Thank you so much, my fellow Leaving Cert reviewer! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed it so much - comments like this give me life! Less comedic, more serious videos about the SEC coming soon ;D
Thankfully I didn't study Biology, or any other science subjects for that matter, so I can't give a valid opinion on the paper; but from what I heard in my school, it was pretty dodgy! I bet you did fine anyway, and even if it wasn't great, the bell curve should hopefully be in your favour!
Mental that it's already been long enough for us to get nostalgic over those damn exams, where has the time gone! Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed😎
I didnt study once throughout the year, hardly ever did homework and ended up getting 400 points which is more than enough for any course i want to do, weird thing about state examinations is that i actually enjoyed them more than regular school days, i like being able to leave early and as my brother described them "state examinations are more of a social event anyway". I might have pissed off my mother with my lax approach but on the plus side i never got stressed about any of it
Also i decided to do the literary genre question for some reason, never answered one before but the cultural context question was making me braindead reading it over and over, worked out well enough though, got a h3 in english so i cant complain
I wish that we could all get high results without studying! Well done, that's a pretty remarkable achievement! Yeah that cultural context melted my brain, but at least we both walked out with H3's in the end!
I'll let you know in about nine or ten hours if that's the truth! It will probably be far from true though - despite my love for writing, I tend to rarely perform well in English exams! I'll be lucky to get a H4 honestly, but time will tell soon enough!
I agree that it's all a cod! A H5 isn't bad at all, that's the same number of points as an O1! I got a H3 in English which I'm super happy with, I really wasn't expecting it! I hope you're happy with your results overall and I wish you the best in college, or whatever it is you'd like to do now that the LC is over!
Ahh yeah my points are grand like Hoping to start study General science in wherever I end up. Hope you're happy with your points to congrats on your H3 that's brill.
I've watched this video so many times over the last few years and it is incredibly surreal that I am now actually doing my leaving cert. Thanks for the laughs during this trying time in my life haha. I would also just like to say that what those SEC feckers did to the Higher Level maths students was horrifically cruel and I am so damn glad that I finally gave in and dropped to Ordinary Level after Christmas because I would not have survived that abomination of a paper 1. There is no doubt that there has been zero improvement to the system since 2018 and the SEC are still the #1 cause of crying among Irish teenagers.

I'll tell you something, this video in particular did take pretty long to edit compared to other videos of mine, because this is the only video on my channel that was made before I built the PC I use now - I was using a really weak laptop for this and dear lord it probably tripled the time the editing process should have taken, it was a PAIN. I thoroughly enjoyed this review and partial critique of the 2018 Leaving Cert and I was interested to hear the opinions of the questions asked from a Leaving Cert student themself, even though I'm about 3 years off doing my own. I'm currently scared shitless for my Junior Cert, as pathetic as that probably sounds to someone who's done their leaving cert, and was wondering if you have any advice for me?
Thank you for watching! I think this is one of my weaker videos (which makes sense as it's my first one), so I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it! :D Honestly, that does not sound pathetic at all. I completely understand where you're coming from, because I've been in that exact situation before. The Junior Cert was actually a more stressful time for me than the Leaving Cert, because studying for State exams was completely new to me and I found it difficult to manage the workload. I was an absolute WRECK and the stress completely consumed me, and I learned my lesson from that experience and I kept a cool head when doing the Leaving Cert! While the results may not have any significance, it's important to develop efficient study habits which you can then use in the Leaving Cert, when the results will matter. If you notice yourself doing anything wrong during the Junior Cert, i.e bad study habits, not balancing the workload, learn from that and change it when doing the Leaving Cert! When I was doing the Leaving Cert last year, I was kinda just depressed all the time. In the Junior Cert, I was aggravated and I would get WAY too worked up over it, but for the LC I was calm and collected, but I was never in a good mood. Of course, you should try to do your very best, but please don't overwork yourself, don't get too stressed out over it, and don't overthink it. To summarise, just learn from the things that I did wrong. If you stay focused, stay calm, and do a decent amount every day without burning yourself out, you'll do great. You still have plenty of time to prepare for the LC, and you'll learn a lot about how to study from the JC - whatever you get in the JC won't matter the next day to be honest. Apologies for the huge reply, but hopefully you'll get something of value out of it! Once you finish the exams, life goes on, and I can assure you that life gets SO MUCH better. Best of luck in the JC, you'll do great as long as you study well and keep a wholesome mindset!

As somebody who is evidently interested in making videos, the course I'm hoping to do will entail production of films, videos, and events - modules would include post-production editing, camera operations, audio mixing, event management, visual effects and pretty much every other aspect of creating digital content! I can't say the name of the course just in case some random dude on the internet tries to track down my location, but that's a basic idea of what I'm hoping to do in college if I attain enough points!
As somebody who attained 421 points, I'm kinda jealous that I didn't get exactly 420! You shouldn't be disappointed with that, 420 is an excellent result that lots of students would love to achieve! I understand that maybe it's not enough for your course, but you have proved that you've got brains to burn, and the LC will not stop you from doing what you want to do! PKMX Your reply made me smile for the first time since I got the results. I applied for the BMus in Cork School of Music and got 600/600 for the audition so my combined score is 1020/1200 (when the requirement is normally 650/1200)... so unless the points jump by 400 points, I, hopefully, should be fine 😂 I was aiming for 470 since that would have gotten me into the majority of my courses
Having a bad teacher can be incredibly stressful especially when you're preparing for exams - however, you'd be surprised by how your grade ends up being better than expected! Your results will be great, and I wish you all the best!

You'll do just fine - as long as you keep a cool head, minimise stress, stay consistent and keep your books and folders organised at all times, your results will be great!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i can't sleep lol help
Don't worry about it! Generally, exam results tend to be much better than you expect them to be, so your maths grade will exceed your expectations! In my opinion, the most important part of the JC is not the results - it's the learning experience! As long as you learned how to efficiently study during the Junior Cycle and have built up a solid knowledge of your subjects, you'll fly through the LC!
The first year to have the exams marked by unqualified examiners though - there's some kind of problem every single year, and I blame the ineptitude of the SEC for that! I hope the LC went well for you despite that paper mixup!
I completely understand why you're perplexed about me picking Larkin - truth be told, he was my least favourite poet on the course along with Eiléan! The reason why I always planned on choosing him if he came up was because I knew it would be an obscure choice which wouldn't be very popular among students - I'm hoping that by choosing the least popular poet from this year's paper, that the examiner may mark my paper with some leniency if they get sick of correcting hundreds of Frost, Eiléan and Montague essays, which may subsequently lead to a better grade! I'll find out next week if that strategy worked ;)
I definitely see the logic behind your approach, as Eiléan was undoubtedly the most popular poet this year! However, Montague was a worthy runner-up, and I do think that examiners will be correcting plenty of Montague essays - that shouldn't affect your grade though, as long as you wrote a solid answer and kept the PCLM marking scheme in mind!
10/10 gave me ptsd

I'm really happy to hear that it was such a pleasant surprise, and thank you so much! I'm glad that the work I put into this video paid off - you have no idea how much I appreciate compliments like that! Best of luck to you too, I hope you'll get what you want!
I’ve got it this year now for fucks sake
You'll do just fine - as long as you keep a cool head, minimise stress, stay consistent and keep your books and folders organised at all times, your results will be great!
You've just brought me back to that asshole of a Stalin question.... still not okay
I will never forgive the SEC for that one! Thank god I wasn't the only one who despised that question!
tomorrow!!!!!

Maths paper 1 for junior cert was total shit
Don't worry about it! Generally, exam results tend to be much better than you expect them to be, so your maths grade will exceed your expectations! In my opinion, the most important part of the JC is not the results - it's the learning experience! As long as you learned how to efficiently study during the Junior Cycle and have built up a solid knowledge of your subjects, you'll fly through the LC!
Well at least ye weren't the first year to be shafted by mixing up the papers ..LC2017
The first year to have the exams marked by unqualified examiners though - there's some kind of problem every single year, and I blame the ineptitude of the SEC for that! I hope the LC went well for you despite that paper mixup!
Isle daphino, nice
I only play REAL music in my videos 8-)
The most important question right now, you did larkin? wtf?
I completely understand why you're perplexed about me picking Larkin - truth be told, he was my least favourite poet on the course along with Eiléan! The reason why I always planned on choosing him if he came up was because I knew it would be an obscure choice which wouldn't be very popular among students - I'm hoping that by choosing the least popular poet from this year's paper, that the examiner may mark my paper with some leniency if they get sick of correcting hundreds of Frost, Eiléan and Montague essays, which may subsequently lead to a better grade! I'll find out next week if that strategy worked ;)
PKMX I used the same approach, only less severe. I figured everyone will do NiC so i did montague.....
I definitely see the logic behind your approach, as Eiléan was undoubtedly the most popular poet this year! However, Montague was a worthy runner-up, and I do think that examiners will be correcting plenty of Montague essays - that shouldn't affect your grade though, as long as you wrote a solid answer and kept the PCLM marking scheme in mind!
so are you fully irish?
