  • When using Excel, there are times when you absolutely need all of the contents of a cell or column to be visible. By default, if there is a lot of information in a cell, Excel only shows you the first part of it, and the rest is either hidden or “spills” over into the next cell or cells. If there’s a large number in the cell, then it may show up as a series of hash symbols ####. There are three excellent methods for making sure all of the contents of a cell is visible. This video will demonstrate them for you. ***Consider supporting Technology for Teachers and Students on Patreon***: / technologyforteachersa... You're the best! Yesterday I ruined 5 rows by saving by mistake trying to add to much info into a cell without knowing how to line break like this. Now it will never happen again!

Something so simple and yet so useful. Unsurprisingly, I only knew one of these methods. 😆 Thank you for the reminder on the line break. 👍

Thanks for the video. A somewhat related question. How could I ‘embed’ a separate document (or object) into a spreadsheet cell - something so large that it exceeds the maximum Excel cell capacity. For example in your case, a large biography or picture of the president. When selected, the item should pop-up in a separate window with appropriate viewing capabilities - zoom, scroll, etc. Would also want to be able to distribute the spreadsheet with the ‘embedded’ items but prevent modifications. Thanks.

Sounds like you want to create a list of hyperlinks which are linked to other tabs in the Excel Workbook that have said embedded documents. You can then protect these embedded documents by using the Protect Sheet function in Excel.
