2017 HARLEY DAVIDSON STREET XG750 ENGINE; WILL SHE START???

  • I purchased a Harley Davidson Street 750 fuel injected, liquid cooled engine for a transplant! The engine was secured to a pallet that failed during the trip from California. To the best of my knowledge it bounced its way all across the United States on its journey here in the Midwest. The cylinder head (jug) was hanging through the pallet directly in the way of the fork lift and pallet jack access. To the best of knowledge it took several blows to the cylinder head. Can I assemble all the pieces and parts to make these engine 'purgolate' (operational)? The goal is to test it before investing additional time, money, and effort on a transplant.

After the damaged shipment I was really worried about this unit. It sounded pretty freaking awesome hearing it run for the first time..... It's still waiting on a custom transplant. Thanks for watching 👍😁

I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind helping. I have 2015 street 750 last yr it started sputtering while cruising. This yr it's sputtering when starting up. I changed plugs fuel pump fuel line. Not showing any codes.
I did notice oil laying in the air filter. Surely it's not valves?

Far from an expert on this newer engine model. I can tell you my 02' Sportster gets oil in the air cleaner on the regular. The crank case is vented into the air cleaner and the engine 'sucks' atomized oil out and into the air cleaner housing. It then collects and drips out of the housing. I would guess bad gas could be part of the culprit. They usually tune these newer engines on the lean side for emissions which makes them extra sensitive to fuel. I run 89 octane. I feel like the higher grades run too hot and are likely old from sitting in the pump tanks too long. Last minute side thought, if you changed the exhaust and or air cleaner housing it needs a new EFI tune. Best of luck on the repair and thanks for watching! 👍😁
