures).
Perhaps so. Although the boxes a complete machine would ship in would be huge !
@@CurryKitten - Yes, some definitely veer into "crate" territory.

Well you've set me a challenge now. How can I go from "one of the most annoying videos" to "the most annoying video" :D
