140 YEAR OLD Passenger cars on The Colonial Express Mixed Train - Australian Trains

This week Schony747 is line side at The Victorian Goldfields Railway (VGR) filming the heritage railway's Colonial Express Train which only runs twice a year. The consist is a mixed train with the highlight being the 140 year old 6 wheel passenger cars. The freight part is a mix of former goods wagons that used to run with The Victorian Railways. Diesel Locomotive Y133 in full VR Blue and Gold Livery is hauling the train. The line itself opened in 1884 and closed in 1976. The VGR now operates the full length of the former branch line as a tourist railway.

I took a ride on the second run. It sounded great

I still remember when these carriages came to the Mornington Railway in the early 2000's for the Ned Kelly movie. We used them on our regular Sunday service, I was only a new guard back then, its a highlight I will never forget.
