    Just so you guys know, I hear you guys about us being more negative towards the game than usual, but I promise that we'll try to be a bit more neutral. WoW is the game we love and it's been a HUGE part of us in our lives.
    Hope you guys understand.

      I appreciate that Hotted, and I do believe you, however it's very easy to see what the general tenor of the show has been over the last month or so. Getting someone who's a bit less invested (a lot of you guys have had a really long and brutal history with wow) and with a more neutral look at things. Also, a little less petulant Blizzard bashing would be a nice change.

      I want you guys to express your true opinions about the game whether its negative, positive or somewhere in between. Dont be neutral for the sake of being neutral. The game is in a bad spot and you should say so. If we say the game is good when it isnt then nothing changes. Keep up the good work and dont let others influence your opinions.
      As far as blizzard goes, the criticism is not petulant - its well reasoned and it is certainly deserved. Blizzard is selling out and relying on their strong IP to make money and eschewing quality. The old blizzard would have NEVER released BfA in the state it was in and the fact that they would release such a horrid and incomplete expansion should tell you that activision is pressuring them to release unfinished content for shareholders. Nothing about what blizzard has become deserves praise.

    I played a lot in classic and TBC and didn't play at ALL until BFA and one of my observations is that classes in classic felt like swiss army knives. One spec might have a bigger knife, another a better screwdriver, and the third had a small serrated blade, but I always had the use of the entire SWK. Classes in BFA feel like you get a ladle, a meat cleaver, and a turkey baster. If Im specced to scoop, i cant cut or moisten anything because those tools are locked behind another spec. For example, in Classic I could play a enh shaman, but still kick ass as a healer in a BG where we had no dedicated healer because I still had access to most healing tools even though they were not optimized by being specced resto. Very different design philosophy.

    Rarely does anyone discuss the downgrading of crafting in WOW. I understand not being motivated to pursue raiding for certain items that another person will be getting thru RNG and lesser content. The same applies to crafting as well. I enjoyed having high level fishing and was motivated to gain access to high level fishing pools. Now anyone can fish high level content with no effort to earn it. I'm no longer motivated to earn money in the game the way I used to be. I always enjoyed exploring and often knew things about the world no one else did. Now everyone is forced to explore if they want to fly. Every level of this game has been downgraded. I wish more youtubers would notice that not just raiding and gear have been ruined.

  • @JC-ok4yx

    Last year when I played Monster Hunter World it was the first game that gave me the same feeling I had from WoW. I wanted to play more and progress my character. The deterministic factor that you can progress your character in a meaningful way matters. I'm a semi-casual player who only plays a couple hours a day during the week and on weekends. I don't raid mythic and at this point there's no progression I can make unless I get a titan or warforge piece.

    There is a fine line between Legion level content releases and WOD level content releases. In legion, there was complaints that the pace was too fast, where WOD was utter trash and had very few patches with even fewer chunks of meaningful content. I feel that taking a slower pace, but really delivering complex patches with actual depth is the proper way to go.
    Blizzard does this to themselves, they are their own worst enemy. They will certainly take your feedback; months after the content has been launched when it's too late to change the potential optics. They also CONSTANTLY re-iterate on the classes each and every expansion. When they do that, they all need rebalanced; they take away abilities, talents etc. only to give them right back to you an expansion later. They burden THEMSELVES with all of these changes, which of course takes away from development time of systems and other content. Seriously, when will they learn to find a real positive place for the classes/specs... then leave them be for a bit and focus more on meaningful content. I've said it too much over the years... you experience their content through your character. If your character plays/feels like shit, every piece of content will feel the same. But, they continue to constantly change them, which eats up a shitload of dev time in beta and post launch, that it certainly takes away from other content development.
    Sad part is, with just a few surveys, Q&A's and focused testing on the side... they really could get the classes/specs in a great spot that would make the most people content. Different talents for different play styles... then turn the knobs to make them extremely close to each other in output. Boom! Leave the damn things alone for a few expansions and focus on quality content to experience through those characters.

    MOPs problem was 14 months of timeless isle and SOO, exceeded the drought of WOTLK and CATA combined by a landslide. the reason we were given was to make the next expac even better, WOD ended up with a near 16 month drought of tanaan jungle and HFC, and the most cut expac in WOW history

    Blizzard have the biggest gameworld of any game in World of Warcraft, of wich they only use 1 % for current content... there are so much oppertunity to use old areas to make intresting content. There is no need to create new areas each expansion, it is perfectly fine to reuse old content and use areas players might feel familiar with. Just need to be a bit innovative with what they can do. Brainstorm it coz how the game is right now, is just atrocious.

    I went to the wow general forums the other day and I couldnt believe the level of disconnect between the playerbase of today versus those of us who want the game to go back to the way it was. These people actually think that the game is doing better now that they finally were able to push their agenda of dumbing everything down to make it soloable. And if you push back, they say "go play classic," yet when we tried to tell them back in TBC to play single player games if they didnt have the time to form groups and raids they told us we were just elitist assholes who only wanted to show off our gear that the casuals couldnt get.
    And let me just say this: I was never a hardcore raider back then and now I have a full-time job and an 8 month old child. I still dont want lfr and lfd and all of the other meaningless solo content that they have added. Please give me my MMO back and let these people who like solo content leave. There was always more of us then them anyways.

    • @JBrandonMercer123
      @JBrandonMercer123 5 лет назад +1

      Just raid mythic. It's not easy. It's not soloable. You can't queue for it. It takes time. You have to have a guild/friends/community to do it (outside of the first couple of bosses).It's got all of the things the "Make Azeroth Great Again" crowd wants, but for some reason they don't want to do it. My suspicion is that many of them are bad/mediocre players that couldn't handle it. And I played all the way back in Vanilla, too. I just don't whine about "how much better the game used to be." It wasn't better. It was just easier.

    • @jeffreydallaire4941
      @jeffreydallaire4941 5 лет назад

    The way catch-up item level and artifact knowledge work, you are literally encouraged to not play the game until the last patch. Whatever work you put in now to get item level upgrades or AP will be 5, 10, 30 times easier in 6 months time. People have been saying it for years and I have disagreed, but I think this time they finally have gone too far with catch-up mechanics. It's making the game feel pointless to play.
    Oh, and the game is still dogshit. So that's a motivational problem as well.

    • @xzBorn_
      @xzBorn_ 5 лет назад

      I feel like that has always been a problem, working towards your tier-set was always over-ridden with the next tier. Or am I off?

    • @Carbonific
      @Carbonific 5 лет назад

      @@xzBorn_ Kind of, but the power difference between tiers was less pronounced as the item level difference was lesser. You could previously find niche scenarios where older tier sets were superior because of different stats or set bonuses. Now that can't happen because secondary stats have a smaller impact compared to primary stats, the pool of stat types is smaller, and set bonuses don't exist. Having ways for good players to distinguish themselves by keeping gear sets from older raids in their bag to exploit created value in having progressed through that content, rewarding them with additional gameplay and increasing the skill cap.

    • @jeffreydallaire4941
      @jeffreydallaire4941 5 лет назад

      @@xzBorn_ there were a few catch up mechanics in vanilla (dire maul, tier 0.5 set, and then the end of BC we saw the first instance of "welfare epics." To me it should be kept at a minimum if done at all. As they mention at some point in the podcast, in TBC there were entire communities focused on the various tiers of progression because in order to be able to start tier 5 progression you had to have mostly tier 4 gear. This was definitely the best system IMO because not only did it incentivize players to do the earlier raids because they needed the gear from them to move up to the next tier, but it also incentivized blizzard to make meaningful gear progression throughout all the raids because there would always be a guild that was progressing through that tier of content even after the new tier came out. If you couldnt tell, im in full agreement with asmon that TBC had the best end game philosphy, and im someone who never set foot in black temple. There was always something to do and you couldnt just wait for the next patch and skip the tier of raiding you were on.

    On the topic of negative perceptions from content creators rippling out to players. It does have some merit to say it can change people's opinion of the game. But that is few and far between. I'd say it is more of people are feeling the same way and it make people more comfortable knowing they aren't the only one feeling that way.
    I can say that there is a lot of criticism pushed towards these game systems that are flawed, but people lack the understanding of constructive criticism vs destructive. If more content creators point out the flaws and present their opinions on how it could be mended would be more beneficial to making changes occur. If people only say what is wrong and now how to make it better, you have people just bitching about the problem. Blizz who may be watching it has to take more time to think of a way to fix it with no direction of where it should go based on the feedback.
    I'm sure many people have seen these types of thing flowing around the streaming and RUclips environment. Personally I think people with a large following could spark great ideas within their communities and convey a concept for them to work with. Give them a foothold and a direction. Let blizz take it the rest of the way. I think blizzard is lacking that idea factor and critique within their company at the moment so us as the community can hopefully try to help them. Fact is, world of warcraft is my game just as much as it is blizzards or anyone else's. I've invested time since December 2004 almost 100% continuous subscription. I think of myself as part owner, so like Allcraft, I want to see the game get better because of my investment. Why not try to offer directions on where to go and where to drop the systems and move on.
    I know there is people that will disagree with this. You do you. This is my opinion on the state of things in the topic I mentioned. Sometimes beloved game companies actually need our help.

  • @kirillbeckmann

    problem is only the gear funneling every patch to everyone, so good and bad player are always close to equal in terms of gear but the results each can archive with that gear are still so different so ppl will only see an inprovement by just "getting better" at the game. Back then u had the idea: if u manage to clear that content (for that u needed to improve ur gameplay constantly to archive it) u get the good gear which makes u on paar with the elite. Now its not the gear anymore u can blame, so what do ppl do if they reached almost 80% of there theoretical power by default? just getting better for the last bit of better gear? No point i guess for a casual player. So the insentive to play the game drops a lot, gear isnt a factor of a good game-experiance anymore but personal skill but if u arnt a senior wow player, u dont really need to improve since u get the gear anyway. On top every twitch streamer is usually a good player within good grps so even twitch showes the casual gamer a wow-experiance they prolly cant even dream of archiveing
    SO what has to be done is:
    Going away from gear resetts every patch
    Increase thedifficulty of content extreme so there isnt a powercreep between good and bad player which is so obviouse ( like m +10 stays same as now but a +15 would be like a plus 20 now or so)
    And ofc we need better ballancing

But probelm with the state of wow is. from the start of the game untill max level your basicly stuck on a path and dont go outside the guidelines and never soicalize at most you do a dungeon and if lucky the dungeon group speaks without being toxic. and then max level the said player is thrown into it M+, raiding, RBG, arenas where most groups want to talk. and this new player is like ermm this doseut feel right so basicly sits on LFR or doing old content wondering wat to do.

    I'm thinking of ending it all if classic wow isn't successful I've put 6 years of my life into learning lore and enjoying wow for them to go and just ruin the game in one expansion is amazing....

    When Blizzard changes wow from getting on with a chore list to, getting on to see what is going on. That will be the turning point, and will change MMOs.
    How to do that? Not sure, Global phasing of zones might be a idea, where everyone sees the same zone, but zones can change over time, new things to do world events happen through this system that we would never guessed.
    Crafting needs to have way more value.
    Also asmongold is wrong, giving content for everyone has helped Wow live this long, it has work and is working. It is just, wow is boring, and is playing it safe. That is it.

    28th like! Allcraft is the highlight of my Thursdays. Also if you have never played Black Desert Online then hit the link above and play it like a singleplayer game. Don't look at the in game shop or any of that equipment leveling nonsense. Just play the main story and I personally guarantee several hours of quality content. Great singleplayer gameplay; aweful MMO. I recommend Archer, Dark Knight, Warrior, Wizard, or Berzerker btw.

    Rich is out of his mind. Sure depending on the zone, the invasions feel weak in some areas. Others, however, are great imo.

      Especially on Emerald Dream. RP PvP servers make incursions some of the best content WoW has seen in a while. Warfronts need to be redesigned with those in mind.

    I'm just wondering why you guys think blizzard has a obligation to tell you how their game is going to work before it launches? Can't you leave it up to surprise? Entitled gamers

      Because latest "FUN" changes feels as if you come to your favorite park and find out that all benches are replaced with bar stools, all footpaths are now coverd with brocken glass and grass is painted blue. Surprise!!! Evident, we like surprises like recent secret mounts, but things like Pantheon trinkets are just stupid.

      Blizzard die this before they changes, they used to be in "close" good contact with their Players... gaming becoming Big is the start of the downfall
