    Been carrying the same USP .40 for 20 years. No modifications, a spring replacement and a new barrel.
    I have no idea how many thousands of rounds I have fired through it.
    It has never failed. It does not like Tulamo steel, but I don't either...
    It went with me to Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, countless hunting seasons, God knows how many felony stops, and a run in with a couple burglars.
    Thank you H&K....

      Agreed. TulAmmo is really good at being bad. The problem with cheap, crappy TulAmmo is the stupid lacquer coating on the case. The lacquer coating gets hot, gets quite tacky, and becomes the reason for FTE's, stovepipes, etc. Not the USP's fault, the cheap ammo's fault. With any gun, unless you're looking to train around failures, followed by a heavy cleaning, stay away from TulAmmo.

    I paid $839 for mine. Mine was made in 2019. I did not have a .45ACP pistol and I only wanted one. THIS IS THE THE ONE! High quality, easy to break down and clean. I did have to put on a rail picatinny adapter for my light. 12+1 is plenty. H&K’s are military weapons....made to work every time, and last a long long time.

  • @surfing636

    I bought my USP-9 in 2000, great pistol. Using the de-cocker, you can carry a round for double action or thumb the hammer for single. For heavy target practice (100+ rds), a glove is needed, the aggressive stippling on the back strap will make your hand raw. But still a modern pistol with great reliability!

    I have USP 45 basic and tactical. I used them in the military apart from other HK systems. Depending on application MP5 or so. My point is simple what would you carry in to the suck that you can trust. In my case I will always carry my sub compact USP 45. What a great gun you do get what you pay for. Hey if it's your carry just make sure you practice a lot with it. Happy hallidays.

  • @Adamorevo

    The tactical version has a heavier recoil spring for use with a suppressor. It makes for less recoil. The same spring can be used in the non-tactical USP.

    The accessory rail is proprietary, because they were one of the first to put a rail on a pistol. There are rail adapters available for accessories. I like everything about this pistol, including the mag release (I have no preference between the US and European releases). The long, heavy DA trigger pull is there to prevent an accidental discharge. This thing will run any ammo fed (excluding Tulammo - ammo quality, not gun problem), and the barrel is made from cannon grade steel. During durability testing, they purposely squibbed a round, then fired another standard round to test barrel strength. The barrel only slightly bulged, but remained safe to shoot. The price of one of these pistols is well worth the money. The USP finish is a special treatment designed for hostile environments. and actually penetrates into the slide, protecting it, even where the black has been worn off, and is built rugged enough for combat (like the Mark 23 was designed for), and one of the reasons the USP is so reliable. It also passes the heritage on to the HK45, which also has custom fit hand grip panels for accommodating different hand sizes. The recoil buffer in the HK45 is not as robust as the system engineered for the USP series, or the Mark 23. For storage, the trigger can be locked out, without the use of an external trigger lock. For those in states where suppressors are legal, the USP Tactical is available with suppressor sights and a threaded barrel.

  • @DUIShenanigans
    @DUIShenanigans 7 лет назад

    One thing you may not have noticed is that the Hk USP is one of the few guns you can put on safe and still be able to check the chamber or clear the gun at the same time. Most guns that have a thumb safety stop the trigger from moving and ALSO the slide

    No firearm, at least pistol, has been tested to the point the USP 45 was, the 45 is a direct decendent of the Mark 23, AKA the toughest pistol ever hands down. I've been doing research for years and have yet to find a more proven platform.

  • @evanacey1414

    The reason that HK went with a proprietary rail on the USP is because they are the ones who first invented the concept of having an accessory rail under the barrel of a handgun to mount lights, lasers, etc. They are also the first company to produce a polymer framed pistol.. When you pay HK prices you aren’t just paying for a name.. You are paying for some of the finest engineering, most innovative designs, and highest build quality in history.

    A real cool video on the HK. I own the USP in 45 and it's my namesake. Thank you. Unfortunately, the range shooting might need to change significantly. No bad guy stands there for, I timed it, between 4 and 10 seconds between shots. So if the intent is to show that the gun is sighted in, well than ok. But for shooter skills, 5 shots within 3 seconds in the sweet spot shows your ability to defend yourself. Didn't see it today.

    HAHAHAHA Over-priced? NO WAY! I bought mine yrs and yrs ago. It was an officer trade in and I got it for $675. I added an ambi safety, had it cerakoted black and tan and its looks brand new. I have over 6000 rds through it and it malfunctioned once. A bad gnarled up but unshot 45 bullet I found at the range I tried to fire. Due to the dents in it, the bullet fired but did not eject well. All in all the one gun I know will go bang if I ever had to bet my life on it. Thats why its by my bed at night and not in the safe.

    Everyone gets the gets the history of this gun wrong. The first version of it was the Mk 23 SOCOM Offensive Pistol in .45acp the world's first true "Tactical Handgun" and everything after that, I.E. USP 45, 40, and 9 (and their respective tactical variety) were made to accommodate an updated customer constraints. Smaller, debatably more ergonomic, in a wider array of calibers and finishes, but ultimately the same gun. Now in the modern market HK had updated yet again with the P30 series for 9mm and 40, and the HK45 for .45acp, all once again smaller, superior ergonomics, pic rail, and superior capacity (except for the HK45).

    Why does nobody seem to like this handgun? At every gun range I've been to for the last five years, I've never seen anyone with a USP. I've owned one for three years. It's very accurate, digests almost any .45 ammo I feed it, has probably jammed only once and doesn't feel like it's the size of a bus. I have smaller hands than most guys but I can squeeze shots off with this all day with confidence. Oh, and it doesn't cost $1,500 so that's a heckuva lot of money saved up for ammo. : )
    So, why does nobody like it? I still haven't found a real answer...

    • @largol33t1
      @largol33t1 7 лет назад

      Magnus, you probably misunderstood my question. I've been to ranges and almost always see someone with a very fancy M1911 style handgun. They are not cheap. I've never seen one sell for under $1,000. That's why I don't understand why some love the .45 and then, incredibly, buy a fancy M1911 style handgun such as Kimber or Felix Mogdan and then whine about the price! The USP cost me NOWHERE near even $900. I don't care about the accessories, my USP doesn't even have a ported barrel attachment (seems to be the most common type because they want it to look like the Tomb Raider version). Why do they worry about the price when they're going to splurge on the accessories like those overpriced Surefire lights and $150 lasers?

      Because people are stupid and think $800 is too much for one gun but will buy three Glocks for $500 a pop and think they've done well

    The compact holds 8 rounds and the full size holds 10.

      Cold World I'm pretty sure it's 10 and 12 for .45 ACP

      Cold World The usp45c can take 8rd mags or 10rd 'elephant foot' mags. It won't accept usp fs mags. The usp45 takes 10 or 12 rod mags depending on whether you live in a free state or not.

    I don't think the USP45 was made until the late 90s.
