Thank you so much for this guide and all the others wow they are great and so well edited! Thanks again for the tips, Ill be playing the Cabal for the first time this Saturday :)) super excited tho I am a bit confused as to how aggressive I should be
You're welcome! Let me know how the game went :) Try to become close friends with one neighbour and then eat the other. Maybe bribe or sweet talk the table a little bit, if you think they all are turning against you. Good luck! :)
A minor rules clarification regarding movement: while VRC units do not roll for the gravity rift associated with heir Dimensional Tears, they do roll if they enter/exit a standard gravity rift; and if they build a DT within a gravity rift (i.e. Cormund) then no roll is required (LRR 41.4 systems with two gravity rifts are treated as having one, and it is assumed that the VRC will use the effect favorable to their movement). I noticed this was are upload so I hope you mind I just added my brief comment from yesterday. Thanks for sharing another great strategy video! 🖖
Yes, thanks for reposting your comment. It is a shame losing the good comments from the first video, but I had to re-upload due me incorrectly correcting a statement about capturing ground forces during the bombardment step with the flagship :)
Great video. The beauty of picking leadership is that you have the tokens that if you get stalled out of the Warfare secondary you can spend a token to activate a random system and pass. Yes it's a waste of a token but it can be worth it to get a great R1. Also, if you put a dock in an equidistant system your neighbour can make it to their benefit. If they can get the Cabal on side with a support swap they can do a deal where they leave a ship next to the dock that the Cabal want and effectively feed the cabal to go the other way. As long as the Cabal is using the ships they take to always build you will get them back and be helping to make problems for other players. 😉
Aaaaaah I love this take on Cabal. I totally agree. Of course its tricksy, but Cabal should be able to get ahead in plastic in the beginning and thereby shouldn't feel threatened in the first rounds. So make the support-swap, capture a dreadnought/carrier and build right away, nobody gets harmed.... (besides Cabals other neighbours). Win-win 👌🤘
15:47 Normal player: "I won't tolerate you building a dimensional tear that near my home systems!" Cabal player: *_"I sheeezzzaaall EEEEEAAAAAT YOOOOOOOOUUUUU"_* Normal player: "Understandable. Have a nice day" All jokes aside, I think putting down a dimensional tear that close to another player's slice is perfectly fine, _if_ you are ready to pick a fight with that player. That dimensional tear is basically announcing with giant loudspeakers that you intend to attack your neighbor, or at least that is the way your neighbor absolutely needs to interpret it. As a result, that player will be throwing everything and the kitchen sink at that tear to shut it down, which you may be perfectly fine with or even counting on. You are the Cabal after all; you _want_ to fight, in order to eat your neighbor's stuff. And if they, for whatever reason, _don't_ try to shut the tear down, you've now got an open highway into your neighbor's home system.
Won yesterday with very friendly and diplomatic Cabal play :D :D Argent almost got me but I had Leadership in last round. So I am ready for Nomad guide!
Congratulations! That is awesome. I'm currently working on both Nomad and another video for Friday. I expect Nomad to release on the 23rd of february :)
@@essersgamingcave sounds good! 24.02. I will play basegame without Nomad. So until my next game with Nomad in march, I will know your Nomad tricks. I allready know that they want to pick trade R1.
Playing VRC this weekend! Great advice here. I think I'll try going biostims and hopefully I can snag leadership or construction! Not sure I totally agree about sling relay, but maybe I'll give that a try too. Assauly cannon is perfect for them, love the tip
@@essersgamingcave it went really well! I just barely lost and got second place. Basically I wasn't aggressive enough and missed out on an opportunity to score imperial early. I was sitting next to a newbie and felt bad about crushing him, and on the other side I had Mentak with a very strong player and decided to make a truce after placing a dimensional tear in our equidistant (which had two important influence planets). My tech tree looked strange because people kept using special abilities to grab technology. I had two red skips and a yellow skip, and R4 I got the secret objective to gain both faction techs so I ended up grabbing those, assault cannon, and the one to enter asteroid systems in order to score an early public objective. I had a ton of captured plastic, more than I even knew what to do with, especially after an epic pop of the hero at the start of R5. All in all I felt very powerful and I think if I just punched a bit harder I could have won. The winner deserved the win though, he played NRA very well.
When you build in your home system @8:40, you produce 1 mech, 1 carrier, 2 infantry, 1 cruiser, and 1 destroyer. However the production value of the dimensional tear is only 5, and you have not yet unlocked your commander's ability. While the mech and the carrier are free resource-wise, do they not still count against the production value of the space dock?
Thanks for asking. The mech is produced by using the Self Assembly Routines technology and does not count against the production limit. But the carrier does :)
He’s right in that there are so many options. I just drafted a good slice with a 6 influence slice next to me, so I’ll probably get passed Diplomacy so I can make the starting cruiser lvl 2 and take Rex round 1. My 1 question is if it is that important to get the space dock upgrade on this faction.
@@essersgamingcave Dont you always want to build all of your spacedocks, both to help unlook the commander and for all the movementbonus? And Cabal shouldnt care about the underlying planet, since their productionvalue i fixed. In my opinion its only in rare cases I would go for Spacedock II
I was thinking of an awesome game idea. How about a 6 player game where everyone plays the bad guy factions or war centric factions. Was thinking l1,neckro,mahact, cabal, barony and one more war crazed faction. These factions are usually public enemy number 1 in their separate games but about when they are together.
I like it! Would be interesting to see what actually happens. Does everyone build huge fleets but avoid attacking, or will everybody continually make small attacks? Maybe the objectives needs to be packed so that the control objectives comes out :D
Merry xmas to everybody here :) enjoy the TI4- christmas-truce, your family- sessions and of course the Bud Spencer and Bruce Willis movies on the TV :)
As long as the system where the pick up takes place is not activated, then you are allowed to do that. But you are not allowed to land units along the way as movement has to end in the active system
Yes of course! I showed in the video that a unit was captured during bombardment, but said in a text below that you could not capture units during bombardment. But with the flagship all units destroyed in the active system is captured, no matter how they are destroyed. So I have just removed the text stating what I show is wrong :)
@@essersgamingcave first round went great, drew some not so good 2nd and third public objectives, but got a great secret objective! (Have 3 space docks) so I’m hoping it goes well!
Tomorrow I play Titans, another will play Cabal. I hope he will not be adjacent to me, but if will be, I will prepare to hit him hard sometime R4 😂 But anyway I will be more afraid of Muaat with his stupid hero😅 Then Jol-Nar, Saar and Hacan will be in play.
@@essersgamingcave Cabal was overconfident and attacked Jol-Nar home system and lost his fleet early :D Saar was raging across the map but I had Supports swapped with him. Muaat destroyed Saar superfleet with his hero. I did not have any epic battles myself, except my 5 PDS salvo against poor lonely Hacan carrier, to get my secret.

You can pick up other units (ie infantry/mech/fighter) during movement? In the example the carrier moved picked up units then continued moving.
As long as the system where the pick up takes place is not activated, then you are allowed to do that. But you are not allowed to land units along the way as movement has to end in the active system
@@essersgamingcave Wow, good to know and thanks for the reply on the older video.
When producing with Cabal and using captured ships they too will need to be counted towards your plastic amount?
Yes they count towards your production capacity. You just don't have to spend the resources to produce those units
May i ask what changed with respect to the first version released yesterday?
Yes of course! I showed in the video that a unit was captured during bombardment, but said in a text below that you could not capture units during bombardment.
