You're so very right!!! I found this totally by accident. I was rushing to comb out my hair and grabbed my Denman only to have it flip out perfect curls that lasted all day. I will do this every time I want a natural curl.
Tip 1: use a detangling brush because that noise your denman brush makes upon detangling worries me! The Wet detangling brush works well little to no pull on your hair. Tip 2: after echo gel, don't brush both sides of hair with your denman brush. Just like curling a ribbon, if you pull with some tension on the 'wrong' side, your hair will try to become straight and won't know what to do. Find the way each section of your hair curls the best and brush it that way, so you're not upsetting your hair's natural curl pattern. Your hair tiene out beautifully though!! 😍
I just discovered this a month ago and then I saw this video. You really have to do what’s best for you, right? I was applying my hair products with my fingers as instructed and after awhile I realized my fingers are not getting products thoroughly throughout my thick hair so I just picked up the Denham and was absolutely startled at the greatly improved definition I had been trying to achieve for almost a year. Thanks for the confirmation. Great Video!
Great technique. Gorgeous hair. Summer- I just de-tangle my wet hair then add Shea moisture and Eco gel. I scrunch a bit but nothing extreme. Takes me 5 mins. In the late Fall to early Spring- I blow dry using a diffuser which adds another 10 mins. It’s cold where I live so don’t want to catch a cold.
Love ♥️ the definition in your curls. I have tried and failed multiple times to do get my natural curls popping like yours ... now I know I’m missing that brush and to apply tension! Thanks for sharing 🙌🏽
I am really enjoying your videos. About how applying tension then brushing helps with curl formation, I get it because for me I relate it to how the holiday curling ribbons for the fancy gift wrapping works. Thanks for making it easy
AMAZING! I plan to try this method today (06-12-21) I have been natural since 2013 and have never had a satisfactory wash-n-go. I have faith that today that is going to change. Thank you!
@@AbbyJahaira It was a GAME CHANGER. My daughter said it was like seeing a Unicorn (a rare sighting to see an amazing wash-n-go). I snapped 17 pictures of that AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT. Thank you again and you are so funny!
Sooo update, idk if i didn't use enough or the right gel or if my hair was too wet but I didn't NEARLY get the definition Abby got and our texture is similar :(
Greetings from the UK! Abby, thank you so much for the tutorial on achieving natural curls. I have been wearing a weave for a long time and I decided to opt for a more natural look. Thanks to the weave my hair has grown substantially and I was stuck as to what to do with a hugely puffed up afro! I almost resorted to perming my hair! But my 12 year old daughter convinced otherwise to go naturally curl. I wish I discovered you earlier! Seriously, your method to achieving the curls has really convinced me to go out and purchase the products and hopefully achieve the same results. Thank you Abby!
I have curly/kinky hair and haven't owned a brush in 17 yrs. I primarily detangle while in the shower using lots of conditioner. But after seeing this video, I have to seriously think about getting one of these brushes. You have beautiful curls.
Alright, great curls. I used Eco Styler for five years and got good curls. Unfortunately, the Eco Styler chemicals caused my hair to thin out, so bad that I trashed the Eco Styler. The gel sticks to my scalp and it is difficult to wash out.
Girl !! U SAVED MY LIFE !!!! If I can give u a million likes .... I Just tried this . and OH MY GOD... Finally A quick working technique !!! THANK U From Egypt
@Krystal Henry it won't be as spiral curly as hers but you can still use same technique to get some definition in your hair , it will look more defined wavy in 4c hair delending on length of your hair
I wave brush do the same thing! Old school leave in conditioner and vasaline and plat in sections same effect! Watched my big mama as a little girl! Works for me... Then cool hair dryer and light moisturizer for shine...
YESSSS! the denman brush works wonders and my curls have recently started breaking through the shackles of previously relaxed hair! I use the same technique with the brush...under then over. Love your channel. New subbie 😀can't wait to catch up.
Girl I'm here laughing and loving your real self. First time looking at you but it will definitely not be the last. I feel ya with your revelation! God bless!
Hi Abby, I hope your well. I saw your tutorial maybe a month or two ago. I went right out to purchase the denman brush to try it. My hair is long and thin but using the brush helped to define my curls so perfectly I was surprised and excited. Wear my hair more in the wet look and it last a whole week without touch up. I use Desert Essence 100% Jojoba oil and Mizani True Textures Oil Gel and again my curls Pop. Thank you for sharing.
My curls are just like that! I’ve been trying to define my frizzy curls and now I know the brush is the missing piece lol I always thought It was just a regular detangling brush but it’s working magic I see! Lol
Lol, to cute and thanks for this. I've been struggling with this too. I've been twisting for about 10 years and doing twist out along with this. But when I brushed my wet hair out I noticed that same definition you got but didn't know how to achieve it on my entire head. Thanks sooo you I'll try this next time.👌
I just watched a video prior to yours and she just sprayed her hair with water and used the denman brush and she got the curls. So its definitely the brush in my opinion.
I LOVED your video! You ARE A TRIP! And I LOVE the tip. I too was struggling with this. I can't wait to try it out on my hair. You may have cracked the code!
No I think it can work for anyone. The technique can work for anyone, but obviously the type of definition you will see (visible curls or coils) will look different. Obviously, her hair comes out with a spiraly curl. Someone who may follow this method may come out with a o-shaped or tight curl. Your hair type is your curl shape or pattern which is just a microcosm within the type of porosity, density, strand thickness, and length you have. It may not work for you, but may work for someone else tight curl or not. Basically what I'm saying is that the LCO method/technique is a universal method within any hair type, right? So the same thing applies here 🤷🏽♀️
I love this video! You are so funny!! I think besides using the denman brush, it may also be that you are using TWO curling products instead of one to define your curls. So I'm definitely going to try this method because it may help in defining my curls too. The only thing I don't like is the smell of coconut. So, do you have any suggestions of a curling smoothie without the coconut in it? If not, I still thank you so much for sharing this video because you explained it so well!! Great job!!
The texture of your hair is beautiful! It looks like maybe 3c or 4a? Thanks for showing me a faster way to achieve curl definition besides the finger-coil and braid/twist out methods.=o)
Your hair is beautiful. I just would like to have seen how it looked once it was completely dry, as Eco Style Gel would leave a tint on my hair once it dried. I guess I wasn't using enough protective, moisturizing product on my hair before applying the gel.
I was just starting out RUclips when I did this video and forgot to record the end result. At the very end there are photos that show it , though. I’m sorry 😭
I love this video! You took the mystery out of how to achieve the perfect curl with a denman brush! I only wished you had shown your curls after your hair dried b/c I've heard say on several other videos that the brush causes shrinkage--especially for type "4" hair. Really enjoyed watching this tutorial. I've been combing my hair by using my fingers right after I wash it, and have been getting pretty defined curls but, after watching this video and the beautiful, perfect little curls you got with the brush, I just may give it a try after all. Thank you! Ms. EcStreet :)
Evelyn C towards the end I show a picture of how it looks when it’s dried. My hair has grown so I’m gonna try again and see what the shrinkage is like. I’m glad this was helpful!
@@AbbyJahaira Well, it makes sense that it would shrink more. More definition equals more curl. Type 4 curls are usually coily, so as they lose moisture, the coil will draws up. Think of it like a sponge, so your options are to choose a product that suits your porosity and keeps your hair moisturized most of the day OR help those perfect curls stretch by gently pulling the ends as you blow-dry the roots using the attachment that has the comb-like part on the end. Be careful, as to not cause frizz, but that helps me achieve my most defined look with length.
I was thinking the exact same thing! Great tutorial!Cause my hair is fickled and looks good wet and with product...but once it dries....Baybeee...I'm like, what happenedddd?! 😳
