Ahhh I learned something new: FUM+BUM & it’s a great dark color. So there’s no yellow to mix with purple to get a black or darker color. Oh wow, now I’m interested in mixing up more color combinations to see what colors I will/can get. Thanks for sharing this wonderful informational video with us!

This was fantastic Liz! This older video popped up on my feed. So VERY pleased I watched. The purple and green - not a yellow was utterly new to me, and I shall be making notes. Listening to a longtime professional artist is one of the very best ways to learn when not attending art school, or as in my case, getting a bit long in the tooth to be starting 🫣😳🤷‍♀️🖌️👩🏻‍🎨🎨❤️❤️

I was scribbling notes like mad! Ha ha FUM BUM! I hope my late comments don't bother you, I'm always late to the party (Beginning painter at 53!) but comments are supposed to help give your analytics a boost in the algorithm. You're so good that I'd love you to have a larger audience! ❤️

I love getting comments and the joy of RUclips is that things are evergreen. on the down side it does mean things are still around if you’ve changed your mind or learnt something new!

Thank you! I learned to mix black from blue and burnt sienna a while ago, and from aliz and viridian, I have an old paintbox that has real viridian in it, but the purple route is a new one form me. And you are such a lovely teacher!

that’s good to know. so many people reach for black instead of mixing. and lucky you having some of the real stuffed!

Liz..have you tried Frisk artists’ sponges? They do a marvellous clean up job at removing paint stains from plastic palettes

    • @LizChadertonArt

Are those like Magic Eraser? If so, yes I do use them but not with success on palettes unfortunately

    • @LizChadertonArt

Hi, I usual use Bockingford Not/Cold pressed. It's really economical but a great consistent quality and takes a lot of abuse even though it is not a cotton paper
