Enjoying the night, eating, drinking, talking about their passion, and of course doing street photography! This is the kind of videos that i like, wonderful. I really like your shots guys!
The amount of passion Lukasz has for the little things is intoxicating and very influential. Great footage of him explaining himself and show what he loves to do.
I've rewatched this video several times at this point. I love watching the process and hearing the thoughts behind the photo, it's really cool to see, glad you guys met up again to make more videos!
I've been going to Tokyo since 1977. I go regularly every 2 years.. I love this place. I will be there next October. Tokyo by night is great. Great video thanks.
Saw the 38:33 time and thought maybe it’s too long, I’m tired, it’s bedtime..... Stays for whole video and wishes it wasn’t finished. Good video as always.
Very interesting, enjoyable video! Lukasz' photos are very nice. I really appreciate him sharing his settings -- I found myself asking that question within the first four minutes or so. Thank you Lukasz and Samuel!
This video could have been 3 hours long and I would have loved it. God damn. Thank you so much for this upload. Truly inspiring and simply lovely to watch!
Loved his approach to settings and his simple explanations. Inspiring… And such a great notion about the ‘machinery’ of the city…. Dream/reality A photobook by him would be really worth having.
This video is a gem on your channel! Opened my eyes about night street photography. Love how Lukasz share about his vision, techniques, down to the camera settings and reasons why a D4, lol! You guys seems had a fun long night 😁
This makes me nervous to go to Tokyo...because I think every time I turn my head I'll want to take another photo. It'll take me hours to go down a single street 😆 Thanks for this tour-beautiful shots!
Thank you samuel ................ you bring great photographers with out any EGO .......appreciate that mindset ............. both of you rock in this episode
Lukasz is damn good at street. Cool you got to tour around with him, and thanks for the video. Definitely added his channel as a subscription. You got a few film keeper's too. Thumbs up.
I know nothing about photography yet I still watched till the end. There's something about capturing the look of the city without a filter (gritty) - this is good stuff.
Would love to have evenings like this. Me, a good friend, interesting places, a couple of cameras, and hours out just capturing the sights. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you.
This video was really informative, i loved every second about it. He seemed to enjoy being out, and his photos were secondary. I've seen a lot of people dying to get the shot and getting in people's faces and being excessively invasive to get a shot. This video really opened my eyes to a lot about street photography
I'm so glad that comes across, because that really is my philosophy. For me, photography is about mindful exploration of one's world. If I can get beautiful photos as a byproduct of that exploration... well that is just the cherry on top of the cake. :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this video, Samuel. Good to see Lukasz in action. Been following his work for a while now. This is such a cool series. It was this very series that inspired me to start shooting streets more often and after watching this video, I feel like shooting streets at night a lot more often than currently do.
Recently bought a GRiii and i used to watch Lukasz giving tips using the GR system. It was fun seeing him in a video even though it was ages ago. Thank you Samuel for featuring him. Hope I can book a street photo sesh with him once travel is safer. Amazingly good urban and street photographer. This video was an amazing watch during the lockdown and was as good or better than the one with Sean Tucker. Seemed like you didn’t want the video to end !
This is definitely one of the best street photography videos I've watched on RUclips. Tokyo is my favorite place to visit in the world. There is a romantic yet melancholic mood to the video. It's informative but not preachy. Moreover, the photos AND the photographers look amazing. 😉 You and Lukasz should collaborate more! 😊
@@LukaszPalkaPhoto I hope to take your workshop in Tokyo after this whole situation with covid becomes better. I'm really looking forward to learning from you. 😊
With lockdown in full force, your video was so important and helpful for me. I felt transported to another world, a world of learning, light and shadow. People and sounds, smiles and a tiny bit of fear. "We better go before the Yakuza F us up" :) Thank you both for this experience. I want to visit Tokyo so bad and do a workshop with you Lukas. I love your shooting style, both of you take good advantage of the tools, analogue and digital. Best wishes to you Sam and Lukas, and thanks again for this slice of art.
Thank you Brandon for your lovely comment! I am very happy to hear that my video made your lockdown a little brighter. This is exactly what I want my videos to accomplish. You should definitely give Tokyo a visit and I'm sure Lukasz will be thrilled to have you as a workshop participant. Let's hope we can all go back to our normal lives soon and enjoy photography. Best wishes from germany, Samuel.
@@SamuelStreetlife As the whole video was very interesting with both of you. I was in Tokyo in September, and now, I'm watching every single street photographer doing that kind of POV session, to not forget this incredible city. Your session is very good. Appreciate the way you're doing it. Thanks mate 🙏🏼 cheers from France!
Your little captions here and there were hilarious. I discovered Lukasz through the interview video too and attended one of his workshops. It was a treat watching this.
Lukasz Palka is a very good street photographer. Last October, I took his Cyberpunk tour of Shinjuku/Shibuya. It was definitely worth it because he brings you to special places that you wouldn't discover on your own. I highly recommend his photo tours, it's worth every penny...
What a great video. It feels like I’m there. And isn’t that what a big part of street photography is? Feeling like your there or that you can smell the street. Very serene and peaceful but very informative. Thank you. Happy shooting and cheers
Just got back from my first (and certainly not last) trip to japan. So happy to see I was haunting the exact same locations looking for shots! I too am a cockroach and loved those Tokyo alleyways! Beautiful video of your adventures! That area at the end near Ueno station was great! I got some amazing angles of that similar staircase on the other side of the intersection!
I am a natural teacher, but when I'm out shooting on my own, I don't think about this stuff so much. I do it without thinking and focus on the moments. :)
I loved this video. Not much more to say other than that. As a beginner photographer, this is so inspiring. I see this and I just want to be part of it. Street photography is so fun
wow, I just watched the whole thing and didn't even notice that it was actually almost 40 minutes long. Well done, Samuel! I really enjoy videos of this kind of depth. More of this, please. :-)
The most interesting street photography video I’ve seen yet, your choice of a CLE is spot on, I can’t see how a pure Leica with its clumsy film loading is what you need in the dark ! I’ve used mine for working for years in poor lighting, where no mirror and a near silent shutter gives you extra stops ... Great vibe and atmosphere, you worked well together !
Sweet video, thank you two for making it! It's been ages since I've looked at digital night shots and it does look very clean now. 5 years ago on my old digital it still looked a weird mess, noisy, bad colours! Even though it has improved, it still can't beat those Cinestill colours! I never get over those, going to keep shooting film just for the lovely colours!
Omg Lukasz i didnt know that was you, i fell in love with your ig feed for a long time now, your futuristic, cyberpunkish photos are for me mindblowing! and how you described your hidden spots made me feel like i was there too! thank you samuel for featuring him, one of my favourites videos ever.
Night photography is one of my favourite forms of photography. I think a reason why the nightlife in Asia is so great is because of how hot it is during the day. Things cool down after sundown, which makes it easier to socialize. At least that's what I noticed while visiting family in Vietnam. On the other hand, here in Canada, we tend to try to maximize our daylight hours when the summer comes because by the winter it gets dark by 4pm. Great interview. Loved hearing Lukasz's process.
Nice video as usual ! Happy to see that I’m not the only one fighting with my cap when shooting portait layout 😊. Thanks to Lukas’s who is really an interesting photograph, ready to share tips... thanks !
I really liked this guy .. he's so authentic and just explains everything so calm and it's really interesting to see trough his eyes

So much respect for Lukaz and his photography style. The output from this guy is phenomenal. It would be cool if you met up with him again. ✌️

I love Tokyo at night. It's very photogenic.
This guy's portfolio gives me Enter the Void vibes. Stunning pictures.
Thanks!! :D I am definitely a fan of that movie!

Yes, exactly. I was trying to remember the name of that movie

lukasz is really likeable. thanks for introducing him
They have such a soft and pleasant lighting in the streets.
I love the how different your guys styles are.

Great video samuel! Thank you and to lukazs, beautiful imagery and great tips!
This was so much fun. He loves the city and you can really tell. The compulsion to really explore a subject comes out of that appreciation

Yeah right @deathintheballs!
May I also suggest recent japan series by @itchban. Also very meditative, very chill, great music and photos.

Great to see Lukasz in action! Manual mode with Auto ISO on Nikon is the same as TAv on a PENTAX DSLR. 😆
11:36 cool that beautiful and "chaotic" shot was made at the stroke of midnight
Haha, I think the clock is stopped. Sorry to ruin it! :)
The shot at 23:30. Amazing.
Thank you! :)
