Sheepshead is my favorite fish to eat except for bluefin tuna I love sheep and it is the unsung hero. Oftentimes I will put it in some cheese cloth or pantyhose and I will boil it like you boil shrimp and then chop it up and make Poor Man's lobster rolls it's back freaking tacular they eat predominantly Crustaceans so their meat tends to be very similar
Dude how tall are you? It almost looks like you have those hobie peddles pushed all the way forward. I'm thinking about getting one of those yaks but I'm 6'7" fat boy so that may well stop me from getting a hobie instead of something with a trolling motor. Also is that the 14 or 12 PA?
Biting at the chomps to get into some sheepshead this summer. Question? When you charter kayak trips, do you supply the kayaks or is it bring your own? Asking for a friend. Lol
@@southernsalt hook reveal uses the same same 3 in 1 unless you’re using the NEW active target. If you’re using that how do you have that setup on your yak? Can you do a complete walk thru on your yak setup, that you would cool.
Favorite caught fish to eat is flounder. Season and limits keep getting smaller here in NC, but it is tons of fun to gig them out on the outer banks. If I buy fish, it's hard to beat some salmon off of the smoker.
I watch your videos & Bayou Bandits ,, y’all kinda seem to fish in,, more or less shallower water ,, what’s the deepest water you have caught the Sheepshead in ,,
@@southernsaltok thanks, We are in central Florida, maybe one of this days we may travel to your area. It will be awesome to go fishing, you got one of the most positive aptitudes on RUclips. God bless, and tight lines!
Sheepshead for sure. But here in Texas our limit is 5 per and 15”. My wife loves to fish more than me even but hates fishy taste but was hooked on the Sheep. Good video bro❤️
Tastiest fish for freshwater would be a tie between walleye and yellow perch (same family) and for saltwater it is mahi (for tacos) and flounder (fried, baked with some crab meat, etc.)
I’ve been following your channel lately and enjoy the content. I’m surprised though that you mention you do charters, but you don’t ever seem to know the legal size or count limits for where you are fishing.
Because I never keep or encourage limits. If a client insist than I pull out the ole google and see where we’re at. I fish in 4 different states on the regular and regulations are often changing.
Flounder, sheepshead, Spanish mackerel, and pompano!
It pop
Nice lineup!!
I love in this order: sheephead, pompano, redfish, flounder.
Great choices!!
@9:05 Dang it! And that's 20lb braid!
Puffer the best hands down
Never tried that lol
Flounder & Pompano!
Great table fare 🙌
1st and 2nd is a tie between flounder and triple tail, 3rd and 4th is sheep and black drum, 5th trout, 6th redfish, but only on the half shell.
🙌
#1 is a tie between. Cobia and AJ.

Nice!

🙌
Sheepshead crappie flounder and pompano!
🙌 man I love crappie just about as much as anything else!
Redfish or Mangrove snapper are my favorites.
Mangrove are pretty dang tasty for sure!
Crappie for fresh water and flounder for salt water
🙌
Pompano, sheepshead then flounder for me.
🙌
Fried! 😂
😂
Shark is the best saltwater and catfish for fresh water
Interesting!
I love me some snook! Flounder second
Snook is pretty dang good for sure!!
Black drum, flounder, and red drum.

@@southernsalt I have yet to try sheepshead. My choices might change when I do!!!!

You won’t regret it lol
Walleye is good, daughter just moved down that way. Want to haul the yak down there and try that
🙌 🙌
Never eat salt water fish "fresh " but I love crappie ,and they are fixing to turn on.
Man so many good fish out especially when it’s fresh! I do love some crappie too!!
Check out the Penn battle DX’s
I’ll look into it!
What’s up man!! I fish locally in Mississippi around Gautier, ocean springs and Biloxi area in my kayak, love your videos!
Awesome man, right down the road from here!
I'm late to the party but my all time favorite fish for taste is Golden Croaker. Hard to catch a good sized like you used to but man are they tasty
Very interesting!
Whitting is our fish of choice
Interesting choice!
Sheepshead is my tastiest and 2nd choice are flatties

My favorite tasting fish is Ling Cod. My mom said King Salmon. I prefer Silver Salmon if we’re eating salmon.
I don’t think I’ve ever had those fish, nice!
@@southernsalt Wow, things are so different on different sides of the country. I can’t wait to try pompano and sheepshead.

In order. Sheepshead, Snook, Flounder, Gag Grouper, Snapper, Trout and Redfish.
Love it!!
Crappie, Flounder, Grouper, Amberjack, Speckled Trout.
Excellent choices!
Why do you use a spinning rig over your casting rig for sheepshead ?
It’s hard to cast live bait with a baitcaster imo.
Flounder, specks.
🙌 🙌
Looking at planning a day trip with my yak to south bama. Any good sheep head, trout or red spots. Coming from Millbrook bama
Check out my patreon channel. Link in description. There’s over 100 videos there that go I. Depth on google earth about areas around here
I’m gonna get down for a sheep trip next winter unless we can catch ‘em later next month
Next month will be hit or miss. They start moving offshore in the next few weeks.
@@southernsalt if I can line it up maybe reds specks and flounder
I need to film a good salt trip
great video as always
Thanks brother!!
Are there any good artificial baits that catch Sheepshead.
Several of them. The Buggs Fishing Click Bait Shrimp and the Cranka Crab work well
@@southernsalt thanks for the insight really enjoy your channel tight lines.
Y you not using red worms. You said it worked good
They do work good. I had some on me for this trip, but I also had shrimp so that’s what we used
My favorite salt water fish to eat is grouper and red snap
Both of those are amazing!! I’m ready to get back offshore and catch a few!
Fantastic time! Even in the wind and cold!
Man always a pleasure brother, looking forward to the next one!
Where are u located i am in SWFL I’d love to do this with you
I’m in Mobile Al
I love me some flounder but when I am in the mood and on the seldom times I do, snook are absolutely amazing for table fare.
Man I ate Snook for the 1st time this past September it in was doggone Awesome!!

Absolutely!

You mean you can eat other fish besides flounder?! Great video Nate! As always.
😂 I know it sounds weird right?!?!
Would love to go out on the waters with you one day! just got a kayak like yours for my birthday
Nice!! Good luck out there!
Flounder, ground mullet, sheepshead and fresh white trout....mangroves is also in the mix. Another great video!

The summer is not really the prime time for sheeps right now and the next month is really on fire
I’ll be sending out tomorrow the big poppers we talked about in December. Enjoy and abuse them

It’s not active target. It’s a Hook Reveal

Trout , reds and flounder!
Triggerfish
