Great video! I just received this this pedal yesterday and can confirm it sound incredible! The impedance knob makes it incredibly versatile. I played it through my tele and 339 as well, no complaints!
That's a clever solution to the Ge temp issue; don't know if I have equal enthusiasm for the buffer/ pickup sim idea.I know the Hawaiian Pizza offered a similar feature, though I thought the result was more like an Overdrive/ Distortion. Digging the solution on the Kingtone Ge Mini, - and there really needed to be some way to address the problem. I've been through MANY Ge fuzzes that just proved disappointingly unstable.(If they're "cheap and cheerful" that's one thing, but paying $300 for a pedal that functions half the time , is another.)Like yourself, I had largely given up on Ge , - these solutions give it's irreplaceable sound new life.Guess I can give up now on coming up with that patent. Nice work, as always,- Peace.
Love the tasty tune as always and the tele wah sound is freaking great. You said the temperature regulates the germanium diodes, think you meant to say transistors. 😁 Always great demos man.
Ryan, you have this sound/style in all your demos that has this R&B-ish vibe to it, with some rock, jazz, etc mixed in. And it has this swung feel to it also. I’m interested in what your influences are and what kind of bands did/do you listen to so I can dive deeper into this “genre”. Is this sound specific to the area you grew up/living in? It’s brilliant.
oh man, it's the sound of a super confused kid who looked up to his father who listened to white 70's rock, but a mother who played motown in the house when dad was at work. i listen to a lot of motown music to this day and a lot of modern jazz that leans heavily on r&b like alfa mist, yussef dayes, joe armon-jones, and ezra collective are on pretty steady rotation these days. i actually don't listen to many guitar players. it's weird, i know.
@@DemosInTheDark Haha! I was smiling all the way when I read this. I totally see why I resonate with your playing because I'm a big Motown fan too and have also been listening to Yussef Dayes via Tom Misch as well as Ezra Collective since I discovered Femi from that Tiny Desk he did playing drums for Jorja Smith. I think it's your chordal work that I identify with. You can dirty it up all you want with your germanium fuzzes and whatever the kids are doing with their granular delays but those chord extensions you play are still beautiful, man.
@@DemosInTheDark just got it. It’s maybe the best dirt pedal I’ve ever played. I love what it does at almost (probably) every setting. Thanks again for the great vid.
So...?? There is a "heater" inside? I understand how that might help with stabilization where you are in the frozen north or indeed in Portland where it was designed. How does that help with heat from stage lights or, in my case, the Texas sun during our many outdoor music festivals here in Austin. Is it designed to run really hot all the time and the heater just keeps it from cooling down? I could probably look this up on the Benson website huh? LOL. Sounds great though. Not quite as wooly as I would expect from a germanium Fuzz Face but very nice. Definitely has its' own thing. Thanks!
so here is my understanding, cuz i was in the same boat as you cats, these transistors can be biased hot and then the important thing is keeping them steady, which the heater takes care of.
hmm... that’s tough. benson if you wanna stay traditional, sputnik if you need the option to go experimenting. 🤷♂️ i dunno. they both rule! love love love me some brute too!
Oh my wallet, Benson just makes incredible stuff. Great demo, as always. Now we’re talking fuzz, there’s on thing I want to ask for some time: what fuzz pedal was used on the intro track of all your video’s?
To think the guy who invented this did it in an RV over COVID lockdown in 2020. Sometimes the greatest innovations come from adversity...or boredom...or both.
Cool pedal, I agree germanium fuzz is the best effect, the Fuzz Factory is what I enjoy most on my board. It saddens me to think of "playing out", I really think those days are over. No one is talking about an end to masks and lock downs, all I'm hearing is "new normal", and venues are permanently going under. It blows me away to see how unquestioning the public is too. If we're all supposed to suddenly embrace authoritarianism over something we can't see, then extreme amounts of proof should be provided that the destruction of arts, education, and independent business is necessary for our survival. And that's obviously not true at all.
Eh that’s a little fear filled my friend. Lock down will end. People will return to “normal” but similarly to 9/11 things will be different. Eventually vaccines or just overall time will allow us to come back to concerts and gigs. It’s in the future. And capitalism will bring new venues back. Some of the old will be gone, but there will be new. It’s not authoritarian by any means. Don’t fear monger. Try and live everyday thankful you woke up! Cheers man. Hope it gets better sooner tho!
Well said. Funny how the results of this pandemic only benefit rich people and authoritarians, but we should pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
@@kentonschroer2347 I agree there are many similarities to the pandemic and 9/11. And I'm speaking my mind, not "fear mongering". You should take a moment and think about why you accused me of that as a knee jerk reaction to hearing something you don't like.
Come to a (european) hospital and see dying people in overcrowded services run by exhausted nurses and doctors to convince you to embrace authoritarianism over something you can’t see. By the way, arts, education and independant businesses are not destroyed in my country . Restaurants and bars are dying
@@perudolux It's not just restaurants and bars, that's a ridiculous statement. And why don't YOU visit your local hospital and see for yourself if the destruction of what's left of freedom and arts is worth your fear. #mindless
my philosophy is to play chords and things everyone knows and repeat them while changing the settings so that you focus on the pedal changing, rather than what i'm doing on guitar. sorry you don't dig it.

exactly! sounds great no matter what ya do with it! nice buy!
Isn't it ironic, filament heaters for vacuum tubes (valves) have been around since their inception. The concept applies here as well. Very cool !
we guitar players are such an antiquated species, ain't we?
Ryan, I knew I could count on you for that fuzzy Tele sound. You're the best.

a technical question. Do I get the same functions as the Benson Germanium Boost (green pedal) by setting the Benson germanium fuzz as a clean boost?
so slick
like oil, baybeee!
The drums are amazing in this video. Is it a real drummer or do you program it? Could you tell which program you're using if it's not a real musician?
