    It's the 10 types of cubing learners! If you've taught someone how to solve a cube, you've probably encountered one or two of them.

    They turn the U or U’ face

    • @alannalyc
      @alannalyc 6 лет назад +3

      Oh my God, so true. So then I say "front" and they rotate the cube so the U face is in front. So then I trace the rotation they need to make on the cube and then they rotate the whole cube instead of doing an F...

      Well, all COLLS work as OCLLS, but if you know 2 Look oll you only know 7 COLL algorithms. The rest of the COLLs are probably completely different from whatever algs he uses for 2 look oll, even though they do the same thing if you disregard permutation.

    I recently told 3 people how to solve the cube by just teaching them the notation and telling them what moves to do (so not actually "teaching" them, just having them execute the moves), and the 2 most common things I noticed were that when I said to do an R' move, they would do an R move. Every. Single. Time. If I said to move the F face clockwise, they would move it counterclockwise a lot of the time. Even though the F face is the easiest one to know which way is clockwise!!! The second thing I noticed is that sometimes I would say "Do a U2" and they would say "Which way?" and I would reply, "It doesn't matter! It's the same either way."

    Tbh I was and still kinda am a pronouncer, it helps me remember algs so much easier than using the correct terms like F R U R' U' F' is just fru-ruf, it's helpful for beginners to remember when they don't fully understand the terms from what I've seen when I taught my friends

    I just bought a 3x3 cube about a week ago after trying to solve it with a cheap one to see if I really wanted to learn it. I'm two of these. I learned through a video. And I'm a quick learner. I had already memorised half the steps before purchasing a real one and I managed to solve and memorise the whole thing less than an hour after I bought it. My record is 2.24 minutes it's not bad in terms of how long I've done it, but in this one week my time has gotten quicker. If I can get less than a minute I'll be content.

    the pronouncer is actually very helpful sometimes for learning algorithms but then i remember it and can say the actual notations

    One time I was trying to teach my friend how to solve a Rubik’s cube (still am) and I gave him this paper on how to solve it like I do, and every time I ask him,”have you learned the algorithms?” He says,” I cant memorize them! The are so complicated!” And then I say,”I learned an algorithm in 30 minutes! What do you mean it is taking you over 3 months to memorize 10 algorithms?!” This is so annoying!
