Wow, Walt’s over here on his 50TH SURPRISE PARTY, and here I am only having had 1 surprise birthday party thrown for me in my 32 years. I need better friends.😔🤣
Walt and Skylar hashing out the details of the gambling lie is one of my favorite scenes in the series. Plus the WW scene. This is a straight up iconic episode.
1 - Mike wasn't the only one with a grazed ear this week... 2 - The baby blue cutaway got me, that bit never gets old lmao 3 - Wow, that fact about the disappearer, breaking bad is the luckiest show ever aired in my opinion. Everything that could have gone right went exactly right. 4 - Imagine being the voice actor for Sonic AND Jesse Pinkman. 1 - Such a bizarre coincidence! 2 - 🤣 3 - They really benefitted from having time to put the whole season together before it aired!! good call pointing out the "aww how nice... oops he got us!" scene. That is IMO the most underrated scene in the show. So well acted and devastating when you think he is finally showing humanity but then pulls the rug out
Little Fun Fact about "Major Tom", the song Gale is singing: It's a german classic. There is also a german version of the song. It got very popular in this year, as adidas presented the new kits of the german Football (soccer) national team for the then upcoming european championship. They used Major Tom in their advertising videos. The kits were so popular, that the song had a comeback in popularly this year. It is considered as one of the summer hits 2024 here in germany. It got even that popular, that the stadium-DJ plays exactly that song, every time the german national team scores a goal. I'm quite surprised Vince used exactly that song for gale! (It's by the way another connection of breaking bad to Germany)
The "you got me" was probably the smartest trick that Walt could do at some moment, turn the idea of being a criminal into a actual joke is like paint your bloody shirt with red paint, It is obvious, but turn a proof into a comic misleading
One detail you missed was that Walt saying jessie better be ready in 2 mins and that he's right outside his door is also what Jane's dad said when picking her up for rehab in season 2
9:58 You know, I wonder a lot where you get some of these details from. But that you dug up the fact that the french voice actor for Sonic the hedgehog is the same guy who dubs Jesse is absolutely insane!
That Major Tom sequence at the end make this the most epic episode of this series to date. Anyhoo, credits ranking time: Bullet Points is going over Open House for being such a bop. Bullet Points Open House Box Cutter Thirty-Eight Snub Tune in next time for Shotgun's ranking.
i always love to see the compilations of Walter saying Jesse because in my language it sounds like hes saying something like "where you at" or like "where you been" or something like that.
4:35 when I learned of the Color Chart I watched every scene paying attention to the color. It’s actually VERY telling. Jesse Mad he goes red. Jane turns back to drugs she’s in black. Skyler kisses Ted, she wears black. Yellow is for Meth and that’s why Marie is wearing it in the episode Hank finds out, and the episode Marie tells Skyler about Walt being caught… she’s wearing black. I love this show SM
@@betterwatchtvI just realized how much green is used in Face Off. I’d say for Saul & Walt it represents their greed that has got them in that situation. They are plotting action not only to stay alive, but to make more money. As for the side characters wearing green, being that green is a mix of Blue (Loyalty & Purity) & Yellow (The Meth Business) it could show that the innocence are getting caught in the middle of what Blue & Yellow represent. I would love to know Vince’s thought on that too
Yeah, Vince commented on Skyler wearing green with Walt in Bullet Points because she has been “corrupted” by him. Maybe it fits with Saul because he was in on the Brock scheme!
3:33 Walt taking the spotlight from Hank by knowing more about minerals. It's a nice parallel to s1 e1, on Walt's birthday, when Hank took the spotlight from Walt, when he asked Walt to hold the gun, and also when they turned on the TV to see Hank's success
Wow, I'm so mad that I missed that!! BersteiN did point out that it was a German artist, and then this connection is pretty interesting! Thanks! In exchange, maybe here's an interesting fact for you: Wikipedia says that for Deutschland 83, Major Tom was only the intro music for the North American and UK broadcasts?? (And the German broadcast used Blue Monday.) But then I guess they used Major Tom everywhere for the next two. 🤷♂️
hey i just wanted to say I found your channel not very long ago and I've gone on a massive binge of every Hidden Details video. today i saw this in my recommends and it was such a happy surprise please keep doing what you're doing, your content is amazing and so are your editing skills!
Definitely one of my favorite episodes, I love the end sequence with the intense music as Walt searches for Jesse. Gives me season 2 ‘can’t leave him behind’ vibes!
4:44 about that, I also realized how Skyler was quick to join in with Walter and start developping manipulation techniques (just like Walter) as she started supporting him more. Like, for example, the whole gambling script is manipulation of her own family.
5:41 there's also a handrawn map of the Sandia Mountains and area. You can see the borders of the park as well as important roads like i40, i25/us85 labeled. Goes to show how much detail was put into this show.
10:54 you didn’t point it out but i sense some similarities with this scene and when jane’s dad was driving to jane’s house because she hadn’t shown up to rehab

Hank referencing The French Connection “Popeye Doyle waving to Frog One” has got to be _connected_ to Jesse playing Sonic whose French voice actor is the same as his. I appreciate the level of hidden details you cover & the ending sequence made me wish I’m a member.
The movie Alpha Dog is a crime film with time traveling video games, similar to Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing in this episode. It could be the earliest example of a crime film or any movie with such continuity error of video games. Alpha Dog is the true story about a young drug dealer who in real life is named Jesse & also becomes a fugitive. The film follows a kidnapping & subsequent needless homicide, paralleled by the following blindfold scene in this episode. Jesse _comes home_ to find his money gone & plays the video game, it connects to Gale singing Coming Home- a German song with Thai subtitles in his video. The word ‘sonic’ refers to sound waves & the guy Jesse gets pizza money for talks about “radio frequencies, microwaves & cell phones.” Altogether, this intricate theme of languages & Gale’s music video in space further convey the flat earth undertones of this show. Its also intriguing that Mike is shot in the right ear by Mexicans in the intro, considering one day before your previous video the exact same happened to Trump while presenting a chart about Mexican immigration.
I've also noticed a little error around the 6:35 mark, when Walt is looking through the poem, it's a whole notebook, but when he shows it to Hank it's just some loose pieces of paper on top of each other. It's a little too late to mention now but I think you'd enjoy it
Oh yeah!! I thought that might have been my fault with the way I edited it, but I looked back and sure enough, it cuts from him folding back the other pages to not doing that! Thanks!
One might theorize that the discussion of oxidation of manganese could be tied into the shirt colors. Hank and Junior are wearing copper orange, while Skylar’s shirt is like oxidized copper - blueish green. Tarnished or corroded.
