If you pay 60k for one of those trucks you're the problem with the industry.

And I thought a 300$ to 400$ lease was a bad way to spend money, assuming no taxable deductions

Those crazy high lease payments for a truck and any vechile overall are just ridiculous. Leasing is supposed to be a 'deal' with a more reasonable payment. Having a $700 a month lease is like burning money. You have nothing to show for it at the end of the term....makes no financial sense. I know a guy leasing an expedition for $950 a month....I told him you are an idiot. If you are going to burn that in a lease at least get a X5 not a Ford.

Can someone explain why would anyone want to lease or buy a Ford truck knowing just how unreliable it has always been? And they want you to pay the same, if not more, than its competitors?

I was you 3 years ago, exact same thought ran through my head.. until I got a Ford! As someone who drives these trucks 50k miles a year through dirty, mud, snow, rain, sunshine etc.. I can attest that personally I've had more reliability and enjoyment from a 2019 Ford than any other Silverado or Sierra I've driven in my career. I recently received my 2024 Ford F-150 and I agree, overpriced 70k truck for cloth seats and it's still a half ton, but jesus what an amazing machine it is compared to Chevrolet at least. I've never really driven any other brand truck for as long as I've driven Chevrolet or Ford so I cant speak on others. Amazing trucks Ford actually has. I baby'd it though, same dealer no where else. Over 40+ CarFax dates/services and most were oil changes. I beat the crap out of my 2019, I work in Agriculture and my 50k miles a year are different than anyone 50k miles they accumulate over 4-5 years. I'm honestly a Ford guy.
Disclaimer: my employer provides me with the truck that I can use for both personal/work. I don't actually OWN a vehicle myself.
