    I really liked your demonstration. The color contrast was hard for to see details. Thanks for your demo!

      No problem! I'm going to try redoing it some day with colors that have more contrast but this was all I had at the moment. Was a sword someone sent to me to wrap so I figured I'd just record it. I have another sword I'm going to be wrapping soon with what will have more contrast. I'll try redoing this video when I do that wrap.
      Thanks for watching!

    I made roughly 70 too many paper wads....they came in handy for end knots. lol

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  28 дней назад +1

      Nice!!! Lol ya sometimes I use old hishigami for the paper wads. Other times I just use scraps of rice paper that aren't big enough to make hishigami with. Luckily the paper used for the wads isn't too critical.

      @@StudentOfWarCustoms I have my own name them that I won't repeat. Hehe. I followed cottontail customs tutorials on how to make them, but they just make my ito slide on the samegawa so I gave up on them. They look nice but I couldn't get them tight enough.

    So dark you can't see a thing

    what you do after 6:30 is not clear do to the camera angle, lighting and dark color of the tsuka-ito.

    This was useful and informative; I liked the technique. But it would have been improved if he seemed more aware of where the camera was pointing! Often the action was happening in one small corner at the bottom of the screen, and sometimes it went off the bottom of the screen altogether.
    Thanks for the knowledge, but please check where your camera is aimed next time. It'll make your videos much easier to follow.

    My ito securing my kaskira is loose ? Do I have to redo my tsuka-maki?

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  Год назад

      Depends on how tight the rest of your wrap is. If the whole wrap is loose you're better off having the whole thing redone, if it's tight but just the end knots came undone than it can be retyed. I can retie your end knots for $20 plus shipping if you're interested.

    I have a question what length of ito would i need for an 11" tsuka

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  7 лет назад +1

      +Logan Cole 14 feet. Whenever determining how much ito you'll need take the length of your Tsuka, add 3 and that's how many feet you'll need.

      thanks adam i am doing a sword mod i took a katana and ground away the yokote so i guess it is a shobu zukuri now but i want to get some ito like the ito you used on the sword in the video do you remember where you got it

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  7 лет назад +1

      +Logan Cole no problem. Cool I love Shobu zukuri blades, if it has an o-kissaki then it is a Shobu zukuri. Yes it's brown silk ito from swordnarmory. Most of my ito comes from swordnarmory because the pricing is so good.

    Idk how but mine was pulled out of place.

    • @StudentOfWarCustoms
      @StudentOfWarCustoms  2 года назад

      That's unfortunately very common. On many swords the makers don't know how to tie end knots, don't tie them tight and don't glue them. I've had that happen to quite a few swords.

    Your hands are in the way and it would be helpful if you it was more clear where the ito strands should be after each step.
