Patton is right about saying that the Eddie character was an '80s outlier type of character and we rarely see that on films anymore....
but the thing is... most if not all of us are Eddies now 😏🤘 what Eddie loved, which were considered subculture sort back then are MAINSTREAM now. the popularity of Stranger Things itself, the public love for Eddie, that's clear signs that the generations alive today are all Geekified 🤓, and many many people are now independent thinkers, exactly what Eddie is.

For those who want Eddie brought back, it's entirely possible. They can't bring him back from the dead, of course, but Dustin can have memories and flashbacks of Eddie, new moments created for viewers in the Season 5 script. He could also appear in Dustin's dreams,
similar to how Kyle Reese appears to Sarah Connor in her dream in the extended version of T2. There he could give warning about Vecna/the Upside Down and maybe some advice. I'd also like to see a tribute to all lives lost in Hawkins at a mass town memorial, with Dustin giving a eulogy for and tribute to Eddie, telling them about how Eddie really was, how he sacrificed himself, how he didn't kill anyone, hopefully getting through to the people. There's no way that the citizens of Hawkins can ignore what's infiltrated their own backyard, but I would love to see the series end in a satisfactory way and with Eddie's name cleared.
