Even if disrupt comes clean, returns all the money they scammed from viewers, and apologise for the attempted scam, will this channel ever return to its former glory? It's a sign of a deep disturbance within, and unless that rot is removed, I don't see a recovery possible.
To think he could have simply asked for the money and not sold the crowdfunding as an "investment". . . The channel wouldn't be in this PR mess, and they might have actually got more money.
It's obvious they had an engaged community that loved their content. It's both a shock and a shame to see this happen... Let's see what sort of damage control is followed up upon since deleting the two videos.

So they offer this guy a choice to be an informant, paid housing and even rehab, but the kingpin of silk road wasnt even given parole (not justifying his actions btw). Pretty compelling how these sentences vary amongst cyber criminals.

True. But Ross (dread pirate) wasn’t necessarily a hacker he just set up a tor service that offered up illicit goods, and grew a 7 billion dollar black market cyber empire. It actually is quite amazing. But I’m not sure that the feds had any use for him deanonymizing a bunch of users when the site was seized anyhow. It’s also pretty hard to de-anonymize users on tor given how tor works. BUT there has been work done to try and do that with kax17. Which is believed to be feds running mass amount of relays in attempt to dilute the amount of relays running, in hopes that a users traffic would run through all 3 relays run by them thus gaining the users actual IP.
This guy on the other hand was good at hacking which can be used for good.
He was a minor at the time, they wouldn't've been able to convict him with anything serious. It definitely made sense to try to recruit the guy tbh, also what he'd done at the time is nowhere near comparable to running infrastructure to facilitate illicit activity as well as the attempted murder of multiple people lmao

Credit/debit card fraud is dying these days thanks to the plethora of security implementations like chip & pin, encrypted card info and 2FA. It still happens ofcourse but not on the scale as shown in the video as its become too much work and little reward. This is mostly popular in the 90s and early 2000s. Nowadays blackhats just go straight for your bank logins, cryptocurrency wallets or demand a ransom via ransomware.

Technically it wasn't fully a scam if you ended up giving nothing in return and not doing what he said he would do that would be a scam he manipulated his audience into thinking they were getting a lot more that was dishonest and unless he decided that he was going to put more time in for free and put more work into the videos I doubt he would have been able to fulfill that promise of production unless he was planning on bringing all the documentaries made to the RUclips channel meaning that was his way of saying he brought more content the evaluation of his value of his company was not correct either unless he doesn't know how to evaluate a company and just felt like that was what it was worth maybe he's counting all the videos that were produced in the past he needs to refund all the money though just work with the guy or have the other guy take over at this point he needs to earn trust back he's already damaged his reputation and for some that can't be fixed

It’s a great investment opportunity! For every percentage you own the company, you get paid that percentage from every video he makes! If I brought 1% of the channel for $10,000, I could make up to $100 a year in just a short 100 years. I could easily make my money back plus more while helping my favourite youtuber who doesn’t scam people.

His whole sale pitch for his investment was “for every percentage of the company you buy, you will be paid that amount from every video the channel makes”
The problem with this is he valued his own company at $10 million, this means 1% of his company is worth $10,000. No matter how much money you invest, it will still take you decades to just make your money back let alone make more money then what you started with like he advertised.
The worse part is there is no third party controlling any of this, he doesn’t have to pay you anything, or give back your money, you can’t even sell your shares because they don’t exist and if they did exist, no one would buy them because they’re not valid, their fake.
Plus he said the money is to “better the company and increase production” which is not true.
All of that is what really makes it a scam, the $500k is just the icing on top, or the base since it’s the reason why all of this is happening

Look, the content this channel has is some of my favorite videos on all of RUclips. I've watched some of these videos three or four times.
But I can't, in good faith, support someone who is going to blatantly lie to their audience. It's kinda exceptionally ironic because some of the topics you cover here are similar to what you tried to do. Not gonna be watching any more videos from here and going to hit the "Do not recommend" for your channel.
