Not Eminem, but Puffy used and sampled the actual beat and really the whole song back in the mid-1990s...

I don’t believe it was a sample, I think Jimmy Page collaborated with Puffy. I think it was a remake.

should hear the live version from the "Celebration Day Concert 2007" their first playing together after 27 Years since they seperated in 1980.Of course without "Bonzo" (He died 1980) but with his son on the drums. Greetings from Germany

Great reaction guys to arguably Led Zeppelin's greatest song. It actually gets better the more you listen to it. That drummer you were praising is the great John Bonham. I have never heard another drummer to equal him.
More Zeppelin stuff you will enjoy; "When The Levee Breaks", "In My Time Of Dying" (studio version), "Achilles Last Stand", "How Many More Times" (studio version), "The Battle Of Evermore", "In The Light", "Heartbreaker", "No Quarter".

Great reaction! And I totally agree with you. The true magic of Led Zeppelin was in their studio recordings, with Jimmy Page producing all of their albums. John Bonham was Led Zeppelin's drummer... he was definitely the king of beats🔥 He hit hard and had a groove that was almost impossible to replicate back then... His untimely death in 1980 from alcoholism ended Led Zeppelin... John Bonham was the power behind the band.
His son Jason Bonham would play drums for their final show in 2007 🤘🔥

All the mad Zeppelin fans (gotta admit to being one too)will tell you to do live songs but you should do studio versions first because their live versions can be like listening to a totally different song sometimes. Once you know a song, you can then enjoy the live version more. I suggest you listen to "Achilles Last Stand" by Zeppelin. Another great band from the 70s is Deep Purple...i suggest you do "Child in Time" and despite what i said about live Zeppelin songs, you can listen to the live version of that song as its similar to the studio version but shows how talented the band members are, particularly the lead singer, Ian Gillan. You won't be disappointed. As a mad Zeppelin fan from Australia, i figured i had better subscribe so i have.

  • @JoshSmith-wo7zw

That's John Bonham on the drums. That's why they're not around anymore. They knew when John died they couldn't just replace him. You should watch the Kennedy Center honors with heart singing Stairway to Heaven they have his son Jason Bonham on the drums. The performance is so good that Robert Plant the singer/ front man for Led Zeppelin can't hold the tears back. He doesn't like people covering his music but he loved how Anne Wilson sung it. Definitely a good performance if you guys ever get a minute. Heart were really good in their own right back in the late 70's early to mid 80's. Definitely another group worth checking out. Anne Wilson has an insane voice.

Zeppelin music is for the emotions/vibes and will mean whatever connects with you. It is also often almost cinematic, even though that was not their intention. This song is what I consider one of their three "epics" meaning there is great scale and grandeur within them. The first is Stairway to Heaven - which you've already done - then Kashmir, then Achilles Last Stand - which you have not done yet. Zeppelin's music was sampled by a lot of people in hip hop. This song was used by Diddy in his song "Come With Me" for use in one of the Godzilla movies. It featured Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in it. Jimmy worked with Diddy because his son was a fan of Diddy's at the time.

if you like this one check out 'battle of evermore' i think you'll dig it. also, a couple other favs would be 'the rain song', 'when the levee breaks', 'goin to California', 'gallows pole', and 'in the light'
as for pink floyd, an underrated early one from them is 'fearless', although if it was me id stick to reacting to the more popular ones off of dark side and the wall till i had enough to pick up the whole album and listen to them all the way thru top tracks would be, from dark side, 'breathe', 'time', 'money', 'us and them', 'brain damage/eclipse', basically the whole album. from the wall, 'another brick in the wall pt1/ the happiest days of our lives/ another brick in the wall pt3', 'mother', 'goodbye blue sky', 'hey you', 'is there anybody out there', 'comfortably numb', 'run like hell'. 26 songs on the wall as opposed to 10 on dark side but more filler songs on the wall but even those are really good especially on a full playthrough.

They were into mixing in other musical genres that not many bands, especially heavy metal rock type bands, were doing. As someone said earlier they were influenced by the music of Morocco. Most likely Gharnati style. Thats why it sounds so different to western ears. Has those little slide steps that Robert does vocally. And the violin part sounds like an eastern instrument. Then Jimmy's guitar with Bonzos drums driving the entire thing down the dusty road with a heavy blues type sound. Unusual mixture of styles that just rocks.
Zeppelins whole thing was exploring and putting together different styles in the coolest way. It is probably their greatest song in this respect. Most consider this song their greatest achievement.
