I found for a lot of loose joints what I found works is you take the the clear plastic from the clamshell and you make a little piece with the hole in it and then you put it you take your piece of part and you put it in between and that will stiffen it up and it works for a lot of different things besides macron it also works for transformers as well
What i did in my yf25 shoulder to tighten it is by applying dunlop glue on it. Doesnt seize but holds waaaaay tighter than any claimed toy joint glue or nail polisher Ive ever used. Hope that helps.
tightening joint: 1) clear nail polish 2) floor polish 3) clear super glue once you applied a thin coat, let it sit and rotate the joints, don't let it sit for too long if you use super glue. some toys i need to apply 3-4 layers to achieve the tightness I want. it's good that the joint is somewhat hidden under a panel, so you don't have to worry about overspilling the edge etc.
I actually have no problem with the toy, to me, the finish is perfect and this time with this widely available, the price is much cheaper compare to alto or ozma. However, one of my friends points out that the plastic finish on these are horrible with all these hairline scratches all over the plane. He usually collects hot toys and tf masterpiece figures; comparing those brands with these macross toys, he feels like they should have a better finish. I personally agree there might be some hairline, but overall I think the toy worth its price tag with all the joints and perfect transformation... etc. What do you think?
great review! u promised and delivered! about the shoulder issue with the isamu, I have the same problem with my alto custom. That shoulder is attached through a small cylinder piece and is very very tight. Unfortunately i have not figured out a way of disassembling it without causing potential damage or breaking it. My solution was to apply white liquid glue on the joint for extra friction (the one kids use for their homework). I removed the arm using the screw under the shoulder, to have clearance to the joint, and then applied the glue to fill the spaces between the pieces and provide extra friction. 3 applications with 5 minutes between each (I made sure the glue was filling inside the joint, you can move the pieces a little to facilitate the process). I let dry overnight and the next day reattached the arm carefully. It worked cause it is very tight again and it can still transform with no problems (this glue does not stick permanently this kind of material)... but dont know if this will be a temporary repair or worked for good. Still worth the shot while there's a better solution. Hope it helps!
Great Review! My guy has the same head laser issues sadly. Will try the hair dryer fix tonight though. Only other issue was a really stiff turret rotation joint. Bit worried if i over do it something may bend/break, so i've just left it for now. Otherwise i really love this as my first and only YF-29. Looks great next to the YF-30 i have too! :-)
I tried to heat blow-dry the 2 soft plastic pieces on the head, and then cool it down with cold water... it works for maybe a night, and next morning back to the messed up shape :(
It's a great looking toy... However after sitting in its box the last 2 years I decided to take it out last week and transform it, there's a tiny little piece of plastic that holds the crotch mechanism together when you swing the legs down, that part crumbled with no pressure what so ever applied. If you have this YF-29 do be aware of that.
@@francisisidroabcede8298 I haven't had time to fix it although if I'm correct, I think someone finally made a 3D printed part for this toy. One of these days I'll fix it, for now it just sits in fighter mode.
Grabbed this after watching this review. Got a question though, are the head lasers removable? I'd like to take them off to get some pins put into the joint for reinforcement so I don't twist them off, but I'm afraid that they might have used a mushroom peg for the head lasers this time to prevent removal.
+TotalBanzainess I posed this question on MacrossWorld since I don't have any experience. I'll let you know what I hear back. I did see that someone had rigid replacements up on Shapeways (you'd need to paint).
What are the prices for these Macross pre-built toys? I have the option to buy Perceval for 235,45 € as I'm in Europe, but don't know if this is too much for this, or is this the price that the toy originally cost and can buy it without any remorse. Would appreciate the response.
Since I own them I don't keep up on secondary market prices. You can usually find release dates and MSRP on anymoon in the collectability sectino, sometimes there's a visual presentation like this: i1.wp.com/anymoon.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Bandai-DX-YF-29-Releases-1.jpg
They need better quality control for a toy line that is this expensive. While my toy's head antennas are fine, its right arm has the same issue as your Isamu's and the right leg is also loose.
I've always been interested in Macross due to its Mecha design, but the price point and the change in feel sets me back quite a bit, as Ive only ever really dealt with Transformer figures (and very recently, Takara's Masterpiece Megatron). Any pointers I should know on this figure?
Ok, thanks. I was thinking about picking this up on eBay. I like the color scheme and was just planning on leaving it in fighter mode but if the head lasers are already bent, I think I will pass.
This could just be me and my slight OCD but mine came with like Greece on it and the gun and it has made the back finish a bit darker or bit messier looking has anyone else had this problem or is it just me or my lighting
Usually that's 'release agent' from the manufacture process... some toys have a lot more of it than others. I *THINK* a little warm water and dish soap gently applied with a cloth would clear it up.
What an incredible looking figure!

Love the color scheme on this one.
Love the mix of light and dark purple =D

That is just a temporary fix, i used the same technique to fix my MB figures, and it slowly loosen up again as i changing pose

Convinced me to get one.
I don't get it why Perceval is the only YF-29 toy that didn't have same color super pack (exclude the anniversary Version) ?
Love it but hated the sms base stand. Fortunately I had a spare NUNS one.

+jaydee.85 Awesome, I was thinking something along those lines was probably the best bet.
+ScorchedEarthToys so futureish and um I wish the wins didn't look like a Russian jet wing lol

hello, have you reviewed a vf that someone made. from a model that wasn't made to trans form ? I'm going to make a vf at 1/48 scale.

Were you able to fix this?

I think kids would love to play with this toy so don’t let them get anywhere near it...
mine came with one of the leg joins very loose... any fix for this?

definitely check out the print review on anymoon and the transformation video. after that, you'll be an expert
Does this come with the head lasers bent out of the box when purchased new?
sidearmsalpha yes, almost always they have at least a minor bend.

+Carlito Taveras HLJ
I hate all the crap hanging off the back of these newer designs when they're in batroid mode.
Quiero uno! alguien quiere darme una cotización?
