Great videos brother💪🏼 Thank you for always keeping me on top of my Home Internet game out here in the sticks!
You're welcome! Glad you like the videos
Just setup t-mobile internet last nite. Watched your vid hours before. Tried using old providers username so wouldn't have to reprogram each device per your instructions. Wow. Really worked. Thank you. Also t-moble app started acting funny gliching out telling me the gateway was on but not connected to the internet. Ended up uninstalling then reinstalling. Was fine after that. Again thanks for your little trick. Saved mucho time.
Just got a T-Mobile home wi-fi. Took me a few tries to get it set up and connected to my various devices. Works better than what I had before at half the price. Signal strength is excellent.
An absolutely detailed and well articulated unboxing. Very informative and impressive, nicely done!
Thanks Ron!
Love your videos. Keep em coming. :)
Hi Nate, Last week I was told by T-Mobile tech that I probably wouldn't be able to swap my Arcadyan Wifi Gateway for the Sagemcom as it was being pulled from production. This was due to balky response from the units to TMobile update pushes out to them. Looking for your review of 5G Gateways from other vendors (not from the telecom companies). Keep'em coming. Great stuff.
You got one?!?!?!? Can't wait to watch this one.
great video. I've had the Nokia model since I moved over at the beginning of Aug. I have not had any issues except on 1 day on day 3, and I believe it was installing an update, as it was down for about 3 hrs, since then, not a single issue. Getting the cooling fan has helped a lot to help the unit stay cooler. I do, out of habit, reboot the unit every couple of days right before I go to bed as I have seen people mention speed increases after it has been rebooted. I live close enough to the towers to be able to get on avg 475-675 on avg down and 20 to 30 up. I was only able to get 50 max down with ATT at twice the cost and I will not use xFinity due to it constant down time in my area.
Same for me and I stay in rural Georgia.
This is the unit I have. So far I like the speeds. Just don't like the inability to open it so I can use my own router without interference with the gateway. Im looking into options available but for now I play with this and continue with X-Finity. This might be a great option for when we go out on the road. I can power up anywhere because I have a full sine wave inverter to power the gateway.
Great content Nate. 👍
Thanks for your videos Nate. I wonder why these routers aren't designed with external antenna ports. T-Mobile would be able to sell more services to users in rural areas.
Excellent video! I subscribed.
You are doing great!! Keep up!
From a T-Mobile retail employee, they should work out issues with the hardwwre before shipping these out. I got one, and had to send it back. I now have the Nokia model and have had no issues.
Mine arrived today. Looking forward to learning more about it.
nice!
Another great video Nate!!!
Thanks
I got the version3. I went down to Toledo and while my wife was shopping, I stopped in a T-Mobile. Just asked to upgrade to version3 and with no questions asked he agreed. I drove back to Monroe and got my old unit and brought it to him before he left.
I'm very glad I did, it is a much better, stable signal than version2.
Thanks for all the info. I hope to get the courage to modify it for an antenna.
Awesome, glad they were able to swap it out for you on the spot!
Just got our 5688 and Waveform 4x4 mini antenna kit. Can't wait to see how your final wire compares to ours!
The only trick/thing to note on the 4x4 is that polarization does matter so the order that the 4 antenna leads are hooked to the gateway can affect speed. I dont have a vetted answer just yet, doing some testing.
@@NaterTater any updates ?
I hope it is just as good or better. Needs to be faster. And still have all the options
I use that arcadyn modem right now here in my camper van I'm currently working on going to Rochester MN
Can't complain so far with the Arcadian and waveform 4x4. Solid 100/20. Trees man, trees.
Do the trees cause a big issue? Or, does the waveform handle that? How good was the cell signal prior to the router?
It depends but can reduce signal levels by 20 percent so but if the tower is above the tree line and your home is away from the tree line of at least 1500 at a mile or less you should be good.
Do you have the panel-style Waveform antenna, or the one with 4 separate log-periodic antennas tilted at 45 degree angles? They claim the panel, despite lower gain, can be preferable when you don't have direct line-of-sight to a tower. Also, about how far from your tower are you, and which bands do you usually connect on? I'm at 1.6 miles and hoping for B41 with external antennas, but with lots of trees in between, so that may be difficult
Hi Nate. Thanks for all the info on this stuff. I was having some trouble with my Nokia gateway (dropouts?) so I went to my local T-Mobile store yesterday and swapped it out for a new Sagemcom unit. It's working great now, but what I did not realize was that unlike the Nokia, the Sagemcom will not allow you to have any blank spaces in your SSID. What that meant to me was rather than a simple swap out, I had to use a different SSID and then go into every single device in my house and re-connect it using the new SSID. That's close to 30 devices! Some of which I had to figure out how to do (like "smart" ceiling fans) but all good now. Just thought your followers may want to know that in advance :)
Yes good point. Too late now but you could use my powershell script or the user created hint app to add the space on the sagemcom!
This is my SSID issue as well! It was so annoying and I thought I was doing something wrong.
Hi Mr. tater my band with changes several times a day beat to an end 41 in 71 I don’t know why but it does affect the speed and the downloads maybe you have some insight on that thank you Bill Forgot to mention I do have the Arcadian
Each morning I reboot my gateway. I've noticed that sometimes (especially on weekends) that my speeds are "downgraded" when the tower is busy and it stays that way unless I reboot it.
We still have the Nokia and have been on since launch. It's crazy that Tmobile wouldn't reward its older customers with upgrades. Took over an hour on the phone to get them to agree to send us a new one.
I live in a mobile home in Indiana and just got one of these today. It is weird getting signal here sometimes, but with the device showing 3 bars in the purple graphic indicator on the screen, I went to speedtest and connected to the 123net server in Southfield and my mind is blown away... 378.11 down and 6.96 up... and the down has the variance that you described as on some servers I can get up to 15 or more. I have to say that I am impressed! Had no idea if this would work well at all, and now it is working better than I could have imagined given our circumstances! :) I am having problems connecting my printers to the router, but have them on a shared network elsewhere. Not sure what is up with that.
Glad it working well for you. Printers and other "lower tech" devices can have trouble figuring out the combined 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi bands. Seperate the two bands by naming them different things. You can use the app to do that: ruclips.net/video/7NJ7TJ_1VZk/видео.html
@@NaterTater: So this morning I fixed it once I woke up enough to fiddle with it. I remembered you talking about how you can create multiple networks with various settings in a video I watched a few days ago, so I created a second WiFi network that I hid after the fact, but I set it to 2.4 only, and I changed the password type so that they could communicate with it better. Now everything is hooked up including the printers and happy times are here. :) And yes, I do wish I could do more with the administration side, and that I could force it to n41 or better since towers around here can do that, but the one that does 2.5 is broadcasting it the other way... I do get 5G UC here on n41 most of the time, though today has been n71 most of the day... but still over 200s depending on the test server I choose. Thank you for your help! I wish that the main account older would let me open the box up, but they do not want me to void the warranty, which both his store and my store have said that opening it up does, so... perhaps down the line one of the custom routers.
Again, thank you for your help! :D
Nice vid! I just got one too. Is there a Expert mode/setting? Tried the gateway IP, 192.168.12.1 and URL mobile.hotspot. It works great with my computers and Chromecast. Yet will not work with any of my Sonos devices. The Sonos app will not see the T-Mobile wifi, either 2.4G or 5G. I have an iPhone 13. Thoughts? Can I turn the WiFi off? Might try adding another WiFi router to the ethernet port and having Sonos on that network. Thanks!
I have 2 Arcadian lines now but have had the white LTE box as well as the Nokia box since I been at this since the beginning with Tmobile. It wasn't until I got the Nokia gateway when I figured out I was on that fine line of the 5g extended and 4g LTE area. After doing much testing I realize I prefer the LTE 4g results. I'll tell you I tried like heck when I had the Nokia box to get my hands back on the white LTE box! Called many times, called stores etc. Supposedly they discontinued them that soon after rolling out the Nokia gateway. Even called them and wanted them to cut off the 5g on the Nokia box as well as Arcadian and they tell me they can't. Either way I'm kinda stuck now because I have a Netgear Orbi mesh Wi-Fi 6 and the other white LTE box wasent Wi-Fi 6. My speeds use to be great here in VA but feel like the last month or 2 it's been terrible. I'm asumming tower conjestion as so many people have signed up now. Everytime you call they give the same ol tower maintenance excuses, engineer's are working on the work orders/tickets for your tower or area etc. They just read from troubleshooting notes and are telling people the same stuff. I may look into MIDDLE OF NOWHERE INTERNET as they have 2 routers to choose from and they can do band locking which is really what I need I think. I feel like I do alot better when staying off the 5g signals
Wonder if I should call T-Mobile and get the Sagemcon. I currently have my 3rd Arcadyan replacement and this 3rd replacement is messing up sometimes. Twice when I have rebooted it. The screen on the Arcadyan went all fuzzy white. It started having internet issues is when I found out. I had to unplug it for it to return to normal. I took a picture of the white fuzzy screen to send to T-Mobile of this issue with mine. I haven't called T-Mobile yet about this defect in my 3rd replacement. But since the Sagemcon is still new I wonder if it's going to have issues like I've experienced with the Arcadyan. I know users of charter internet have given Sagemcon bad reviews on reddit.
Could you make a video of turning the radios off on this modem too plz.
Hi! If I have the opportunity to get one of those 3 what is the best?
Very helpful video. Thanks for sharing my dearest friend. Questions, do you get to keep the box if you cancel the plan or return to T-Mobile after a certain amount of time with T-Mobile?
Yes, you can keep the gateway if you prefer to pay the $370 non-return fee.
I’m new to your channel and love what I’ve seen so far! I have the Nokia T-Mobile unit and would like to see if I can connect it to an external antenna for better reception. Is there a kit for this modification? When we go on the road with our RV I take the unit with us and would like to setup the same external antenna, thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Hi Fred. Yes, check out this video for how to install an antenna ruclips.net/video/eiO-xqFbVho/видео.html and this playlist for info on kits Waveform Cellular Antennas for T-Mobile and Verizon Home Internet: ruclips.net/p/PL8d9FovK2dNS1HuMabIm8hspYa7nlXpPP
I have this gateway now, thought it would be good and comparable speeds to my Verizon 5g gateway, but it doesn't even come close. Looking forward to seeing if your external antenna review reveals any new data. I can't recall but did putting a 4x4 antenna on the Verizon 5g gateway help your ping and latency?
Yes the typical trend I see is an outdoor antenna lowers ping for both tmobile and verizon.
Got one a week ago. 300 mbps download. Four bars all the time. My second floor is the same as the first floor.
Hi Mr. Tater, Thanks so much for your videos!!! I am anticipating my new T-mobile Sagemcom to arrive any day. Any chance you can comment about setting it with a Google Nest Mesh Wifi System. I currently have two Google mesh networks on my property, one for the Main House and one for the Work Shop. I'm seeking advice on how to best set up the new T-Mobile Gateway with these two network routers. I have a hard line Cat5e running from the Main House to the Workshop. I'm hoping to set up one network to serve the entire property. Any advice would be great! Thanks alot!!!
you cant really change many settings on the gateways so its basically plug in your mesh system.
After reading these comments, looks like a no go for me. Will stay with my always reliable, no hassle 30 Mbps wired connection.
I just got it front some one but they didn't have the power supply.... can you tell me the model number of your power supply of that device .... thanks and cool video
I live in a north facing condo. In deciding between T Mobile 5 G, Verizon 5 G, or keeping my ATT wired 30Mbps, I searched for the location of the towers. Which are closest for me, and which give my north facing condo the best shot. Can’t find any information.
Thanks for the review. Out of curiosity, does this one allow you to set the IP address on it? The reason I ask is that I currently use two Netgear modems (MR5100 & MR1100) and I have each set to a different IP; one is 5.1 and the other 10.1 as I have a TP-Link ER605 Router that takes care of DHCP for the house devices where I basically "load balance" data in my own way so it splits the use between two lines. One line is my sons PS5 and PC for gaming and the other line is for the rest of the house. Just curious if you can change the default IP address which I figure is 1.1 or something. Thanks!
No. Its 192.168.12.1
Yes, we were informed as well, that the Sagemcom is No longer available (production)…
I want to by one for my RV. Do the range extender antennas actually help?
Yes
Thanks for the great info, how do I set up my camera system to view over my phone app and how to I set up my WD cloud to also access remotely, any chance you can do some videos on how to set these up. Thank you
You learning about the drawbacks of T-mobile's CGNAT and its associated no public IPv4 address and blocking all incoming traffic. VPN with port forwarding or reverse proxy are about the only way around your issues.
I am tired of TMobile home internet. At the beginning was great. Now sometimes just no connection. Speeds under 10 MB/s. I have to reboot 3 or more times. However the modem always has 5g and 4 bars. But your videos are amazing
Sorry you're having troubles with it! Thanks for tuning in.
Me too... I think it's the internal router that's the problem, not the actual internet connection.
Thanks for your tutorials, and your knowledge, you've been a tremendous help! I have the Nokia 5g21 model. I followed your tutorial on connecting inner antennas. I also watched your video of the different versions of antennas and the video showing which antennas are better. I actually went with two Eifagur 2x2mimo antennas from amazon because they were cheap. What I notice from one of your other videos is that I'm currently connected to the "B2" and "N71" bands. My question is, does the fact that my antenna is rated at 698-2700mhz, effect me getting the "N41" reception considering its the cheaper antenna rated at 698-2700mhz compared to the more expensive waveform 4x4mimo antenna that you suggested which is rated at 600-6000mhz?
n71 is a 600MHz band and n41 is 2500Mhz so technically your cheaper antennas wouldnt pick up n71 as well. But the way an antenna works is not an on/off switch at certain frequencies nor is it consistent gain across all stated freq so although n41 is within the stated freq for your antenna it may not get a good signal there.
@@NaterTater I'm in the midst, of adjusting the antennas to a higher position on my roof but I'm waiting for supplies from amazon. I do think that where the antennas are located might be the reason I'm receiving three bars on the "N71" and "B2" but I'm hoping that I can receive the "N41" reception since my antenna is 2700MHz once I move it to the roof......thinking about what you're saying, maybe the fact that my antenna is rated at 698-2700mhz but still receive the "N71" at 600mhz then maybe that could be causing signal loss/degrading. Honestly won't be able to fully test though, until I for sure get them on the roof to eliminate the possibility of the tree line being an issue.
Thanks for your response, you've been a great help because I sure as hell wouldn't have taken this apart without warranty or something
Hi, I appreciate the effort. I have two Arcadian units in two buildings. I'm getting some great speeds from one unit without an antenna => 200 mbps and even up to 250 and 15-20 up. Other unit gets much less speed. I find that these units as you said are extremely extremely sensitive to location. I have a third building that I cant even get 10mbps no matter where I place it. I also find that the speeds go up and down like a roller coaster. I can get 250mbps at night and next morning I can get 30mbps -- and I have not touched my gateway. I'm guessing its based on community usage of the tower? Last, I still get dropped packets ever few days and I have to reboot my gateway while my new Asus 6e router says that I drop no packets when I do a test. anyway, please advise if your new unit over the next 5-10-30 days what your see on multiple speed tests daily.
Will do
I also have the KD21 and my speed can go from 15 to 150 Mbps (download) within minutes, upload is not so good, from 3 to 15 Mps. Waiting for your test results on the new Sagemcom Fast 5688W.
Hello Nate, can you use a cat6 wired Wi-Fi extender on the 5688w. I get great 5g speeds if the gateway is outside my window as I have a straight shot to a 5g tower about 1mile away , but with a metal roof, impact glass and foil insulation, my inside signal is poor. I wanted to connect the gateway to my homerun outside cat6 to a wifi extender inside. Do you think this would work?
Yes but sounds like you want to put the gateway outside. It'll need protection from the weather.
Really curious to see the Chester with an external antenna. I went from ~20mbps with the stock Arcadayn to 250mbps with the antenna. Not sure a new gateway will help as much or enough to justify the cost.
that will be coming soon
How do you get the new one ? How far are you from the tower ? I have the silver one and it's juck lol. They need to include a outside antenna that would then hook up to the unit for better signal overall. They don't offer any cell booster ether like ATAT. They offer two different ones and they a great but unfortunately they are only supported by 4G LTE. The new 5G cam out and no one offers them. Sprint had one called Sprint's magic box I think they were also called small cells but again ever since 5G came out it's like you can't get these anymore which kind of sucks because I actually thought they actually worked pretty good I mean basically go from three bars to five bars inside
I opened a new line. 1 mile from tower. As for your outside antenna and other questions see my playlist on these topics T-Mobile Home Internet 5G 4G LTE Wireless: ruclips.net/p/PL8d9FovK2dNQHp0KWk8gG8XXvaKzaoSB3
It all depends on your location. Some locations are good for one company and better for another.
Does it have a rj11 jack? I Hope t-mobile does something about the double NAT situation.
No, and not likely.
Do you know if I can run POE security cameras (I'm considering Reolink cams) with a POE switch off of the Sagemcom gateway? (I presume that's all I would need, but have never done this before.) Many thanks for all your great videos. They're a great help.
You can and they'll save to a local NVR or NAS just fine. However know that outside access (away from home) to them may be complicated with TMHI.
@@NaterTater Thanks, Nate! The cams are planned to all be attached to the 2000 sq ft single story house, so it sounds like all should be fine.
I need some guidance, I just received the same Gateway that your showing in this video and I want to pair it up with my Asus RTAX82U do you think you can help me with this? Thank you 🙏🏽
ruclips.net/video/NsiLFP9_HtY/видео.html
My Gateway looks like the 5688W without the vent holes on the top but has no power switch. The thing on the box it came in has a sticker on it that says P/N FMNT055AX000J and ARC KVD21 GATEWAY BLK KIT so what exactly is the Model Number?
Via logging into the Gate Way by the IP Address The Gateway info is very limited, not way to see the signal strength of the Cellular Signals , all I can see is the basic signal strength from poor to excellent. I think with the Cell Phone App I can see similar info than what you showed in this video.
Is it possible to put two antenna arrays pointed at two different towers ? I live between two towers where i live. It would be nice to have best of both worlds
Yes but it would need to be a very specific arrangement for you to actually get benefit vs just pointing at a single tower.
Hello so is the Sagemcom S1 or the S2 as there is now a second one now from T-Mobile
It was S1. Based on their number for other gateways though S2 might just be a small hardware revision of the Sagemcom.
Excellent review 🏌️
Thanks!
I’m having trouble connecting a Brother L6800 printer to the 2.4ghz to Wi-Fi. The printer shows it is connected but does not work correctly. I’ve seen that others have problems connecting 2.4ghz devices as well. Do you have any suggestions?? Thank you for your informative videos!!
Split the 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi to unique names ruclips.net/video/7NJ7TJ_1VZk/видео.html
Hi Nate, what does "band steering" in HINT control app do?
Band steering is the term for when the router and the connecting device "negotiate" which wifi band (2.4ghz or 5ghz) to connect to. I find it often doesnt work as well as advertised and thus I turn it off and have unique names for my 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi.
@@NaterTater cool. Thx.
Just asking a question do I need a router with the T-Mobile hotspot Internet or not I watch the video earlier and they said that it drops the speed if you don't have a router and actual router an external router that means connected to it just curious to know what's going on in 2023 you need anything like that or not thank you God bless
You dont. Many dont need it but it is possible to add and does help in some situations.
Thanks for these videos. I got my Arcadyan last month and last week the the internet started consistently cutting out for several minutes once an hour or so. Any advice on how to get T-Mobile to swap me for a Sagemcom?
Call them or DM them on Twitter. Calling is normally faster, but both work. If you complain enough, they will eventually have you try a replacement. (They will require you to troubleshoot first though)
@@NoahZimmerman its difficult to request a specific gateway. Note the code names they use and have in their system is A2 is Arcadyan, N2 is Nokia, S1 is this Sagemcom.
When I signed up they sent me the Sage but there was no information online on how to hook up an external antenna. I’m probably 5-10 miles from my tower surrounded by trees…I had to open my window and put the modem in the window to get a signal so I went to my local T-Mobile store and asked them to swap me out an Arc…so they added another home internet line to my account and told me to call and cancel the account that the Sage was on…with the Waveform 4x4 mimo and the Arc I’m getting 300-100 dl depending on time of day with no connection issues
@@NaterTater Thanks!
I’ve had mine hooked up with Ethernet cable to netgear router it never cuts out or disconnects every once a while I restart it but so far it’s been pretty good play warzone every night only issue is since they don’t have port forwarding sometimes I have issues joining friends
Nate, thanks for all your videos on T-Mobile internet. I have had the KVD21 for 8 months with no issues until the last two weeks. Right now I am stuck on 4g with 5 bars and no 5g available. Get the usual working on the tower speech but I believe they are throttling down my speed. Is there anything I can do to fix this ? They have offered me an upgrade to the Sagemcom 5688w should I take it and would it make any difference in speed. Do you think there could be something wrong with the modem which is causing me to only get a 4g signal or do you think they are just throttling my speeds. I currently stream everything and run about 26 devices on this modem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Note: they pretty much told me I cannot get the newest modem the G4AR or the G4SE.
I'm told they are only shipping the G4AR currently...could be wrong. But the Sagemcom always tended to be faster than the KVD21 so yes I would take the swap!
As far as speeds go without the antennae is the G4AR faster than the Sagemcom? And is it possible for the modem to malfunction and not get a 5g signal? The tower is only a few hundred yards from my house.
Is the 5688 w/ T-Mobile geo-fenced? or can you plug it in outside the billing/service address if you are constantly on the move?
Yes and yes. Its geofenced per ToS and works anywhere with t-mobile service.
Hi Nate, Is it even POSSIBLE to setup the F5688W via ethernet cable instead of the app?
ruclips.net/video/Qy-f8xfPk4s/видео.html There is no setup, plug in and it works. They want you to use the app for the minimal settings change. However the video I linked above has a computer app that can be done over ethernet
Can you use the same PS commands (for KD21) to disable Wi-Fi on Sagemcom Fast 5688W?
No. ruclips.net/video/7NJ7TJ_1VZk/видео.html
Hey Nater, is this something I can take in my rv on the road also.
yes
How can i get my round Nokia to run the RJ 11 phone jack? A firmware version?
Can't. TMHI plans are data only. No text or voice.
Cool! Thanks
You bet!
I'm relatively new to these kinds of things, but I was wondering how to avoid DOUBLE NAT because I have people that play video games in my house. I use the TP-LINK ax3000 as a secondary router. I deal with latency spikes and I was wondering how I could fix this
You can't avoid double NAT with T-mobile's CGNAT. If you have NAT on your TP-Link then you're actually triple NAT. People still game with it but yes it has its drawbacks.
Just got the Sagemcom GateWay through T-Mobile. Speeds are great, but it reboots a lot and is basically useless. I can't figure out what is wrong it.
i got this one a few weeks ago
Thanks!
You're welcome! Thank you!
LOL I assumed that I had a Arcadyan. I really have a Sagemcom and Waveform ready to follow along with antenna installation in the near future.😁 I've got a 5g tower 1/4 mile away with just a few trees in between. Currently I'm getting 500/15Mps through the ground floor window and I'm hoping a roof top antenna will boost the upload speed a lot and the download speed just a bit.
Sounds reasonable
just got the 5688W what do i set the network setting 5G Auto? going to connect to nethawk MR60 please help Mr tader
Depends what you are trying to do. If you want the mr60 to do all the wifi then i would say turn off the 5688w wifi this way: ruclips.net/video/Qy-f8xfPk4s/видео.html

Happy with this model. Is there a hack to keep the display on all the time?
Not that I am aware of
Does this model have a fan and if not will the fan from the older model work with this model?
I don't believe it has a fan and no a 3d printed shape from the other models will not fit without modification/tape.
i started 5g internet a month ago, first 3 weeks was fine, then it will disconnect every 5 minutes. I spent about 2 hours with tech support but could not resolve issues. finally tmobile agreed to send me new gateway. they did not put my apartment number in shipping addresst so it took a longer time to deliver.
They said they will put new sim card in gateway but they did not. It took 2 levels tech support to fiqure out that. I hope the problem I had will not happen again and not on other customers. Tmobile staff need to be better trained and need to love their jobs better.
Nater, I recently received the sagemcom to replace a faulty Nokia that was in my opinion doing a soft restart. (Run time counter in GUI wouldn't reset when the modem would drop internet and show T symbol with dots as if rebooting)
The sage is garbage. Terrible ping and only 6mbps from ethernet but get over 100 from wireless.
They are swapping for another Nokia. Any ideas about the restart issue for the Nokia I'm describing? Doesn't seem to be heat related. They recently pushed a new firmware and I believe that to be the issue
I get over 600mbps over ethernet with my Sagemcom. It's an absolutely fantastic device. Been rock solid for me.
@@kobeandgary do you notice a faster speed if via wifi?
i had the Nokia for almost a year now. at first i was a bit disappointed because I was able to feel the Lag when gaming. also my speeds would be really low. even tho I live in the City and theres literally a Tower down the street. but after the 1st month or so, it has been great. really didnt have any issues with it. been using it thru Wifi the whole year. I feel like ive gotten my moneys worth. today I switched up to this New one. I was told that it should improve on the speed compared to the Nokia. but I really havent notice any improvements. if anything, i noticed that its somewhat worst. ive only had it for 2 days, but im starting to to regret it. i will give it some more time just to see if anything changes. but its not looking good so far. which is a shame because I really was enjoying the Nokia and told by T-Mobile employees that this was a step up.
Are they working on port forwarding for gaming anytime soon ?
No
Great content and can't wait for your "Grand Opening" and take a look on the inside.
😄 👍
By chance do you have any recommended antenna for someone surrounded by so so many homes? I live in a townhome complex and recently got the
2x2 MIMO 4G/5G Log Periodic Antenna Kit and have it pointed to the nearest tower(6 miles away from my balcony). The results were terrible, some of test my scores were lower with the antenna during continues swapping of M, M1, M2, and D. I have the Arcadyan KVD21 and get 250-304 down 17-25 up without an external antenna.
Those are good speeds! I'd be happy with that stock.
@@NaterTater I'm aiming for higher speeds for the rest of my home, all four of us are heavy gamers and I would like to also be able to stream again. So would there be any recommendations for the scenario I explained above by chance..?
@@alwaystonix9549 I dont know what games you play but most are in the 5-10Mbps range so you have plenty of speed to handle 4 gamers and streaming four 4K videos at the same time. Cellular is not know for its low latency though so you're likely experiencing lag. An outdoor antenna could help with that. You could try ro step it up to a 4x4 MIMO. If you have lots of buildings or trees blocking the view go with a panel antenna not the LPDA ones.
@@NaterTater 🙂Thank you for your reply.
@AlwaysTonix lol Bro my son is a heavy gamer.. I have 2 Arcadian lines and 1 is just for him to ethernet to his pc. We struggle to keep 30mbps haha. I would not throw any more money into your scenario!! You got the plug in play package already!!
I’ve tried it twice over the last 6 months and while I can get ok speeds (~125-145mbps), I still can’t get fast enough for the wife and I both to work from home (we both routinely do video calls). I’m seriously considering getting 2 of these and allow them to be dedicated to each of our Work PCs.
125Mbps is fast enough for dozen people to receive HD video calls. What is your upload speed? You're likely running into bufferbloat or latency issues which can be somewhat improved with your own router behind the gateway.
@@NaterTater thanks for the reply! from what I can remember it was 25-30….. maybe it’s time to upgrade from my Apple airports then…. I run 4 of them as a “mesh” network in my house to get the coverage I need…. And still have some slow/dead spots…. Old house with thick plaster walls . I also have several IOT devices (Ring devices, LG appliances, multiple iPhones, iPad, Macs, and HomePods. I have the Ring separated on their own dedicated network.)
Have you tested the ethernet speed on the 2nd version modem compared to the wireless speed?
Its the same assuming you are close enough on wifi to support your WAN speed.
@@NaterTater thank you, your videos are always very detailed helped me understand my modem better.
Can anybody tell me if using a cell booster near the unit will help the incoming reception on these types of gateways, or do I have to do the mimo antenna hack to get better signal?

Nate, HELP. I'm so TORN. Should I keep my TMHI with speeds of 200 mbps down/42 mbps up or keep Verizon with speeds of 312 mbps/19 mbps up. I don't need both as it is just a backup to my Cox Gigablast Internet ($90 per month). Honestly, I'm finding that the Gigablast is overkill but I need to finish another year contract up first. I'm leaning towards keeping the Verizon over TMHI due to the more consistent speeds and the modem configuration options. With all the experience you have between the two services, what would you do? The only drawback with Verizon is only having a 2 year price lock! Thanks.
That is tough! Knowing the TMHI is price locked forever is big bonus. Buy the verizon's settings and consistency are valuable too. I guess as a backup the settings dont matter as much so maybe save the money with TMHI?
@@NaterTater Thanks for the reply, Nate! I was afraid you'd say that, LOL! I was really digging the white Cube. Ultimately, I am extremely surprised/impressed overall with the 5G Home Internet services in general. They are both amazing! If I didn't have a year remaining on my Cox contract, I literally would probably just cancel the Gigablast service and keep TMHI for the main house and Verizon for the Guest House/Office. Global Protect VPN is working great over them, Citrix VDI, etc. I have yet to integrate/test all my IP cameras yet though! Come on Verizon, why couldn't you just offered a price lock! FYI, I almost cancelled TMHI last month because when I updated my cell plan to Magenta Max 55+, they took away my Unlimited plan and put me on a Lite plan. Unlimited came back by itself 2 weeks later. Keep up the great content, Nate!
Try out Middle of Nowhere internet company for us please!!
Remember to play with rotation…. Where I live oilut in the sticks I have to actually point the right rear (LTE) antenna in the direction of the tower to get better performance
bro this is NATER TATER .... he got this
@@ryanmccue4433 ‘finally’ getting ready to buy one (antenna only then will buy the 12” pigtails and cables separately)
Can I use my existing email which is mediacom with T-Mobile? I also use Outlook to get my email. Thank you
Yes
We still have the Nokia 5G gateway and its been working great for us and it doesnt over heat cuz its next to a AC vent
What will you do in the winter when the vent is outputting heat?
@@MichaelHutton1 move it away from the vent?
@@ChrisTechnician you’re probably going to want one of the available fans for it. I found that mine tended to lock up occasionally without the fan.
@@MichaelHutton1 ours hasnt had that problem and it got a new software update last night
@@ChrisTechnician good deal 🙂. I just wish that ours had better access to a tower or T-Mobile would upgrade the tower because we’re only getting about 30 down and 6 up.
Did you find a way to get into the web admin to turn off wifi?
Yes, this works ruclips.net/video/Qy-f8xfPk4s/видео.html
Wut? Geez. I can't keep up. I just want reliable internet that I don't have to babysit.
I had the Nokia for a few months and decided to return it, great speed and all, but it kept disconnecting from the internet everyday and with my cameras it was not good at all, I had to reboot it every afternoon, went to Verizon and bought their device and is been great so far. I have to reboot it every month because my 10 years old windows 10 pc sometimes can't connect to it, but with my other newer devices works great.
🤣🤣
Ask your momma, dummy.
Just get fiber
My smartphone will connect to the Sagemcom Fast 5688W gateway Wi-Fi 6e up to 2.3 Gb/s Wi-Fi but only if you're in same room but the 5G internet is now reaching speeds of up to 800/100 at night and upto 700/50 during the day.
This morning I could not access web. TMob PC interface showed check marks on internet etc. Primary and Secondary both lit up with bars. I never get Secondary on my Nokia, but there it was, but yet no internet. I noticed internet came back while I had a call into support, but checked and the Secondary is gone again. I can see the tower out by back window too about a mile+ away.
Sounds like switching towers. Change placement of the gateway or look into external antennas.T-Mobile Home Internet 5G 4G LTE Wireless: ruclips.net/p/PL8d9FovK2dNQHp0KWk8gG8XXvaKzaoSB3
@@NaterTater I've had the system over a year and thankfully it's only gone down 2-3 times. I just checked and the tower is 3000 feet away. You'd think placement would not be that much of an issue. I complained one day and a support person had me on hold for 10 min doing something with my account. I checked and the Secondary showed up!. I ran a test and hit over 200MBps. I said great. Next thing I know, no secondary and back to sub 100 again.
@@thomasbcool placement is EXTREMELY important. Even rotation of the gateway in the same spot can have drastic changes to speed.
@@NaterTater Secondary is back this morning. Not so sure they didn't upgrade the tower. 5G SNR is 20, RSRP -79 RSRQ -11. Speed has hit over 90, which is fine. Uploads have exceeded 50. FYI I bought a greenworks 16" months ago, haven't used it yet.
@@NaterTater Secondary gone again this morning. It appears the difference of having the secondary was to cut the ping time a lot, and the uploads were amazing. Now back to just primary with about the same download speed, higher ping, and low upload speed ie 5MB.
Can I use my existing t-mobile sim card (voice line + data) for this??
Maybe? But why?
Why is a higher value of SINR better? When I tap on the SINR it says my rating of 3 is poor and that a value of 20 or higher is ideal. Doesn't a value of 20 SINR mean it has a higher amount of signal noise?
Quite a few of the advanced metrics values list as being Poor but I constantly get near 200 or higher Mbps on speed tests. The RSRP shows as Poor but the Cellular Signal Strength on the Gateways display says Good with 3 bars and on LTE it shows RSSI as poor too so way does the Gateway display say the sginal strenght is good but the RSSO and RSRP show as poor?
SINR is a measure of how strong the singal of interest is compared to the background or other signals is (aka noise). Higher value means the signal is that much stronger than the noise. Overall performance is determined by many factors and different metrics can have good or bad ratings at the same time.
I'm getting 0 bars when I turn it on and an error code WAN002. Should I take it back for a new one?
Sounds like it
My KD21 is going downhill lately and T-Mobile refused to let me try a Sagemcom. They sent me another KD21 and it's even worse than what I have. The Speed Test is under 20/3 Mbps. Any trick to get them to send me a Sagemcom?
its know as "S1" to the support reps (vs A2 and N2)
Does existing customers that already have TMobile home internet get the new modems
You can call and ask
Thank you I will certainly do that
Don’t hold your breath for that added C Band….
T-Mobile also has C-band, but it isn’t cleared to make its C-band 5G networks live until December 2023, as per government regulations.
