At an unsuccessful vegan outreach event in a rough part of London, a neighbouring incense stall offered us a glimmer of hope. This big friendly man behind the stall was gracious (and bored) enough to engage in a discussion about veganism.
To hold him accountable I chased him all over the map, starting by addressing his appeals to nature, health anecdotes, practicality concerns, until he finally took refuge in religious fundamentalism, where he became unwilling to budge because of my lack of credentials, despite me adopting his religious frame as my own.
I did not change the order of the arguments - only cut down the repetitions we made. He started off very receptive, then shut down as I showed how his buying habits perpetuated the industry he was opposed to. Recording this and watching it back has been very helpful for improving my debating skills.
We can see a defining moment of this discussion was when I brought up the word veganism. When I said "vegan" he instantly closed down. I expect this could be due to negative experiences with other vegans in the past.
As an ex Muslim, you can't be a vegan Muslim. It's a slap in the face of God who literally sent animals to slaughter and eat in his name. (after he almost tricked Abraham into slaughtering his own son. But hey.. God works in meatterious ways)

Maybe try responding to the argument, "God allowed it" by saying when the Qur'an was written most people didn't have a choice, but they do today. He allowed it then, but he issued rules to restrict harm as much as possible for the day. Today we can restrict harm even more, so we must do more to be halal

Bad point, objective divine morality always trumps subjective atheist morality to a believer.
You need to disprove God before you can use this point. Likewise why no humans will ever agree on LGBT and sexual activity before marriage.
Besides there are Muslims with gay tendencies who are going against their "logic" and instead submitting to God, for example Paul Williams the host of Blogging Theology.
I could see after about 15 minutes the vegan guy starting to get a bit frustrated, but he did a really good job of maintaining his composure and not insulting the guy who was arguing the Islamic perspective. But he still maintained a bit of pressure. Thank God he's doing vegan street preaching instead of Christian or Islamic street preaching because he's really good at it lol

Because he went on to absolutely destroy my entire philosophy by explaining how in California, honey bees are imported to polinate avocados for that part of the world. An ingenious and highly relevant argument nobody had ever tried before, and I was completely taken aback. I got served by this eloquent gentleman.
I'm joking. He just asked if I eat avocados and I said "no I don't like the taste". The video is already half an hour long and I tried to only show what's relevant to the title of the video.

I agree. There were many times where I would normally have broken it off. It just so happened that that night was awful with drunks, crazies and zombie commuters. He was the only person I felt comfortable with having a conversation with. DIdn't get any other good conversations going that night.

I haven't watched the video ... but I'm gonna imagine that's because vegans don't believe in actual science. They believe in fake sh like the "china study" and are still repeating the Kellog line that carbs are great for you. And red meat will give you a heart attack if you look at it sideways.
I guess I found it funny that he sounded so triumphant, being able to recall an old phrase from the back of his mind, as if that was check mate. he was absolutely wrong.
I already said in the video; the farm animals we're talking about are quarrantined populations, whose numbers are carefully controlled by the supply chain of the food industry. They bread (often by hand) the exact number they know they are going to sell. Any more than that number will negatively affect their profit margins. Many of the animals are no longer even able to breed by themselves due to generations of selective breading. Cow and pig breads are almost 100% inflated through artificial insemination. These 80 billion land animals have never interracted with wild animals unless by accident (like a farmer leaving the gate open).
He was committing a pretty obvious fallacy of both wanting humans to be seen as distinctly separate from wild animals (having utter dominion over them ordained by god / controlling their lives with technology inherited from previous smarter generations), and yet also wanting to be so intimately involved with wild animals to call himself part of the "food chain".
- Despite not contributing anything to said food chain, and the sited food chain example being thousands of miles away in one of the last patches of wild land left alone by animal agriculture. Him eating a hamburger doesn't feed into some profound romantic cycle of life, and he's certainly not in a give/take relationship with the food chain.
On a deeper level, the "food chain" is a naturalistic fallacy - trying to imply that something is morally justified merely because it is "natural". There are countless examples of nature not being moral, just, compassionate or fair. Unlike any other wild animal, we have the power, the self-awareness and the CHOICE to transcend the cruelty of nature, and yet when it conveniences us we pretend to be bound by nature.
But let's extend this implied logic a bit further. I guess a navy seal with night vision goggles is higher than you on the "food chain" and can kill you in your sleep for enjoyment without any moral questions being raised. SHOULD he kill you just because he can?

Taken a look at the website There is no restriction in Islam in eating meat or veg as long as it is permissible halal there is no one side or the other it’s down to choice if we want to eat meat we have a method to do it and a process to follow simple as, we have the created structure to breakdown and digest both - and the pet question you haven’t answered it - let me make it simple if you had a pet dog or cat what would you feed it? Not interested if you own it or not and all that life story just a simple what food would you give it

Veganism as a philosophy is considered kufr (disbelief in Islam), a false religion which guarantees you eternal h3ll because you accuse Abraham and the prophets of sin and their religion as false.
However veganism as a lifestyle is permissible, if you don't like the taste of meat or for health reasons, but you cannot believe that eating meat is wrong/sinful.
Likewise abusing animals is also a sin (and yes animal abusers also go to hell). Only harm animals are allowed to receive in their life is slaughter for eating.
You are not allowed to ever override the law of God. Read Qur'an 9:31
If - like you said - abusing animals is a sin, that means millions of Muslims across the UK like this gentleman are living a life filled with sin and will supposedly go to h3ll.

If Allah is so merciful, and Muslims believe that Allah is the Creator of all Creatures in this Universe or at least on this Planet Earth, then how can Allah revealed Islam to a human and not a Lamb or a Goat or a Cow or any other species? This proves that Allah considers Humans to be most responsible and conscious beings. In that case, any Muslim who goes against Allah by slaughtering innocent animals, technically becomes a Kafir.
Ughh... 1500 years and Islam never reformed. What can we expect... As long as there's Islam, there's gonna be non-Vegans, coz EID Qurbani is a festival no Muslim can celebrate without slaughtering an innocent animal and eating it. If EID Qurbani can be changed in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, etc. to become a Qurbani / Sacrifice of a bad habit or donating some money to poor or even helping abused animals, then maybe we can see a ray of hope.. Till then, I have no hopes as there are 57 Islamic countries and 1.8 Billion Muslims.
If Islam becomes a Vegan religion, then 75% of all world problems will vanish.
I can see a potential future where the majority of Muslims become "liberal muslims" and there only remains small pockets of fundamentalists where they carry out these traditions as they were written.
The fundamentalists may come under increasing pressure from the liberal public and secular governments. We have seen this play out in other religions. But yes it's frustrating how much time could be needed for this to play out.

You can check out many Ex-Muslim debates, discussions where they reveal the absolute truth about Islam and why there just cannot be a moderate Muslim as a Moderate Muslim is not considered a Muslim at all. Moderate Muslims exist as a face for the so-called religion of "PEACE" just so that world never learns truth about Islam. But my faith is on Ex-Muslim community who help other Muslims in Arab world leave Islam and perhaps encourage them to try Christianity or Buddhism or just any other religion or even adopt Atheism, but Islam. Ex-Muslims also help as non-Muslims learn about Islam so they don't get converted.
I can be a Christian, Buddhist, Jew, Zoroastrian, Hindu, Yazidi, Atheist, Agnostic, etc. all at once and nobody gonna kill me. But once I convert to Islam and leave it, then I have to keep myself hidden for life as Apostasy and Blasphemy have death penalty in Islam as per Sharia. At least the West reformed Christianity & Judaism so much that it's light-years ahead of Islam in that there's no Apostasy, Blasphemy or Sharia Laws.
There are 57 Islamic countries and 1.8 Billion Muslims spread across the globe including non-Muslim Secular Democracies. If Islam was as Secular and Democratic as other religions, then we wouldn't even have 57 Islamic countries, but 57 free Secular Democracies with peaceful and open-minded Muslim majority. In this case, anyone can go and preach any religion in Islamic countries without fear. Likewise, anyone can go and preach Veganism fearlessly in the streets of Muslim countries. It's only a hope and a dream that Islamic countries focus on reform rather than radicalization.

I wonder if some of you half wits realize you're just doing the marketing for big corpos trying to to cut costs by selling wheat water (now with an extra dose of chems) or "plant meat" (basically pure salt with added chems) because its 1000x cheaper to produce, while you can sell it for a premium to these brain fog zombies who think they are saving the world by poisoning themselves and depriving their bodies of vital nutrients
