I'm glad to say that Strictly Limited Games is releasing this collection in ENGLISH for both Switch AND PS4! EDIT: Here is what's new with the latest update ruclips.net/video/a2O-BA2pMVQ/видео.html EDIT 2: Darius Cozmic Revelation is coming out THIS WINTER!
In regards to the dialog that you didn’t know why she said “I have always wanted a thing called tuna sashimi” it’s actually a joke because tuna sashimi is a form of sushi and all Darius enemies are fish. It’s actually funny.
Good news. This is coming to the North American/European eShops next month, so you will not have to import the physical version from Japan if you don't want to.
Hi, thanks for the great review! Could you tell me if it is possible to enable the rapid fire setting in gaiden as found in the arcade cab dip switch settings? There was a cheat in the Saturn version to do so.
Oh yeah! If you pause the game, you can completely customize your controls. Then when you've selected the fire button you just press Y(on switch) and it'll cycle through several different rapid fire options ranging from 5 shots per second up to 30. This applies got all of the games in the arcade collection and you can even have multiple buttons dedicated to different turbo intensities
Glad it could help you! The games have been updated since I made this video. They even added the Turbo Grafx or rather PC Engine version of Darius Plus to the Console edition. I've got videos on those as well if you're interested in the subtle changes the games have gone through
Bofner I am very interested thank you! I really do hope that they do add Gaiden Extra.. but I doubt they will because of it being an unofficial ROM Hack. But I would love to see G-Darius be in a Collection for Darius. But what games would come with it?
@@archienyaa I'm not sure to be honest. They announced a Cozmic collection 2, so they'll put something. I'm not familiar with any other Darius games though except for darius burst, which I highly doubt would be there since it's so new
Bofner Dariusburst and G-Darius would be a good mesh especially since they’re both 3D/2.5D Darius games. It’s just that I doubt that they’ll add Gaiden in and on top of that add a unofficial ROM Hack in, the least they could do is compensate or recreate what the ROM did by making all stages playable and redesigning stages like Extra did. That’d be a really nice addition.
Unless I'm taking my partner's power up from deaths on Gaiden there's no way in hell I'd ever be able to reach full power ups minus the bombs which actually stay. Gaiden is great on my Taito Legends 2, the PS2 version you said, but if I'm playing solo like most the time I only ever have three fireballs at max for power throughout the game (cause I put it on no lives after dying) unless I get real lucky enough to get one dinky wave at Ancient Dozer, and after that most likely I die and lose it.
Got mine today! Nice but they should have added this to a full new game not released as stand alone but it is what it is. Not bad but you really need to be a fan to really enjoy this.
one thing that I noticed after playing Gaiden a lot more was that the bombs don't go off as easily as they do in the Saturn version. Sometimes I have to mash the button multiple times before it registers my input which is a HUGE issue in a game like this
@@Bofner , will there be DLC that will come out for this game later? I say that G Darius, any special version of G Darius, Darius Gaiden Extra, the Sega Saturn/PS1 ports of Darius Gaiden, Super Darius II, Darius Plus, Darius+, Darius Gate, Darius Ocean, Darius Full Complete Version (FCV) for the DoCoMo900i and 901i mobile phones, Darius/Darius complete Version/Darius Complete Version Wide, Darius Wide, Darius The Origin, Super Darius, the official Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini version of Darius, the prototype two player version of that same port of the game, and the whole DariusBurst series need to all be future DLC for that series because if you are going to call it the Darius Cozmic Collection, then you need to have every single Darius game ever for that collection.
@@paxhumana2015 I wish, but I highly doubt it. I've wanted a Darius Gaiden Extra port to consoles for a while now, and having G-Darius on the Switch would be great, but I wouldn't hold your breath on it
You input them by pushing one of the shoulder buttons. So you caaaaaan just credit feed if you want, which I don't enjoy doing. This is one of the reasons I prefer the Saturn port of Darius Gaiden. Having the strict 3 credit limit was a fun challenge that both restricted me, but also got me to practice the game a lot and get good enough to get a 1 credit clear.
Hopefully this comes to the Canadian eshop as well. On the Japanese eshop they have two versions. Darius Cosmix edition and Darius Consumer edition. The Consumer edition costs more. Don't read Japanese so I can't tell the difference.
Consumer edition comes with the home console games, so that'd be what I called the "special edition" games. I personally think that the arcade version is better solely because it has Darius Gaiden. I do prefer the home console versions of Darius 2 to the arcade, but Darius Gaiden is far and away the better game, and I've put over 40 hours on just Darius Gaiden alone, which is easily more than double what I have for the others.
Depends what you're looking for. They're almost identical except for a few differences; The Cozmic Collection has the original Arcade ROM, so the english text for the endings and prologue are unintelligible, and the game just runs faster on the cozmic collection than it does on Saturn. Gameplay-wise you won't notice the speed difference except for when you defeat Golden ogre and his parts fly into the background. There are also a couple of slightly different sound effects too. The Saturn also defaults to giving you 3 continues, Cozmic Collection just lets you feed as many credits as you want. I personally prefer the Saturn version, but there really isn't that much of a difference
I feel the exact same way. Unfortunately the arcade versions do. They start off with none and you just input credits with a button press. That's why I prefer the Sega Saturn versiono f Darius Gaiden. The console versions of the darius games have limited continues though
Ever heard of like...oh I dunno... Not putting in more credits lol?? You either want the 1cc or not. Use some willpower to NOT insert more credits. Simple...
I actually made a whole video on that! ruclips.net/video/jgBA0otB3E4/видео.html But basically, they're home console ports of the arcade games, as well as some console exclusive games. The console versions differ anywhere from slightly to a lot compared to the arcade versions. I go into more detail in my other video though
Yeah, the special edition was about $150 if I remember correctly after converting it from yen. I was honestly a little disappointed with the stickers, dinner plate and art book that came with it, but I'm very happy to have all of the console versions of Darius games that came with it. Thanks for watching!
@@Bofner yeah but I'd want all the games as well, however I won't even consider $150 USD.. That's like 230 in my currency.. crazy. No game is worth that (in my opinion of course, I understand collectors who buy must haves for themselves, none of MY business!) Thanks a lot for the reply, can you believe I only saw the answer now? I had no idea as i wasn't notified until now, but that was for the latest message, which lead me to the first reply.
Teddy M Damn, sorry you couldnt get the answer until now. Tbh most of the extra games don't do a whole lot for me. I like the MD version of darius II but most of my playtime has been between darius II and Darius Gaiden
That's totally fair. Darius Gaiden also has some slowdown and a glitch where the bombs won't go off, but I heard there will be a patch to fix those coming this summer
G Darius was honestly a let down in comparison to the rest of the series. Honestly, though, I hope that G Darius, the Game Boy Sagaia, the Game Gear Sagaia/Darius II, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini port of Darius, both the official release, and the two player prototype, Super Darius II, Darius Gaiden Extra, and the entire DariusBurst series will be future DLC for this game.
Darius Cozmic Revelation is releasing in Winter 2020. I do not agree with previous statements, G-Darius is my FAVORITE Darius of all with Gaiden in a close second.
You got it backwards my friend.. the western releases of most arcade games (and even console games) are harder.. it's usually the Japanese that is easier.. true!

Here to spread the word! Darius Cozmic Revelation in Winter 2020! G-Darius HD and Dariusburst ACEX+!!
The added difficulty might be due to extra input lag on switch.

In my experience with G Darius PS1, lag usually helps me at least, the bullets slow down
I want the PlayStation 1 G Darius! That was amazing.
Ian Long I really wish that was on this collection! Maybe we'll get a standalone switch release? We can always hope hahah

It's really pronounced "da-rye-us"
Yes it is. In the Japanese pronunciation. But knowing this, I still say Dar-Ree-Us. It's no real matter.
