Hello everyone!
Kelsey Bollig here, the Writer/Director of ‘Kickstart My Heart!’ This film is a very personal story of mine so it’s a pleasure to be sharing it with all of you. I’ll be hanging around the comments to answer any questions you may have about the film so ask away!
Thank you all for watching!
Bravo 👏👏
@@HHM.1
Such a beautifil short video, thank you for sharing! There are really great effects in this. What was th most tricky/challenging to make?
It was a really beautiful experience and a meaningful one! Well done!!
@@Strongbad251 The zombie fight sequence was definitely the most challenging sequence because it was our biggest fight with the most actors and we were filming in the smallest location. We definitely had to get creative with choreography and camera angles to help that scene feel immersive and fun!
Don't ever mess with a girl who wants to heal!
Great visualization of the struggle against trauma! I *really* love the concept as well as the execution. Thank you for this! (I needed to see this today)
Personal story time: My niece and her bf were hit by a drunk in a pickup truck. She was the only survivor but we thought she was done. She was so badly hurt, it was touch and go. But she was *strong* and she fought. She had so many broken bones, so many injuries...Long story short - she recovered...and went on to become a RN, marry and have *five* beautiful kids. She became a wonderful mother. And she remains my hero, because *nobody* ever fought harder than she did/does. (Love ya Julie!)
The horror that brought tears to my eyes. ❤❤❤ I guess the “younger brother” is in fact the “older” who died young. He came back to guide his little sister to fight for life. Such an amazing short. So emotional, so loving and so hopeful!
Brilliant actors too.🎉🎉
So different than what I expected and I loved it so much. And as an older sister who is very close to her younger brother, the scenes with Richie made my eyes fill with tears. Very beautiful.
I know exactly how u feel because I have a big brother, a little sister and 2 younger brother's and I am close with all of them

@@silvanavolante2248 I could never imagine my life without them, I love my family with my entire heart❤💗💞💕💖
Great movie ❤. I hope one day I will have a chance to meet again with my dead brother and mother. R.I.P. family. 😢
"you are going to be fighting monsters your entire life" my favorite part
So impressed by little kids acting skills. Richie was fantastic, so was the sister.. This was great!
This was very unexpected and awesome! Seems like nobody has mentioned this yet but I absolutely love the camera work in this film. The camera in the action scenes was so well choreographed. I LOVE IT!
Kelsey, this was an awesome short. I really felt her conflict of just wanting to give up, stop fighting and join her younger brother. Those graphic scenes showing X-rays of the impact and the very clear sounds of her bones crunching were intense, but then that one little piece of her mind reminded her to continue being the bad ass fighter she always was. Great acting by everyone. Had me tearing up.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
just want to posit that Richie could have just as easily been her older brother and she's now just age past the age at which he died.
Original and heart warming. This director needs to do more movies!!!
Whew. This turned out to be quite profound.
It is a beautiful interpretation of fighting for your life.
I love the white light that is common to so many near death experiences. Seeing loved ones that precede you was so touching.
The fight sequences were so well choreographed. It was very impressive. The black self ninja was my favorite The editing of the wreck aftermath throughout was also well done.
Kelsey Bollig deserves major kudos as I imagine this was quite an emotional roller coaster. The lead woman and the young brother were fantastic too.
The real footage at the end took my breath away as we are reminded that sometimes the fight continues. Very inspirational and as a Mental Health Counselor I absolutely love the spirit of this gorgeous work.
Thank You. Peace.
This made me cry. My dad died 2 months ago. I didn't feel much at first. But the grief comes and goes. Sometimes I just keep it to myself and other times I fall completely apart at work. Anyways, I know this is an odd comment but its how I feel.
Hey I hope you feel/are doing much better now, you might feel hopeless at times but take comfort in knowing that you'll see eachother again 🕊️❤
❤
Last scene between the brother and sister made me cry. Such a powerful and poignant short!
Cheers to ALTER for showcasing this film. Jeers for, as usual, minimizing and speeding through the mid credit scenes. Thankfully, I got to fully appreciate the inspiring images at regular speed in full screen on Short of the Week.
Is it that important to save 2 1/2 minutes that you’d rather rob us of the full appreciation of the work that goes into the art?✌️
this is beautiful. i always wonder what people who are in coma for long periods experience in those moments, is it just blank or are they really struggling to actually come back?!
Really did not expect it to go the way it did. Pretty dang good. Good story, entertaining, not boring, this thing hit all the points and some good drama there too. Kelsey, you did a great job on this. I love it. To the cast, you told the story beautifully.
Damn I didn't expect the horror movie to make me cry😢😢
Title shouldve been "Look All Ways." this was amazing and epic. keep them coming
I have this fight every single day without a Richie. Thank you. many lives will either be saved watching this or find peace watching this. Thank you.
Such a creative way of showing how we go through life fighting monsters-often of our own making.
The x-ray views showing the bones breaking was a great touch.
I was expecting this to be more creepy but this is something amazing and touching. Will power always wins
This film is incredible. The ending is so beautiful, it moved me to tears. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
This is an awesome film
You all did great ^^
Oddly fitting and cursed how I got a Saiontz & Kirk ad
Wow; what a powerful movie. The beginning had me unsure about whether I wanted to see the rest, but I’m glad I did. Great acting; would love to see another one.
“Ooo are you ready nuh-ow!!! Ooo are you ready nuh-ow! ow!” -Motley Crue
Didn’t expect an Alter Horror Short to make me cry today 😭
I expected this to be a lone short horror story but it was so touching and eye opening. There was a touch of action scenes, too. Kudos to the creators of this short film for the unique attack. 👏
That monster look like a female version of the new 2010 Freddy Kruger
5:49 yow.. that's almost look like a Mocobot shot...
hats off to the cameraman.. 👏🏼
Why y'all got me crying 😭😭😭😭😭this was top tier
I loved every minute of this. Very cool idea. The lighting that kick's in around halfway was top notch too. Well done.
Omg, that made me so emotional! Good job, amazing work
I read the title and thought of Motley Crue
Same. Even went to listen to the song afterwards
Same
Same here
Haven’t watched yet but will be bitterly disappointed if we don’t have a rampage with a baseball bat set to it

Really love this short! Never thought Alter will bring me tears!
Great work Kelsey Bollig & crew, this film was OUTSTANDING. Best wishes on your future projects.
Omg I was shocked at the beginning and then cried like a baby when the little boy showed up and you told him he was dead. Just finished the short and crying a LOT! What a deep and touching story, best one yet! It really affected me! I hope you are ok now and I’m glad he was there to help you fight to live. You will be reunited one day❤️You are very talented! I watch a lot of movies and shorts and this one grabbed my heart! Still crying… not usually one that does!
The car that hit her scared me
This was one of ALTER’s very best to date. Well done, gang.👍🏼
Kelsey, Glad you're here with us still if this is you fighting for your life in the accident. Hope you have a Wonderful second chance at it. This film is great, until I saw the ending of the actual footage. My heart flooded soo fast with feelings, and tugged my heart so. Thank You.
Have a Great Everyday!
I’m not crying it’s just an alter in my eye
This one was excellent, a definitive beginning, middle and end. Most important of all, it had a powerful message that didn't require you to incur a migraine to try and decode the message the film maker was trying to say. Fabulous!
Oh my gosh tears to my eyes 😭 so beautiful. I did not expect this, well done to all the fighters 💪❤️
im in legit tears rn this pulled some serious heart strings i folded as soon as the little boy told her she would fight alot of battles in her life but he would be watching
bravo

I would love a feature length movie of this, this was awesome
Jesus Christ that opening had me jump.
Welp wasn’t expecting to UGLY CRY while watching a horror movie! Then the added realization that this was based on a true accident was crazy. Thanks for making this beautiful film I LOVED it. So impressed with the choreography and the X Ray representations of her injuries. Very good movie. Wish I could watch the real stuff slower and on a larger screen… you miss a lot with it minimized.
Hey there, that was an awesome short! Love how the intro with the x-rays throws in some shades of the intro to final destination 5. Also this is my first "first comment" hehe nice.
Love a good ode to Final Destination 5 lol
Lovely story- you must be an amazing young woman to have been through hell and back and to be able to tell your story in such a creative and beautiful way. ❤
What an amazing film. I liked it.
3:25 “There’s no rules here”
Proceeds to turn into gear 5 ultra instinct full synchro.
Secrets, secrets, are no fun; secrets, secrets, hurt someone. Dang it, Richie! Just tell me: is it worth it?!
Thank you for this, Kelsey and crew ^.^
Certified Gold!!!!!!
Wow! This is absolutely amazing.
one of my favorite alters ever ! 10/10
I would love to see a part 2 this is a cool movie
This one was so amazing 😍😍😍loved the entire concept
Great work! I came because of the Brazilian channel Refúgio Cult recommendation and it was a nice surprise!
This was really good thanks for letting me watch this I was locked on the screen the entire time
This is so nice 🥹
If it was in my mind then I'd definitely be the op MC who summons two swords and slashes anything in his path (or at least I hope so 🙂)
Beautiful story, thanks for sharing it with us. Loved the graphic scenes. Bones broking and Girlfriend kicked some butt. Bravo 👏👍💐
I cried. Omgosh. Well done.
Great short movie. Would love to see more
I have the sudden urge to play kickstart my heart
Holy f*k.....just watched only the start then rewatched & now paused at @1:00. WOW already obsessed with your work! Being now-older & as a lifelong avid Alan Watts fan (Life, Death, Wisdom of Insecurity), his quote then already @1:00 (exactly, I noticed the timing), can tell this will be an award winner already. Now to regroup and watch the rest of the movie! After drying my eyes.....so glad you're ok. This hit personally hard, at 15 having lost an 11 yo sister then 3 yrs later I decided to fight my own fight...and it's been worth it as well. Hope you'll make more movies, this was exceptional!!
Thank you!!
Wow! I think I held my breath the entire video. Wonderful work!
Absolutely amazing!!! I would love to c this in a full length movie on the big screen. Bravo Bravo!!!!! 🏆♥️🥰
Holy moly! Another top 10 for 2023! Job well done and all the actors. Amazing this was intensify from the beginning job well done congratulations.! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I hope you get 1.5 million views on this one.
I watch actual Near Death Experience videos about daily now, often wonder if some ever get as exciting as this! Love the surrealist type like this one, hope you plan on making more.
Wow, this was powerful!
One of my favorites, great work!
Мне так хотелось, чтобы она выжила! Красивая девушка и трогательная история.
One of your best short films. Well done guys 👍
Beautiful film. Finally some thought into a movie. God bless.
Outstanding film! I have to much to say about it but it was all amazing work.
I loved this short film. U definitely put your hard work into this one and it shows… can’t wait to see what u have next
I really enjoyed this short. I loved the action packed scenes. I was throwing punches as I watched her fight off the zombies. I was that excited about it. 😅😁🤩
FUNKY,. Nice fighting scenes
That isn't horror at all, it was sad 😭❤
Wow, ummm wiping away tears!!! Great film as always. Rly don't know what to say.
Just like Noob in Mortal Kombat!
I was expecting kickstart my heart by motley crew to start playing at a fighting scene. Rippp but this was still v good and felt a little personal as I lost two brothers and helps me to realize to gotta keep going in life for them
This is beautiful. It was hype with the action but the meaning and story was so heartfelt. The actors elevated it as well, and wow I got tears welling up in my eyes by the time the credits hit.
Wow, wonderful film. Very touching.
I love this!
Love...form india❤
It really hit home.
All I can say was that was frickin amazing that was so good
One of my favorites by far
Awesome ! Love this ! Glad you're okay ! Beast Wishes !
I'm not crying!*
*In fact, YOU are crying!
nice., I like how original the script is...
It was so emotional and sad how someone has to say goodbye to the past and ghosts behind them and move on.
I wish it was so easy as that when you are fighting your demons to to fight for life. I was wondering who was that ninja girl in the end she fought? She wasn't a demon at all.
Thank you ALTER ❤❤❤
It was a beautiful movie
Wow, that was great. Fantastic job, congratulations!
First off big alan watts fan
I used to see this at Short of The Week. Now, it's in Alter ! This film deserves a shoutout.
It teached us one thing, if you want to cross the road while listening to the music, please take off your earphone. Or better, don't listen to music while jogging
First time a happy ending
Bravo!
wow, that was unexpectedly intense & deep :O
This was beautifully done! Thrilling perspective of literally fighting to stay alive. 🎉❤
