Thanks again for another great reaction! IMHO, this song was meant more as an emotional/spiritual thing than a physical thing. One way of looking at this is that every time she thinks of the person she is so in love with, it puts her more in touch with herself. So just by thinking of that person, she touches herself, if that makes any sense at all. And, that's how they spun it to the regulatory committee to get the song radio airplay at all.

    From Song Facts......
This is clearly about masturbation, but there's more to it. In our interview with Billy Steinberg, he said: "What I like about the song is that in spite of the fact that the chorus kind of boldly says that, the verse was much more sort of poetic and kind of meaningful. It says, 'I love myself, I want you to love me, when I feel down I want you above me, I search myself, I want you to find me, I forget myself, I want you to remind me.' Those words I think are very strong and it's not an obvious start to finish jack off song. I like playing with words, and whether it's 'Like a Virgin' or 'I Touch Myself,' I like taking phrases or words that are sort of untapped and find a way to write something meaningful and that has a rebelliousness because really that's what rock's all about. Talking 'bout my generation, you know."
    I like that!!! :)

I was a slightly dodgy club in London when I saw a gorgeous girl walk in, we made eye contact and looked away. For the next hour or so we'd keep making eye contact and when this song came up, I took my shot. Walked over and asked her to dance and it was one heck of a dance. Then Bad Touch came on and our fates were sealed. 22 years later we're still together and married for the last 20.

You probably don't know them because they were a very popular Australian rock band. Huge group here but this song is the only known in the US. Chrissy Amphlett sadly passed away at only 53 from breast cancer and MS. Please react to more bangers,
    Boys in town
    Only lonely
    Pleasure and pain

Should watch her official vid too, she just owns her space singing those naughty lyrics. Lots of fun, I’ve always loved this song. Ofc now you’ve gotta react to her song, ‘Pleasure and Pain’.

I’m Australian & very familiar with this & other Divinyls songs. Watching your reaction made me search facts on this song - I’ve only just now learned that Michael Bay directed the iconic music video apparently! 😮

Chrissy dropped a hammer. The video is amazing, she was a beautiful woman, and sang an absolute banger (pun maybe or maybe not intended.) What a fantastic song. This was the first confirmation for me as an adolescent that WOMEN DO IT TOO!!!

Years ago, I flew from Philly to LA on business. On a night out, I ran into Chrissy and Mark at Chinois Restaurant on Main in Santa Monica. Being a good musician as a hobby and fan of The Divinyls the crew demanded I join them. I had such a fun evening with a lot of laughs. Can't say enough about how nice they were.
BJ you are too funny ! 🤣

African American, Charley Drayton joined the band as their drummer after recording this with them. Chrissy was later married to him up until the time she died.

Love this song, beautiful woman may she rest in peace. I've heard this song at least a thousand times, and I still get a chuckle when she says "I honestly do" after one of the "I touch myself." It's like shes saying "I am confessing here and now I touch myself" lol

When I DJ'd for a while in gentlemen's clubs around 30 years ago, this was one of the top songs the requested by the dancers. On Broadway by George Benson was also a top pick.
