As a native american, the only time I cut my hair is when a loved one very close to me dies, my tribe follows a tradition of braiding ones hair, cutting it off and laying it to rest with the person we loved, in a sense it's so apart of us returns to the earth and apart of us remains with them. My son grows out his hair to donate it. It grows so fast and he has beautiful curls, gets the gorgeous curls from his dad, not my straight as a doornail hair. He’s done this three times now in honor of his great aunt who died of cancer.

I have bags of mine and my kids hair over the years. I pulled them out yesterday and me and my now adult kids got to see how all our hair has changed over the years. The colors, textures, beautiful. Love that there are other hair collectors our there. 💜🤘
