Yeah, seasons 3-6 Kurt felt so shallow and bland. Making him become Rachel's gay best friend really made his character decline and become more boring. His peak was the first two seasons for sure
It bothers me how some people say "It was obvious" because it doesn't, what you wear, like, doesn't define your sexuality. Kurt has his personality and being gay is just a part of who he is, his personality and his tastes are another part of him. You can have his personality and not being gay like you can be gay and having other tastes you know. I feel like before the coming out Mercedes was the only one being right, she didn't make any conclusion just seeing which clothes he was wearing or what music he liked.

I think I was 15 when this aired, and although I (as most people) knew Kurt was gay, this was the first time I had ever watched a character so young coming out, and the beginning of a journey to one amazing boy that became my role model.
This is sorta like me, my friend came up to me and was all like:" im gay" Me'"And I’m bisexual, now do you want the rest of my sandwich or not?." So he ended up giving me a cute handshake and he's all like “I'll take that sandwich!" And we just spoke afterwards lol
She didn't "steal" him. They just have more in common and therefor more to talk about. Also nobody can steal a person as that person themselves decides what he/she wants to do.

I remember watching this for the first time in the seventh grade. Before this, every time the word "gay" was used, it was with the same negativity as "slut", so seeing this scene put me into a sort of moral shock. I mean, homosexuality being an OK thing was a completely outrageous and novel concept to me at the time. Eventually, my mom banned me from watching this because she didn't like how sexual it was. It would be three years before my outward position on gay-ness would change (inwardly i still hate being gay--fucking sucks), but this planted the metaphorical seed.

The only thing I would say is that no, he doesn’t have to tell anyone, he should be encouraged to wait until he’s ready, not to feel pressed to come out to a certain group. I love this scene though. Mercedes’s reaction is so supportive and I like to be reminded of that kind of person.
I didn't realize how important having a character like Kurt was in Glee at THAT time. I always wondered why he had to hide it and I realized damn. He perfectly represented the struggle of queer teens afraid of coming out. Especially when we weren't as open to LGBT at that time. Amazing how we progressed in just a decade.
I was 5th grade when ppl started watching glee and the first thing I ever saw of it was the single ladies episode and I was SOOOO uncomfortable. Then come 7th-8th grade when I watched it properly. Glee taught me so much about acceptance and the storyline up to season 2 and a bit of season 3 was great. Though I stopped watching by the end of season 4 because it just wasn't the same anymore, Glee will always have a special place in my heart. It made me who I am today so thank you so much Glee. What a fantastic TV show
This scene hurts me because Kurt reminds me of when I was 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and in the closet. Just in my early twenties I truly came out (to friends and people in school), at 18 I only came out virtually, on social medias to strangers. Not all my family knows. But I post things on my Instagram' stories not caring a bit. Maybe in my thirties I will come out fully.
Well, be careful. I do not recommend coming out to strangers online. They could out or harass you, perhaps for others to see online. As for your family, I'll level with you and admit there _is_ a possibility they'll be pathetic about it, like Santana's grandma. I would only come out to the ones you fully trust. i understand why people are disappointed with the fact that Hummelberry replaced Kurtcedes, but actually this is not so weird. sometimes friends just grow apart and talk less, that's just how it is.... i think his friendship with both of them is beautiful (even though Hummelberry sometimes looks like a one-way relationship, but well..) and maybe kurt just better get along with rachel now

Honestly Kurt was one of the bravest characters in the show, coming out as gay in high-school and enduring all the bullying and tormenting, standing up against his bullies, defending another gay man in New York which resulted to him getting beaten up and left in an alley, confessing his love to Blaine even though he may have still been with someone else ("there's no one else") he went through so much but still came out on top
