Welcome to Moat Cottage Homesteading, I'm Elissa and here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit. We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage.
Our goal each season is to preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating, fermenting and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations.
Avoiding single use plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances is important to us and we are trying to live an older style life, balanced with this modern world.

As the sage dries, do you need to re-tie the strings tighter?

      Hi Cathline,
you could, but I don’t usually do that because once the sage is dry, it holds together as a solid stick fairly well, even with the string slightly loose.
It certainly looks nicer to have them re- tied up, neater and with less string, especially if gifting them.

Love this. I buy smudge sticks from my local apothecary but have some sage bushes so will try making my own.

      Hi Geoff,
It’s lovely to see you here. Apart from making use of your excess Sage and saving money on Smudge Sticks. Working will the sage, smells wonderful. 👋🏽 🌱 🦆

@MoatCottage it does! I use sage and dragon's blood incense alot. Love the smell! And very good for cleansing energies.

Great timing, sage is blooming right now. I've always used paper bags to dry herbs as it's breathable and I've got a home-made hanging wrack in the laundry.

Hello, how are you??? Do you keep Muscovy ducks? Is it possible to hatch Muscovy eggs in the incubator, can a good hatching be obtained? If you have information, I would like to inquire about the degree and humidity.

I don't recommend using your hand to catch burning embers, bit dangerous! Use a shell or a small pot, be safe! Thanks for the video though, it is great that you have shared and I'm grateful 💜

    Hello~
Is it ok to hang them on the balcony? The area I’m at is kind of dry❤️

If your air is dry, warm and it’s a shady position that should be fine. Maybe place them in paper bags to keep light out.

Why not just pray to Jesus - the one who made sage *and* the "uncomfortable presence you can feel."

Hi, I do both. As I sage my home I am speaking aloud to God asking Him to remove all negativity and darkness, and to fill my home with positivity, love and light. 🥰

Yes of course, do what you are most comfortable with. Sage is a tool we have been blessed with.
