I started making this salad and sharing it with family members and they can not wait for the next time for me to make more and I took some to work and my co-worker's got a taste of it now I am making this salad every week or every 2 weeks just to keep up with demand. I work with wide variety of people from many different ethnic backgrounds and everyone loves it. Thank you much for sharing..
That's so wonderful to hear! I'm very glad everyone is loving this salad! It's one of my favorites, too. My mom used to make it for us all the time and now I enjoy it as well!
Thank you for sharing this!!! I am so happy that there are some new videos added to the "Russian/Ukrainian" food playlist - it is one of my favourite parts of your channel! I watch the playlist over and over again :).
Thanks for the recipe.....my background is Ukrainian and I remember my Baba making this for us when we were small. I don't remember my Mom making it though. But I will try your recipe.....Thanks for sharing...Irka.
Great version of traditional Russian salad! I was happy to see you cook it! If you allow me, I will share the version of preparation of filling: the sauce vinegret I prepare as follows: in a bowl pour three tablespoons of 3% vinegar, add half a teaspoon of salt and black ground pepper, free 5 tablespoons of unrefined oil, mix, then fill. Everything else in your recipe is great! Most importantly, you baked vegetables, not boiled vegetables, that 's very right!
Yum... I've seen people also add sour apples and white or red beans to this wonderful salad as well as chopped sauerkraut. Not every one had vinegar in the old days. Beans add a creamy texture. For the brave in heart - diced salted herring - for lent can be added as well! Thanks for a clear concise recipe.
thank you Tatyana I taste Ukrainian food I like it cabbage and carrots salade and my favourite was lamb with cabbage and some carrots very delicious thanks to my 2friends Olena and Olga :)
i like to add creamy white or red kidney beans - I've seen people add a Granny Smith apple or finely chopped sauerkraut -great video -you make it look easy
Made this salad today! I forgot the peas tho but added Greek peppers! haha. Thank you for the wonderful recipe. I'm Armenian so a lot of your recipes are either familiar or go great with Armenian food so I look forward to your videos :)
Thank you Tatyana! another really great video! I would like to say that I like that if you add one thing into the dish, which a person might not have you tell your audience a great substitute food for it! coming from Alaska, it really helps because ingredients are limited the farther north one goes. Молодец!
Thank you so much for sharing this great yummiest recipe of beet potato salad. It's so energetic and very good in taste. So delicious so tasty so yummy. You are an adorably gorgeous, sweetly pretty, amazingly cute genius woman and your all recipes are fantastic. Your cooking n baking skills are amazing. I'm completely fascinated by your wonderful God-given very talented very beautiful very special very attentive mesmerising personality. I'M wishing you alot of success and smiles in all the walks of your life, May God bless you with the best and Keep you smiling and healthy always,Stay blessed ❤❤❤🎉🎉😊
Apart from the very annoying buzz of music noise in background, thank you for an excellent recipe. You have excellent recipes. I made your Ukrainian Borscht Soup with beef and it is so good on a cold day. Now to use up the rest of the beets in a salad. Beets contain lots of iron, magnesium, manganese, folates, fiber. Great food. I would subscribe if there was no music.
I am mind blown! My mum used to always make this when I was younger. We call it "Russian salad, back in France. I never thought that it actually was a Russian salad and thought that maybe there was another weird reason why we called it that way. :) we do it a little differently though :)
To this recipe we also usually add lots of boiled eggs which we would boil at the same time as all the vegetables (beets, carrots, potatoes and eggs in one pot). For the amount that Tatyana made, we would add at least 6 boiled eggs. Then make a vinaigrette with shallots (thinly sliced and enough of them so you have a nice bite), oil, white vinegar and salt and pepper. :) delish!
I boil vegetables, carrots 15 min, potatoes 20min, beets 40 min - boiling unpeeled, uncut. And I don't put pickles, I put sauerkrauts instead, also put beans.
Hi Tatyana, I have been to Russia twice and I remember I ate this salad that uses beets, too. But, it was also with fish and the dressing was with mayonnaise. Is it the same salad that you made here or is it different? I really liked it and if it's different than the one you made in this video, please make this beet salad with fish!
+TatyanasEverydayFood "Siloutka pod shubi" haha! Classic Russian dish that American's think is out of this world ;) You should definitely film this recipe, it's an interesting one! By the way, you rock! Thanks for all the Russian dish recipes! I want to try so many of them out! Molodests! Keep up the good work :)
I peeled the potatoes and the beets by accident before putting them in the oven and it's taking a while for them to bake. My carrots are still not baked after an hour
Hi Tatyana i love all your videos i dont post comment all the time but i watch your lovely videos can you please please please make the Russian carrot salad plz i think you know what im talking about thank you so much. 🙃🙃🙃🙃
+Shikufa Nazari Hi! Thank you for watching! Yes, I know exactly which salad you are referring to! That salad requires a special grater, which I don't have... maybe in the future!
+Ruthie I added peppers to mine (but I also used pickles) but I think that would be a good substitute if you like some sort of peppers like Greek Pepperoncini.
There's no alcohol in this recipe, that was champagne vinegar. You can use regular vinegar if you prefer :) I'm not an expert, but I do think this would be healthy.
This dish will be on my Thanksgiving table this year will host about 25 people 💜😲😲😲yes alot will kill me after this But thanks so much for your sharing I looking more of mix potato pinaple salad PLS Subcribered

More correctly, this is a Soviet-era salad recipe that was very popular in Ukraine. Beet-based potatoes salads actually have origins in Germany and Scandinavia. Just because Russians make a specific dish, doesn't mean it's actually Russian. I really dislike when people label everything 'Russian' when Ukraine had and continues to have a very strong culinary influence on the foods Russians also enjoy.
@@TatyanasEverydayFood Tatiana, read the history!!! Please please please. It’s actually very funny! Basically in the 18th century Alexander I (before the rupture of a Franco-Russian alliance) was inviting French chefs to cook. So on the kitchen they had a French chef and a Russian one. So the Russian one was boiling veggies, cutting it and putting all together. The French chef just came to ask what kind of dressing he’s gonna put there (not sure if you speak French, but dressing for salads in French is vinaigrette) and the Russian chef just couldn’t understand his French and just repeated “vinaigrette, vinaigrette!” - thinking that this is how they call this kind of a salad in France 😂 Really funny human story. I personally love it. Well ok. Actually, if we think about it, Alexander I was an Emperor of Russia, and back in a days Ukraine was a part of it. So at some point we can say that it’s also Ukrainian, but it was born in StPetersburg and has nothing to do with Kiev or whatever. Ukrainian cuisine is amazing, I love it so much. I cook borsch better than my mom 😎 But vinaigrette is not a part of it, honey. ❤
You're thinking of the salad dressing, which is a common confusion. This salad actually had nothing to do with the French influence during that period.
vinaigrette is my favorite food ever! I literally eat it 4 times a week. I think everyone should try it!
I had this dish at a Dominican holiday party (ikr), & it was truly amazing.
Thank you for the recipe.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)

russian - because it was red - we add red or white beans

That looks really delicious. Love the vinaigrette that you added. Never tried Ukrainian food before
You should, it's absolutely amazing! My background is Russian, and I absolutely love this dish along with others.
+Tasia Boldyreva I will definitely try it out
Татьяна вы молодец. Ну какое савподение. Мама сделала винегрет на 8-марта
Love the video!!😊
How long can this be stored in the fridge if it’s sealed?
Once it's dressed, I recommend enjoying it within 3 days.
can you do the cold russian soup recipe!?
I have that recipe in my cookbook, Beyond Borscht :)
I boil vegetables, carrots 15 min, potatoes 20min, beets 40 min - boiling unpeeled, uncut. And I don't put pickles, I put sauerkrauts instead, also put beans.
Sauerkraut is a great addition! I'm not a fan of beans, but my dad adds them, too.
Looks beautiful. I`ll make it today but minus the pickles
Wonderful! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
This recipe was delicious ........LOVED!!!!! Any recipe to go along with this Tatyana?? 😘

I missed Квашенная капуста 🤣😉✌

+TatyanasEverydayFood yes, that one! Please make it!! It's one of my favorite food from Russia among pelmeni and borscht :)
is that herring in a fur coat?
Is champagne vinegar the same as white wine vinegar?
Yes, very similar! White wine vinegar will work great :)
Can I steam my vegetables instead of baking in the oven?
Yes! Steaming will also work great! :)
Hey, bake are tested more firm rich then steam ( my experience) :)
hi I love this salad but my friend puts anchovies as well
You didn’t say cukes but you mentioned that they mixed with another flavor! Does or does it not have cucumbers?
This recipe doesn't have cucumbers.
what if I use pickled beets ?
I haven't tried using pickled beets but that might work well, too
peel the beet? leave frozen peas uncooked?
The peas were precooked and yes, I always peel the beets. They are grown in soil and will carry lots of gritty bits.
thank you
our dinner club, 4 couples, is doing Ukraine, I'm the side dish. this salad s sounds delish.
thx
Kidney beans better than peas❤
I peeled the potatoes and the beets by accident before putting them in the oven and it's taking a while for them to bake. My carrots are still not baked after an hour
Oh, no! Did you cover the pan with foil? That will trap the moisture and heat inside cooking the veggies faster.
you can boiled them as well

Now, for our PASCHA gathering, I will add diced ham
Hope you enjoy it!
No cabbage?
Sauerkraut is a great addition, too! :)
смачна тетяна
Yummy :)
we made it the same way but I think we add kidney means to our version
Lidia Yuzko I add beans too. Tastes great and good source of fiber.
I'm trying to like beets! To me they taste like dirt. Is there a substitute for the pickles? I don't like pickles at all.
+Ruthie Hmm, make sure to get fresh and firm beets and remove the skin after cooking them! Yes, you can replace the pickles with sauerkraut! :)
+Ruthie I added peppers to mine (but I also used pickles) but I think that would be a good substitute if you like some sort of peppers like Greek Pepperoncini.
+xxocelina That's a great idea! I like pickled peppers!
+xxocelina That's a great idea! I will try that next time! :)
I know this comment has nothing to do with the recipe but you have gorgeous hair
Thank you so much!
I second that😅
+LauraVitaly I saw dill, vinagar, pickles and olive oil and though you would like this :D
damn Tatyana
Your missing the pickled cabbage. 😳
You're missing good grammar.
How do you make pickled cabbage?
@hound
Google ---- *Sauerkraut*
I use pickles in place of sauerkraut.
Tasia Boldyreva and you are boring dude.
А где квашеная капуста?
I always add sauerkraut not vinegar.
Туда еще квашенную капусту для кислинки не плохо бы...
Apart from adding the alcohol.. is this good in pregnancy??
There's no alcohol in this recipe, that was champagne vinegar. You can use regular vinegar if you prefer :) I'm not an expert, but I do think this would be healthy.
That looks yummy! But the carrots are not large, they are just tiny hahhahaha
This dish will be on my Thanksgiving table this year will host about 25 people 💜😲😲😲yes alot will kill me after this
But thanks so much for your sharing

No way whole carrots are tender in 30 min at 375.
They might be done sooner, just test with the tip of a knife or toothpick
думала вы из России ☺☺☺
