- Comparison between Fender guitars (part1). Which one sounds the best to play John Frusciante riffs on Red Hot Chili Peppers songs?
Stratocaster MIM 60's (2001) upgraded with 57/62 pickups
Telecaster Roadworn (2008) upgraded with Twang King neck pickup.
I play on backing tracks that are the property of GuitarBackingTrack.com - thank you guys for your work on this website.

Wow, Anthony Kiedis playing guitar
JAJAAJHA
Ahhahha
For real
We need him backing John again 😳
😂😂😂😂
I always wanted to see 90s Dave Grohl play the peppers
That's Anthony Kiedis
Cant Stop- Tele
My Lovely Man- Tele
Soul To Squeeze- Strat
Scar Tissue- Tele
Mellowship Slinky In B Major- Strat
Give It Away- Tele
Hey Oh (Snow)- Tele
Overall Telecaster Wins Great video amazing playing love it
Surprisingly the tele really outdid the strat in Can't Stop
the original song was recorded on a tele so..........
@@Tommy-TwigFan how'd you know if it's recorded on tele?
@@mashilmy the album was recorded with a telecaster exclusively
@@Tommy-TwigFan really? Didn't know that
@@Lalairu That´s a Myth, John also used his 62 strat on By The Way a lot!
First of all, great playing man! Secondly, the tele sounded clearer, more articulate, more full and present, and more like the record than the Strat. In the studio, John can beef his Strat up to be all of those things. Organically the tele has a more immediate John tone (in my opinion).
Thanks! Yes i agree with the tele character being purer and more direct than strat, but I felt it more while playing rather than while listening to it.
John used his 63 tele almost exclusively the time I saw them after by the way. I guess the Strat was having some work done... either way, you could prob sound pretty close to John with an ibanez jazzbox. A lot of it has to do with the fingers and you nailed his strumming rhythm, note articulation, and vibrato. All that tends to add up more than pickups or body style. That said- if the tele sounds better in the room and to me on the recording I guess we’re both right that the tele does the best FOR YOU to nail the tone.
@@erickmo1188 thanks, I totally agree with you,
you seem to like John as much as I do !
I'm falling in love with Tele...
As well you should...
Wow! I'm a huge RHCP fan and in the market for a new guitar. Been struggling with whether to go strat or tele as i start to get into learning their songs. This video made it pretty definitive..... TELE
You can never go wrong with a tele both are great and can't go wrong with either but damn that tele tone is noice lol
Did you end up buying the Tele? ive been struggling to decide, I think I prefer the Strat sound But im in love with the Tele look and simplicity ...HELP ME DECIDE PLS :)
@@adamsDevArtyou cant go wrong with either.. strat is more comfortable
I'm always being strat guy..
But i also love tele sound and look
It's always been a really hard choices when you're a fender user 😒
When you got a new strat, then maybe 2-3months later I'm sure you also want a new tele
I love them all, specially teles (standard and 72 custom models) and mustangs
It's depend with the songs
you right
Honestly i watched one video. Starting looking stuff up on google. And i don't know how many videos passed this precious audio in the background. But great playing, and you've earned a sub friend.
I can close my eyes and tell the difference.
The Strat sounds as if the strings are loser in a way, kinda like there’s a resonance from them on the frets but produced naturally.
You can hear the high ends much more and in some spots sound hollow but others not.
The Tele had a greater clarity yet also that resonance once again only to a lesser degree.
It had a tone much more balanced and was equal through the strings and it was very bright yet to just the right amount.
All and all both guitars really sounded like Chilli Peppers where playing it or that the player (you) really could mimic the tone of The Peppers.
These are great Fender tones which only these guitars produce in my opinion.
Awesome! Sounds totally sounds like the originals!
Tele seams brighter strat warmer. All in what you looking for. Both sound great. Give me either one and I'll be happy or in my case I have a strat so give me a tele and I'll be happy. Or les paul cause it sounds so different
You play can't stop like I did (excellent playing btw). When you play the 5th fret on the A string it sounds slightly off. I did this since I couldn't get my thumb over to mute the top two strings, but it seems like you have that down, so if you can swap that with an open D it will sound much more like the original song. (This is a two year old video so idk if you've already changed it, but just a tip for people).
Anthony Kiedis is that u? Haha great job and awesome quality in your videos. It would be great to make another jazzmaster video.
Thanks! It's because of the Beatles/Kiedis haircut! I have never played a jazzmaster, but I would be happy to compare if I have the occasion.
Telecaster bridge pick up beats strat bridge anytime... it pokes out so much more in your face
telecaster feels like its cutting through better
stratocaster feels more warm and creamy but can still cut through if amped right
I own a strat
Both guitars but if I have to choose one, I prefer Jazzmasters hahaha.
Good job man Tele has clear and clean sounds, on the other hand strat strong and sorround sounds.
Fantastic video, this made it easier to decide between the two! As a Strat Lover, I love it but often find the volume knob and pick up selector tend to get in the way for me. The Tele takes care of that, and the middle pickup is not something I used that much (2 and 4 rock but so does the middle on the Tele). I also find using fingers and moving the neck produces a nice vibrato to the style of whammy I do on a strat trem. I think Tele may be even better for me than I thought. Thanks!
I love teles but I also love strats but if I had to choose it would be a tele
Great playing, and both guitars sound great. If I had both I'd pick and choose based on the song. I thought, as someone else said, that the tele sounded a bit better on can't stop, but I preferred the strat on scar tissue, for example. I want both guitars :-)
Can’t stop tele
My lovely man strat
Soul to squeeze strat
Scar tissue strat
Mellowship Strat
Give it away Strat
Snow strat
This is how John plays them live, I’ve seen them a bunch of times, therefore it’s the way they’re meant to be played
Great playing! Both guitars souds beautiful.
awesomness! both sound great!
Thank you for listing the pickups in each guitar! I had a feeling the Twang King neck would get close to JF's tone. Curious to find a good bridge to go with it. I currently have Noiseless Gen 4's that I'm looking to swap out.
And here the 1000 LIKE ❤
With RHCP all guitars Sound good
at first I thought it's a no brainer the strat would be better, but gotta say I like the tele better! Is the tele american made and could that be the difference?
The tele is a road worn series (made in mexico), but I think the neck pickup upgrade (a dimarzio twang king) helps a lot, the original one sounded too dark and muddy for my taste.
I have this two tele and strat. I love it.
Thank you for the video
Good stuff man. I like the mixing in of deep cuts from the albums
Tele sounds really good
Faut aussi ajuster la hauteur des micros sur la strat pour se rapprocher du ton de John je sais pas si t’y as pensé mais c’est important à mon avis !
Nice soul to squeeze. Great cover
I think tonewise the Tele's ae superior, or at least more pronounced and obvious. Strat sounds a bit on the easier side, still good, but not that punchy. I do like strats for the playing comfort (shape, cutout, body contour), but my ear likes beter Tele. Always :)
Just stumbled on this. Great playing buddy. I think the strat won the day by just a smidgen. 👍
Fantastic video 👌
Great playing
Tele - Bridge
Strat- Neck
End of debate.
Both sound identically...it's all about in your hands...and you are osam guitar play I can see...
great video mate thank you
Telecaster rule.. Enough said..
For me Telecaster won on almost every song, dude! Nice tone
Strat is amazing
It's that I looking for thanks😊 I'll buy the tele
Haha you kinda look like Kiedis at first glance!!
Wow what a trip that’s heavy lol
I have a Strat pickup In the neck position of my telecaster
Trust me it's the way to go
Tele sounded better except for snow in my opinion. Lacked the low end
try Jaguar - there were times he used it a lot - Jag with humbs has Tele lows and Strat highs - think he palyed single coil Jag -- this vid : Tele 4 Riffs, Strat si more funky
thank u so much
Gotta use the open D for cant stop
Bro didn't know Anthony Kiedis was this good at guitar
You are right so similar ! :D
Depends on the song you wanna play.
Can’t stop: Stratocaster
My lovely man: Stratocaster
Soul to squeeze: Telecaster
Scar tissue: Stratocaster
Mellowship slinky in B major: Telecaster
Give it away: Stratocaster
Snow (hey oh): Stratocaster
1st place: Stratocaster
2nd place: Telecaster
I wish I could dislike this comment twice
@@hilify why?
@@RiotofDoom the telecaster sounds better in all of them according to me. Well, to each their own I guess.. :)
@@hilify don’t get me wrong they both sound amazing I wish I could have both
i agree 💯
Anthony playing John's guitar parts.
my solution : one of each !
Great playing! What kind of amp stack is this?
Fantastic😀💯✌️👍👍
Super
Telecaster
tele win
bridge pup tele, neck pup strat sounds better I guess
I thought the Strat tone sounded fuller.
8:50 snow
cool comparison. which effects did you use for RHCP sound?
Thanks ! OCD to add a little more crunch (always on) and boss ds2 for distortion (in the begining of "My lovely man").
Anthony Kiedis playing guitar? 🤔
tele!
tele always , stratocaster sound between a tele and a les paul mix like a loveable mud not pure
Tele all day every day.
Anthony Keidis?
Pick up positions for the tele?
Bridge for Can't stop and Give it away, neck for all the rest.
@@thomasdugarageWow, seriously?! And all people dismisses the tele neck to be really weak and sterile yet it sounded better to my ears than the strat.
@@FIVEGO55 the original neck pickup sounded a bit too dark, that why I upgraded it for a dimarzio twang king which sounds a lot better for my taste.
@@thomasdugarage oh so it was upgraded. I see, thanks for the info I might have to get that pickup too when I finally get my own tele.
@@FIVEGO55 totally worth it given the price.
Tele 😍
Tele
which is which
Telecaster is yellow, strat is the sunburst.
Lol 😆 the one with white plate near pick-ups is Statocaster, the one with black is Telecaster
holystrat he looks like RHCP's vocalist
Dave Grohl training for play in Chili Peppers
can anyone tell me what amp head this is please?
tiene toda la pinta de un plexi
50 watt , 4 holes... jtm or jmp.
wait you kinda resemble Anthony keidis a bit
Strat = Jag, Tele = Mustang
Telecaster wins
Vote for telecaster
TELE se garcha a la STRAT
Cuánto ignorante... Por supuesto que no. Por qué te crees que Frusciante usa la gran mayoría de veces strato?
@@Mario-co7zg no siempre, usa ambas 50/50
@@hectorjs9922 No siempre, pero 50/50 tampoco, usa muchísimo más Strato
