The reaction is understandable. It's hard to keep your cool when you crash like that but it can happen to anyone. "That's what crash bars are for". It's good to ride with someone that can help you keep your cool.
Crash guards are most important upgrade. I hit a deer on my x 300 last weekend. They provided enough space to not crush my leg against rocky ditch embankment
Looks like the bars saved some very costly repairs and allowed you guys to continue riding for the day. Place looks awesome, glad the bike and rider where un hurt.
I crashed my BMW into a hedge, but it was a soft bushy hedge, about 3 feet thick, and the part I crashed into had no solid interior. It was like crashing into a giant sponge. I had to climb off the back off the bike and pull it out by the luggage ruck far enough so I could reach the handlebars again. No damage or injury whatsoever. I'd had to unbank it going round a corner as there was a giant tractor over my side of the white line and ended up, literally, in the hedge 👍
Can't quite see if he hit the paint line, rest of the surface looks about as good as any public road can be. Possibly the first time the bike had been leaned onto a cold chicken strip (seeing who the owner is there probably isn't much of one but if they are new tyres).
When I see incidents like this it reinforces the added value of my 2022 Versys 1000 with 6 axis IMU providing both lean angle ABS/traction control. It is easily well worth the premium price difference over the budget Versys 650. I'm 95% certain this tech would've never let this happen in the conditions shown watching this video. Just imagine for a moment the car coming the other direction was a bit delayed and approaching at the very moment this happened. Potential road salad moment. More riders should demand and be willing to pay for such tech from manufacturers that only cost about $400 more than standard ABS for a 50% reduction in risk. By the way I have SW Motech crash bars installed and mainly for an inadvertent tip over which has never happened to me on the street. To me a low side or high side event should be something that's as unlikely as getting hit by a bowling ball in the middle of road.
It looks like he was barely moving when he went down. Just wondering what was the cause? Good to know about no damage as I have a Versys with both the cash bars and hand guards installed.
When you watch from the rear camera it looks like there is something on the road whether it be water or not I cant tell but it looks like it aligns with where his rear tire rode over causing the slideout. May be wrong. Glad hes ok.
Hi guys, can you please help me with a short info regarding the crash bars, specifically through where did you connect the crash bars with the long bolt? I couldn’t find any space there. Thank you a lot!
Looked like the rear tyre hit that bit of poured tar in the centre of the road. They use a lot of it in the states, and it's lethal, even in the dry. I almost dropped a Harley Dyna doing a U turn in dry conditions in Millwaukee, when I was visiting a few years ago.
Lol.. I know that feel. I was down on a similar lowside too... And the first thing i did was to give a good punch down the tar and curse like mad before getting up.
+Jason Wang This video is from 2011 when SW-MOTECH did not make handguards. Since then they collaborated with Barkbusters to create the Kobra handguards and they also make their own version of the Barkbuster's VPS handguards. The two companies collaborate with each other and Twisted Throttle is fortunate to be the U.S. distributor for both brands.
"Replace a handguard and a crash bar" Or, y'know, buy a 5 buck black rattle can. It's not some ducati show pony anyway, an ADV tourer aint really yours 'til there's a few scratches on there.
+Danilo Gonzalez That really depends on how damaged they are. The wall thickness of the tubing used in SW_MOTECH crashbars is much thicker than GIVI or R&G crashbars so they should continue to provide protection beyond the first impact, again depending on the severity of the crash.
+TwistedThrottle.com I was parking the bike, so I was doing no more than 10 miles. The right bar had some scratches and bended a bit in one of the points where it is secured to the chasis
I did this yesterday low side at 25mph! wished I had these on my tiger. Came out ok the hand guards, mirrors and foot pegs too the brunt, I took most of it though LOL. 330.00 later and it will be all fixed! so do the math people :)
+survivaleveryday I had similar crash at 25 mph last May ... my repairs cost $1800 and yeah, I wish I had crash bars on my versys as well ... of course, I'm checking them out now ... after the horse has left the barn ...
Not true at all. Sometimes you just hit something snotty. So many factors beyond the rider are involved. Case in point: I've taken the same turn on my street for years at the same speed. One day the bike just went down for no reason.
Reaction of this guy makes me laugh, i crashed 1 mont old bike WITHOUT crashbars on curve full of diesel and with biger speed, but i didin't curse or punched tarmac. I wouse thanking luck, that the driver in the car, behind me, was not a blonde women
Just to be fair.....Could you do it again on the other side?
The dent in the pride is often worse than the damage on the bike............

You're a good riding partner. Comforting and supportive.

how in the name of god did you manage crash on that corner?
I thought it was intentional until I see the car in front...

Engine revel a bit ??? And back end kick out on white line??? I don’t think he knows either
@@pascalgelineau2736 You can see on the tail camera, the oil patch on the road.
Next on my shopping list: Barkbusters.... :) Already have crash bars.. This is great proof of concept.

@MotorcycleGuy2000 Not sure what happened, but it wasn't intentional. It was just an extremely tight hairpin curve.

:D Until 1:51 I thought it was all intentional
So, have you got some cheap handguards and crash bars for sale...? ;)
Shame there were no boxes on the side carrier, would like to see if they would survive, otherwise might have to get a wider bar.
@@dentistguba they wouldnt need luggage bars
that background btw is so amazing

I don't suppose you guys are planning any crash bar or crash frame designs for any of the Piaggio MP3 series, are you?
@TwistedThrottleCom what type of apparel is the man in green wearing in other words what brand of jacket?
hi, was the crash deliberate?
So... sW Motech owners bike is equipped with a Barkbuster hand guard.

TwistedThrottle.com sw-motech owner have a versys but the centre stand that hi selling is horrible.

Anyone know if they are SW-Motech foot pegs? Also, is that a post 2010 Versys? Cheers

I had a similar crash.... Should the crash bars be replaced or can they be repaired (repainted and reinstalled)?

are those foot pegs stock? so you can remove the rubber??
Yes, you can remove the rubber.

good job twisted throttle :)
Well... It seems I'm not the only crazy guy who uses a drag racing helmet in a dual sport motorcycle!!!!...
I'm not sure how keen I am on the massive chin bar on a lot of ADV helmets, looks like a neck snapping handle to me.
What caused the crash? It seems that the road was in good conditions and the speed wasn't very high
At 1:47 i saw some oil patch on the road.
I would seriously look for another set of tires.
You picked a beautiful place to crash. Glad you are ok .
where is that place? heaven? Regards from Chile.
Watch the oil stain on the road at the rear view take. I think the front wheel sliped off about it.
1:47 to be exact. I believe you are correct sir.
Great Biker skills....
did the job
Looked like panic rear braking in a decreasing radius turn. Ah, life's little lessons...
what had happened?
This is where frame sliders just wouldn't do.
has nothing to do with Dunlop tires or oil on the ground , has everything to do with the rider..
Not true at all. Sometimes you just hit something snotty. So many factors beyond the rider are involved. Case in point: I've taken the same turn on my street for years at the same speed. One day the bike just went down for no reason.
Lol.. "Test"... Riiiight ;) ;)
Yeah agreed... more like need more bike lessons lol
Fucking Dunlop tyres....crashbars is fine :)
I dont think this is the test.
I know its the business, but not that much for a piece of iron !!!

No worries. My blonde women will notice you with ease!
antoehr person who should stick to cars
Or encouraged and educated, so they can enjoy riding like everyone else.
Inexperienced rider , he needs to go back to school 😉
