The fact that Winona Ryder was not nominated for EMMYS for her role in Stranger Things is a disgrace in the history of Emmy Awards.
I read it's because the show started too late but will be eligible next year. I was a little concerned about that too.

And honestly, I’m of the opinion that anything that has to do with people is political. The root of the word “political” comes from the Greek word, polis, which refers to a body of citizens.
The other answer is that maybe Winona doesn’t see her statement as being political at all. Maybe she’s just responding as a highly empathetic person to something tragic that’s been on her mind. I don’t find it rude when people talk about something that’s clearly touched them deeply and they care about a lot. You have every right to find it rude if you want, no judgment here. I am so happy for all the actors in this show and their successes. The reason I started watching stranger things was because when I saw the trailer and saw Winona, she was the reason. And I loved it! Just finished season 3 and it different from the rest and a lot of drama, oh the drake killed me. I hope all theories out there are right about one character in the show.
