How to Keep Text in Cell in Excel | Stop Text from Overflowing | Prevent Text from Spilling Over

- In this video I demonstrate four different ways you can prevent text from overflowing into adjacent cells. By default, text will spill over into adjacent cells, if those cells are empty. To prevent this from happening, you can use one of the following methods:
1) Use fill alignment
2) Wrap text
3) Enter a space into adjacent cells - there's a quick way of doing this using Go To Special
4) Use Shrink to fit
------------------------
I can't wrap around my head that it is almost 2024, and there's still no straightforward way to do this. Absolutely crazy! If you use the fill option on two adjacent cells, the spilling-over issue comes back. I AM MAD!
I only ever comment on videos like this if it has really really helped me find exactly what I wanted...
The Wrap Text + Cell Height to 15 worked PERFECTLY for me... exactly as I wanted.
THANK YOU!
The "Replace Blank Cells" option (starting at 2:20) is superb. Works in Excel 2000, BTW. Love the CTRL + ENTER trick to enter the same value into all cells.
Just recently started learning Excel for my work task. This helped a lot to make it more pleasant to the eyes. Thank you!
When I say I was at work stressed working on this spread sheet thank you
Great actions!! Thank you for this tutorial Chester!
Thanks so much I really needed this for school and I'm new to Excel!
Thank you Cheser, really helpful! Have a good start into the new year 🙂
Thanks Chester; another informative training video, that covers all aspects of text spilling to adjacent cells.
03:40 I noticed "Shrink to fit" is checked on Excel files converted from PDF. It was driving me crazy because I had no idea there was an option like this and had to keep widening cells. Thanks for the video
Thanks Chester.
Thanks, wrap text was what I needed.
To the point USEFUL video - THANKS
you solved my problem
Thanks a lot

Thank You, You r more precise. thank you

Thanks so much Sir 🙏, I really needed this type of video. Keep it up Sir.
Most welcome
Very clear - thank you
Ugh it's so dumb that fixing this takes so many steps... Where in google sheets its just one button on the home screen. Excel Needs a "Clip text" option!
Great tips! Thanks Chester.. always helpful :))
What if I want to let text spill over into another adjacent cell? Is there a way to enable that after importing data and converting it into a range?
helpful, thank you
what is the permanent solution? It starts again when opening a new book/sheet. This problem started after copy data from pdf file and pest on a blank sheet.
Thank you :))
Why can't it just be simple... dont spill over without making a huge deal or do something to another cell.
