At first, the Concepts app drives me crazy because I didn't know how this thing works even with their help system. Thank you for clearing things out and make it so understandable.
Dang they really need to have a paint bucket took and a live trace type tools in addition to some more advance layer options. I really love how amazing the brushes and how easy it is to sketch and draw in here. I'm looking for a easy app for a cartoonist who doesn't need all the bells and whistles of photoshop. Are in this app. Also us windows users have WAY less options available in the free version then shown in this video.
A very compelling feature is the ability to 'nudge' and reshape what you've already drawn - in other words, to adjust your lines as if they were made of soft springy wire. Teoh, I think there's plenty of room for a further video series called 'More Concepts Draw'. :^)
Thanks for helping me understand! I work with illustrator at my job and this app just makes the best sense to me for creating illustrations with vectors but I couldn't figure all the little details. Thanks so much
Man... more time clicking buttons on these apps than actual sketching! Good apps though. Especially for travel. Never be the same as sitting at a desk with materials though. Space is a premium luxury worth enjoying!
Thank you very mucho for this tutorial Introduction of concept app🙏🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I really like this app but didn't know a lot to do with it 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Thank you again 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Wow - fantastic tutorial! Thank you very much Teoh. I’m in love with that watercolour brush - it’s very effective. My only hesitation has to do with file storage. Is it possible to export / save to the Files App iCloud drive? It would be a terrible to lose your work if you upgrade your iPad.
thank you for putting this together with care and clearly explaining this.. u have a new sub ! also your art style is very nice.. ! really appreciate your work and quality of videos and art work !
I can't remember how much it is. It's not too expensive and certainly worth the money. But the extra brushes are sold separately. So the total adds up. But overall it's still quite worth it. You can decide if you like the app enough to buy the brushes later. Try the Essentials set first.
If you want to work with a size in mind, set the size using the settings before you start drawing. You can set the size later but it's troublesome to fit your art into the size boundary that appears.
It's a shame that the Windows version doesn't have all the iPad features. Anyway I keep using Concepts because it's a great app - IMHO it has the best tilt sensitivity amongst all image editors from its class (and I'm talking about the Windows version only, I don't have an iPad).
If you have mode budget, you can get the iPad Air. But for the same money, you can get iPad 7 with more storage and Apple Pencil. So iPad 7 is more worth the money.
I see a (+) sign on the tool bar ... I tried looking for a way to remove tools cause having 7 tools can be pretty messy for me and I dont know how to turn it back to 5 tools before I added them !! how do I remove the unwanted tool?
Thanks Teoh, that was really helpful. I noticed you ended up with 6 layers. As you were showing the free version which has max 5 layers what happens to the extra layer?
@@teohyc no worries, it was just at the beginning of the video you said you were using the free version. Just wanted to give you the heads up. Thanks again for the video. It was really helpful. I’ve now paid for the Pro pack.
Hello, about the custom palette.. is that something that is only available on Android or iOS? I am planning on using it on my laptop (Windows) and I can't seem to find that option. Thank you!
can you try huawei MatePad Pro 5G and Honor Tablet V6 with M-Pencil, Test writeing, painting, please :)please:) please:)It's so great for vlog too:)and huawei P40 pro + really cool too:)
@@teohyc Yeah, it doesn't look exactly like the best raster apps, but considering that behind the scenes it's a vector app (like Adobe Illustrator, for instance), the blending is pretty darn organic looking. In short: you can use this for real art. Once you've got the hang of it, results can look sensitive and subtle. Even better: If something bugs you, you can adjust it, or replace it cleanly without damaging other strokes.
Hi there, thanks for the video! I am very interested in getting this app and buying the >export as svg> option, however, I am looking for a specific function overall. I want an app that will allow me to draw/write on the tablet with an app that allows me to export a SINGLE LINE SVG so I can then import it to a working file on a PC and have it stay as a SINGLE LINE SVG(as with my use case I am using a plotter). Do you or anybody seeing this have any suggestions for an app that can do this? Thanks!
The SVG export from Concepts is not good. It will export the expanded line. E.g. If you draw a thick line, it will not export the stroke but the outline of the thick line. And often the export is not exactly the same as original art
@@teohyc ah, that's too bad. I experienced that with another app, as well before purchasing the export feature on concepts. Do you know any app that is good for a tablet that will export a single path in svg? Thanks for the reply!
Yikes, LiLGWaez, Teoh showed how Concepts works _very_ differently! Now find and watch some Intro to Procreate vid (there are many available). But briefly: With Procreate, your resolution is locked in, and you place your art on the canvas as a fixed number of pixels (tiny dots). After you start, you can't decide to blow up your image for finer res (sharpness at any size). With Concepts, your strokes aren't placed as dots, but rather as mathematical positions. Later, you can give every stroke a different resolution or size or brush type, or manipulate it in almost any way - separately from other strokes that may overlap it. Everything's _very_ adjustable, long after you've drawn it.
This app almost disappointed me. Just found out how to draw a freaking straight line for perspective practice!! Geezus. These tools want 4.99/mth.... Gimme the whole freaking experience!!

Yes, I've another video on it. But not sure when I'll publish it.
Thanks for the detailed information! Would like to know how much is the essential pack (one time purchase) for ios? Thanks!

Hey! Thanks a lot for this tutorial. BTW I had a doubt that is there a masking tool in concepts app? Pls tell.
There is masking tool. But it works like a masking brush
Ohhk. Thanks a lot! Sry to disturb but where can I find it?
Nicee, can we adjust canvas size ?

Developers will continue to release features on Windows to match iPad in the future
I don't understand the logic of excluding colour palette feature for Android version. Great video btw. ❤👍
The developers said they will match the features with iOS but that will take maybe another year, the last time I read.
@@teohyc Thanks Teoh for the reply, I bought the Xiaomi pad 5 after watching your review, now waiting for the pen to arrive from Taobao. 😬
May I ask why is the colour palette not appearing in my screen? I have tap and hold the color wheel but it juz let me to move the color wheel around.
You mean the fly-out colour palette? Or the horizontal bar palette (available only on iPad).
@@teohyc oh i mean the horizontal palette since I am using I andriod. Anyway thanks for the clarification
My pen is dragging the lines instead of letting me free flow. I can’t seem to get it to just freestyle. I’m using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2.0
Very helpful, Teo👍🏻

Hello ! Is the resize ability in 14:42 is only available on iPad ? Because I didn't have the little white balls on the corners.

Unfortunately you can't resize like that with Android for some reason. The feature is not available yet

Hi guys!
I recently started using concept apps, how do you fill an element with color?
Unfortunately there's no Fill tool. So you have to draw the shape to fill colours.
@@teohyc Thank you! :)
Does the watercolours mix? Like, paining blue over yellow gives green?
There is colour mixing as long as you set transparency under 100%. Effect looks nice
@@teohyc Yeah, it doesn't look exactly like the best raster apps, but considering that behind the scenes it's a vector app (like Adobe Illustrator, for instance), the blending is pretty darn organic looking. Lack of watercolor brushes on Windows is frustrating.
how do we fill a colour into a closed shape with one touch?
There's no way to do it since there's no fill bucket tool
What if im broke and cannot buy the other tools? Would it affect my final work?
You can just used the default included tools then
Can you blend colors in this app?!
No
perfect!
Is there a way to symmetry or mirror in concepts? Thank you
Select what you want to mirror with the lasso (arrow) tool, then click on the mirror icon that appears.
@@teohyc Thank you. And how to mirror symmetry while drawing?
in my opinion the fill function is not intuitive at all, is pretty much a mess, when you are trying to fill perfectly a shape...
There is no fill tool unfortunately
differences between this and procreate?
Procreate is a raster image app, this is a vector app. But main difference is in the user interface and workflow.

This app is just frustration for people who cant pay. Pay to import images, absurd
