      Ginger the Fox honestly dear, the only one who can decide any rules about how you look is you. If you don't like your body hair then go ahead and get rid of it. But if it doesn't bother you? No one has any right or any place to tell you that it has to go. Make yourself comfortable. Be polite and a good person- that does not necessitate bending to others whims.

    It's so sad that we have grown with so many beauty standards that don't allow us to accept our bodies the way they are. I've seen so many women with hair in their legs who just leave them to grow naturally. I've been bleaching, waxing, shaving and plucking since I was 11 because I've always been very hairy and I was also made fun at school by other girls (go figure...). With time it gets easier to accept that hair is normal, and know that if a boy doesn't like you with your hair, he definitely isn't worth your time.

  • @ellyshanicholson7958

    I think that these questions can be answered, but there are a ton of girls with PCOS (polycistic ovarian syndrome) and unfortunately most girls have an excess amount of hair growth. It doesn't matter if you shave or anything - you rarely get a close shave.. It would be cool if you did a video exploring PCOS (if you have any friends) cause its more common than you think! Might give a piece of mind to some of us girls if they have any tips!

      Kimberly D A safety razor is ~$20 and a 100-count blade pack is $11. That will last for about 5 years and seems pretty reasonable.

    • @xpledgeturnprestigex
      @xpledgeturnprestigex 7 лет назад +5

      Safety razors last longer and are better quality. It's only a few dollars for a giant pack of blades which last you years. You can even get the men's ones, which are sturdier. It's better to spend slightly more on something that isn't so bad for the environment. if you think of the money you spend each time on disposables over a 5 year period it's probably a whole lot more than just buying 1 that will last that long. I would definitely look into it, I'm glad I made the switch :)

    I used to be embarrassed about body hair too but then I was like wait why? It's totally natural to have and most women only shave because men have told them it's gross or manly. *Newsflash* if you're a woman and it grows on you naturally it can't be anything but womanly/feminine. Don't let your ideas of your body be warped by the male idea of femininity. Also in a way shaving promotes the infantilization of women's bodies. That being said if you just like shaving then by all mean go for it.

      I don't agree that most women shave because men told them it's gross/manly. Maybe some women shave for that reason, but a lot of women shave because they personally don't like the hair.
      Yes I totally agree hair is nothing to be ashamed of, I'm just pointing out not all women's opinions are morphed by male expectations.

    Bleeding is actually good (so long as it's minor bleeding) when it comes to waxing. It means that the hair follicle has been ripped out and it will come back thinner and softer if it comes back at all. The more you wax the less hair you'll have in those areas that will grow back. The only exception to this is facial hair. That shit always comes back.

    • @NoThankUBeQuiet
      @NoThankUBeQuiet 7 лет назад +14

    • @Ok_Sorbet-824
      @Ok_Sorbet-824 7 лет назад +11

      Never waxed but I found out the hard way that you MUST exfoliate before sugaring. (Many, many ingrowns.) Consider getting sugared by an esthetician first (or at least watch a crap ton of videos) before trying to DIY.

      Alexis Lingenfelter so expensive though. My problem was my hair broke. So I thought it worked until 2 weeks later when I had the most painful ingrown experience. If you can afford a professional though definitely try that.

    If you have unexplained, horrible hives, rashes, etc. that you just cannot figure out, you may be allergic to the nickel in razors. Everything I shave from the waist up has no reaction, but my bikini area and legs break out in hives every single time I shave. Because I shaved my legs nearly every day, I couldn't figure out the issue for the longest time.
    Unfortunately, there's no good solution. You can try to treat the skin, but that really doesn't prevent the reaction. There are also *no* razors that are nickel free (despite like 1 in 5 people having a nickel sensitivity) except for electric razors, which are not helpful for the bikini area, armpits, or legs most of the time. Waxing takes a lot of work and is painful, and if you have a nickel sensitivity, you're probably also sensitive to the chemicals in depilatory creams. There are no good options if you want to remove body hair if you have this issue.
    This is probably helpful to no one, but there may be ONE PERSON who has the same problem I suffered with for years. Maybe I can help that person.

    • @marit981
      @marit981 7 лет назад +1

      Rhiannon DeLuna oh my god, this explains a lot, I have a bad reaction every time I shave my legs so I've simply stopped doing it, but the rest of the body is fine, no worries what so ever

    • @rhiannonenright4458
      @rhiannonenright4458 7 лет назад +1

      I went to several doctors who all gave me the same suggestions. "Use unscented and hypoallergenic soap and detergents," etc. It wasn't until I almost died from blood clots and couldn't shave for weeks that I realized I had no hives, and shaving brought them back.

    • @hippieasmr
      @hippieasmr 7 лет назад

      Rhiannon DeLuna OH MY GOD I THINK THIS IS ME. yikes. hives city. have you ever tried laser or electrolysis? I'm going in for laser in a few weeks... I'm really nervous lol

    • @m0t0b33
      @m0t0b33 6 лет назад

      Have you tried a different brand of razors? Or, do you use the exact same razor immediately after you shaved your "upstairs" with it? Oh and one more question: does the rash appear right away or after a few hours? I mean I used to get rashy skin after shaving my legs and my bikini line, but I made some changes like, I spray some alcohol on the razor before I use it someplace else on my body, I use Gilette razors because they're made from stainless steel ( or so they say, but they are long lasting and they don't rust or go green, which they would if they contained nickle ), I use a shaving foam for sensitive skin ( the men kind, not the stuff they say is for girls... I mean if the thing is good for a guy's sensitive face, it's gotta do good on my nether regions) or, if I'm in a pinch, I use conditioner... the thick creamy kind, because that's the one that works the best for my dark leg hair. Oh and after the shaving, I wash the skin with the usual shower gel and then I apply chamomile water or rose water ( it's astringent, hypoallergenic, antibacterial and doesn't hurt at all... but make sure it's the natural kind, not the one that has ingredients list on the back...it's supposed to be floral water obtained by steam distillation of the plant/flower) oh and do try to wear skin friendly fabric afterwards.. no poliester or lycra if you can help it. Ooor, you know.. use sugar wax... another awesome alternative that's natural and hypoallergenic... but same aftercare for sensitive skin :)

    being hairier (than your dad or just in general) is often related to your biological needs. At least skinnier people often grow more hair since there isn't much body fat to keep warm. Nowadays it doesn't really help in any way but human bodies aren't really up to date when talking about unnecerssary bodyparts.

    • @cheshirecatgrin7680

      Amount of body hair has nothing to do with body fat. It comes down to ethnicity, genetics and hormone levels.

    For ingrown hairs:
    *Olive oil before to soften the hairs.
    *Very wet skin
    *Shaving gel or conditioner
    *Sharp razor (for thick hair like pubes use men's razors)
    *With the grain then against the grain, or with thicher hair shave with the grain then sideways.
    *Pat dry or air dry
    *Baby oil
    *Moisturize
    If you get ingrown hairs, massage on some more baby oil.
    Also, baby powder is good for legs not so much genitals.

    I'm saving up to get laser hair removal. As I have pale skin and black hair everything shows up and I'm prone to ingrown hairs. I'd rather just have 6 months of treatments (6 sessions) to be more or less hair free for the next few years. Shaving's also pretty bad for my eczema, so that's another reason.

      Vanessa Mountain I don't want to be a downer, but I'm also pale and dark haired and had laser done. It gets rid of most of your hair, but yours might just find a way to grow back blonde anyway, like mine did. Also, it can take more sessions and you need to go back once a year afterwards.

      Similar in that they pull hair out - but they are made up of heaps of tweezer heads. I have a Braun Silk Epil 7 Wet/Dry Epilator & LOVE IT! It's only the second epilator I've had in like 15 years...they last for ages! Also, the Braun has a trimming head which is great too ;)

    If you have sensitive skin, are prone to razor bumps or ingrown hair USE AN ELECTRIC RAZOR! It is so much gentler and you end up saving money. The only downside to it is most electric razors won't give you dolphin smooth legs, but it is so worth avoiding the pain of regular shaving!!

    to stop the ingrown hairs try an (unscented) stick deodorant, it should also help with the razor burn and the itch as the hair grows back in. the razor burn is coz the razor isn't sharp enough, youre pressing too hard/dragging and/or not using enough shaving gel (unscented, mens is better and cheaper)

    Girls it's also important to seek a doctor's opinion as well if you have a very hairy body + painful periods. Policystic Ovarian Syndrome is a real thing and the younger you're diagnosed the less doubt you have to suffer. I grew up thinking I was a freak because I had a mini beard more than my brother (like more hair per inch but short hair that's longer than peach fuzz) then I found out I have polycystic ovaries and that can make you succeptible to obesity, diabetes and depression. Please spread awareness. thank you for this video!

But like, I don't understand why I should have to shave my legs, pubic area etc. My mom always tells me I am a girl and girls should shave their legs but I don't get why. Also, shaving irritates my skin (especially in the pubic area) and waxing is too much work for me man.

    The stubbely butt crack is only a problem if your hair is on the coarser side.... I'm blonde and really haven't got a lot of hair... I shave my pits, the bikini line and the 'lips' once every week, my arms once a month ( if they bug me, and my lower leg once every two weeks... and the ONLY place where it gets annoying is 'lips' and where my underwear elastic sits...
    I usually only get ingrown hair where I have clothing that 'digs in' a bit, so my ingrown hair tip is to wear looser underwear the day or night you shave...
    Ingrown hair doesn't only come from shaving, it comes when the tip of the hair shaft is prevented from growing out the regular way...
    So I would say exfoliate!!! Not only the day you shave, but just a little every day... that way you make sure your hair shaft won't get caught under the skin...

    I think the longest I went without shaving my underarms was five or six months. I was just way too lazy to do it, and eventually I kind of stopped caring about the hair. I made sure I was clean, used deodorant, normal stuff you do. One thing really pissed me off, though. So, probably around the fourth month mark, it was toward the end of the summer, and I had a sleeveless shirt on at a party that my family went to. My grandmother got onto me about not shaving. I said, "Who cares? It is my body, I can do whatever I want with it." I was so mad! Why do girls feel like they have to shave all the time? Me personally, I think it is a good idea to take a break from shaving every now and then. It helps avoid nicks and razor burn a ton more. If you are shaving more than you actually need to, you are more likely to get those things.

    I used to get bullied all the time for my body hair in high school, too. I had hairy arms and a flat chest and was frequently called a man for it. Having women like you in the limelight, being so open about your experiences and not taking yourself too seriously, is SO refreshing and encouraging. I wish I'd been able to see people like you when I was in my teens, so hopefully this helps today's teens instead.
    I also never shaved my arm hair out of defiance. I decided that if I shaved them, the bullies would have won. Plus hardly anyone notices until I point it out.

    On the subject of dying armpit hair, I have done it many times (mostly purple, pink, turquoise and blue) but it doesn't last long at all. The sweat in your pits practically bleaches the dye out. It also will stain white shirts, it'll bleed more than dye on your head because of the sweat.
    Arm and leg hair dying on the other hand is so much fun and it lasts for months! I've only done turquoise but it always looks great!

    GUYS. Nair is absolutely revolutionary when it comes to my pubes !!!! Lol seriously though, I used to shave down there and we all know it sucks trying to get into the nooks and crannys and it just grows back in a couple days and gets SO itchy if you don't keep up with it. And there's razor burn and all that ok it's just overall an unfortunate experience. SERIOUSLY go get you some extra strength nair and put it all over down there (or wherever) and leave it and wash all that hair off!!! It seriously amazing and a life changer no razor burn or itchy pubes or ANYTHING!!! It may burn the first time but after that nothing, it's totally painless. And just be a little careful about getting it in sensitive areas, but don't let it keep you from it because it won't be unbearable and any bad feelings will wash away quickly!!!
