I've never taken ANY dance lesson in my life, but these videos make me love pointe shoes (not for wearing because I'd like to keep my ankles, but I found out that too large ballet slippers with thick socks are soo comfy at home). Love from Germany

Tried to impress a Ballet friend in college by standing on point in steel toed combat boots. Managed it despite being an overweight man who has never taken dance class.
She then started sketching out plans to modify the boots into toe shoes. She ended up kit bashing an old pair of toe shoes to look like boots and wore them to a mosh pit.
Don't mosh will Ballerinas, they can end you and all that you love.

Josephine fitting everyone’s feet in her head is me (a ballet teacher) internally correcting everyone’s posture the moment I meet them. I even do it when I’m watching movies 😅
Saaame! When the guys have shirtless scene, I'm just internally screaming at their posture😂😂. Sometimes i can't help myself and have to point out how bad their posture is to who ever im sitting next. They usually just stare at me confused lol

Josephine says she'd be chill at a dance competition, but we all know she'd be helping fix fit issues on all the competitors pointe shoes. (Her own kids would already have 3 pairs of perfect shoes ready to go)
She would so be the dance mom that has a million of every type of pin, bandaid, and rhinestone. She would be fixing everyone’s makeup.
Thank you for including a ballet dancer who looks like me 🥰 It’s been a bit difficult to find more representation of plus size dancers but I started ballet again as an adult when I went to go for my PhD (because where else am I going to pay £40 for a year of ballet (well 9 months)), and in the UK it’s been so hard to find dance gear for larger people. But seeing that dancer in the video has made me incredibly happy 💖
Now my dreams of restarting ballet as an overweight 52 year old seem doable.

I can totally imagine forgetting that I was wearing leg warmers. I've had nightmares in which I was wearing fuzzy house slippers instead of dance shoes.
I can totally relate to the dancer who went onstage with her leg warmers on! I was in a musical where the director decided everyone would wear white tennis shoes instead of jazz shoes. Because they felt the same as the tennis shoes I wore on the way to the theater, I forgot to take off my BLACK tennis shoes, and wore them for the whole first act! 😱🤦🏻♀️😳
Ok, so I know they say that point shoes give the illusion of floating, but the dancer at 2:45 for real just drifted effortlessly. It was like she was in zero gravity, so elegant.

The leg warmer thing is hilarious! I’m an equestrian and you aren’t allowed to have any leg protection in dressage tests but a lot of people warm up with boots on the horses legs. It is a recurring nightmare of dressage riders and the rule is that if you are a decent person you have to run after a person screaming if they try to enter the arena with boots on their horse 🤣
I'm 60 years old and haven't actually danced in many years, but I still sit with my feet like that! Always on my toes.

I love having my mom act like a “dance dad” At competitions. Both my parents are so chill (mostly cuz they don’t know what’s happening) and I feel like it takes so much pressure off of me. I do my makeup, hair, stretch, and everything and my parents help if I really need it

I now can't get the image out of my head of Josephine picking the wrong door at the doctor's, seeing someone with color changing paper taped to their soles and a nurse actively poking them in the foot with needles and tongue depressors and just thinking "they need some pointe shoes, stat."

That was the FIRST time I've ever seen a woman so large doing ballet on pointe!!! And she was BEAUTIFUL!!! So graceful! I hope she's an inspiration for every little "fat" girl who dreams of being a ballerina!! I am 71 and was the little "fat" girl who begged for ballet lessons, but was told "you're too big". Whoever you are, NEVER give up your dream!
30 years after I was last in pointe shoes and I still rate every pair of shoes as if they were pointe shoes, and roll up onto my toes every night while sleeping. It freaks out the other half when I'm running through dance sequences in my dreams. 😂

Those pink squishy slippers are great. Very comfy….as long as you’re wearing socks with them. Otherwise they will eventually rub the tops of your feet bc it’s textured.

Used to practice ballet when I was a kid and even danced in a theater once but ended up quitting because of a bad experience I had while my teacher tried to make me do a split (which ended up scaring me and make me quit) And this videos just make me want to go back but I fear I may not be able to streatch enough.
