Serves where something I wasn’t really comfortable in doing when I went to my practices, but now, after seeing your videos on serves, ive gotten much better and have surprised myself with them. So thank you so much!
Aw thanks! I'm glad that you are becoming more comfortable and before you know it you'll be jump serving!
In the morning I finally figured out how to Serve in was so excited
haikyu
I always use an underhand serve and I always spin the ball before serving it because, secretly, it usually makes it harder for the opposing team to hit the ball back.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
It's here just for you!!
TURN IT UPPP haha sorry Lizzo 💀
Turn it upp!
Change your prof pic befire i stab my self
TURN IT UPP
As a guy on a volleyball team, its fairly common to see jump serves, which is why i decided to go for a jump float serve. Its easy to do (for me) and since so many other teams are used to receiving normal jump serves, they have a harder time receiving it.
I have a feeling you're gonna basicly be my online coach while I practice over the holidays
i-
i’m two years too late to start learning how to do overhand. it’s official i’m going to be a libero with my noodles for arms✨
How old is not too late?
im short and i have short, skinny arms. im the perfect volleyball player 😀
just imagine a bow and arrow. stay calm and ;elieve that your arm is stiff. also exercise lift 8lb weights
lol i look like a stick doing an overhand serve
My arms are really long and I’m average height
When I first started volleyball, I most commonly did the underhand, but progressively started to do more overhand and float serves. After seeing your videos, i think i got better in a way compared to when I first started. Tysm!
I'm getting way better at my standing overhand 😌 i attempted a jump serve for the first time today omg that's hard :')
As someone who does mostly jump serves, the toss is the absolute most important part. You want to through the ball higher than you think because when you hit that ball, you want to hit it with your whole hand.
I almost did a overhand serve yesterday. It didn’t go over the net but it’s the first time I’ve hit it well, like you can feel when you hit it right and it’s a great feeling!
I'm in the highschool volleyball team thanks to you! But my JV season had already ended so I'm just practicing with Varisty now~ But I love doing the jump serves a lot~♡ I started to get way better at it now!!
I love your videos a lot, they are so helpful for people that want to learn or play volleyball ,Thanks coach koko!
Hi koko I don’t know if I should try out for volleyball, I love to play it and I I’m pretty decent. But I’m just scared of messing up during tryouts or if I mess up while I’m playing on the team and let them down. Help please ilysm!!!
Please do try out! You have nothing to lose by trying out but everything in the world to gain! It can lead to such great experiences for you!
Thank you so much I will start training with the club, they have these like clinics I will try to do one then hopefully try out! I just feel like they all will be so much better than me :(
@@gabbyyy5294 When you go to a clinic, you have to remember that everyone hasn't started from the beginning. Please don't compare yourself as you are your own person and player!
Koko Volley thanks so much! It really helped!
Just practice, and you'll be fine once you're comfortable
Thank you so much Koko, such a great video.
Starting high school and my tryouts are this month so this video and your channel is really amazing and super helpful! Thank you!! Hopefully I'll make it!!
I’m a fifth grader and I can do a jump serve since second grade 😝 and just this year I learned what a float serve is now and I love it
I have pretty much adapted to using the Jump Serve. Basically I hit around 95% of them. The Overhand is something I also need to practice considering I started Volleyball in January. I'm now considering joining my high school volleyball team as a setter.
Dude I love this channel so much! I’m trying out for volleyball in October wish me luck :D
Omg this helped me so much! Thanks KoKo!
Great video! Thanks!
After seeing you videos I'm better at serve!! So, thank you so much :D
Best volleyball channel ever, thank you so much.
Personally, I believe the jump serve is much harder to learn because of the high toss and timing. Also at a higher level, a jump serve is more effective because it tends to have lots of spins that can throw off your opponents.
The jump float is easy to learn if you hit the ball with the right part of your hand.
Personally, it took me much longer to learn the jump serve than the float.
Love your videos Koko!! I am only 13 and i can already do the jump float for some reason??? This video helped me get a better understanding of it so thankyou!!
i started playing volleyball when i was in 4th grade and the first serve i learned was an overhand serve. I say that i have improved in alot in a year
it my have been 12 in the morning when this was posted but this video is really good💕🏐
I do a jump serve but I wanna learn jump float serve so I'm exciting to try it out
My favorite part of Volleyball is serving my favorite type is the standing float but with training I'm hoping to add a jump into it
I learned my overhand serve so now I'm trying a jumpfloat serve
Perfect timing! I have a game today!
There is another serve that i created when i was younger and ive never seen anyone else do it. Basically its like a high speed jump float that causes the ball to move very erratically but very fast leaving the opponent with little time to react. You do this by throwing the ball up like a standard jump serve but instead of using an open palm to serve you have to make a fist. The form you need to hit the ball almost mimics a pitcher throwing a baseball.
Hey Coach Koko! Do you have any tips for outside hitters that are 5'4 and shorter? Sometimes I get nervous when I go up to hit because the girls are TOWERING over me 😭. I just started the season for Freshman highschool and would like to get some tips for jump serving as well! Thank you so much for a of your videos! I have been following them since I started to tryout for middle school and they've helped me improve A LOT.
Hey there! Yes! If you are attacking the ball, it may be a good idea for you to attack the ball 5 feet off the net because it can help with your height. This will also give you more vision of the court. Now with jump serving, I would first start working on your backrow attack and then moving into the jump serve as they are very similar.
@@KokoVolley Oh my goodness thank you so much!! This helped in practice today! Thank you for the advice and videos!!
i'm 13
my height is 5'1
Also, i'm male

I dont know ANYTHING about volleyball but i trully want to play sports, and i chose volleyball,so this is a great help to learn!just need to wait for the pandemic to end so i can practice it
Get a ball and try practicing at home that’s what I did and she has videos for literally almost EVERYTHING. I tried out with only knowing how to do things from videos and such and wasn’t that comfortable with the ball and my coach noticed that and I didn’t make it. Believe me it’s heartbreaking when you really want to join so practice!
HIIIIIII, I LOVE YOU SO MUCHHH YOU MADE ME WHO I AM IN THE VOLLEYBALL WOLKD!!!!
Awwww that's so sweet of you to say!
I just learned how to jump serve two weeks ago and had a tournament and I got more than 6 serves over by the way I'm 11 and love you videos
I'm in grade 8 in canada and I have been using a jump serve or topspin for my serves
So yea I have to do volleyball in my gym class thanks for making this I'm saved!
my favorite and will be mu main serve is the jump float its one of the best for me the formation, the. accuracy of the ball
Whoa!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 so cool!!!!
I’m a fifth grader and I can do a jump serve since second grade and just this year I learned what a float serve is and I love it and btw I’m a boy so that’s why I’m very old to jump serves cause boys can usually hit harder than girls not being rude but it’s true some girls can hit harder but yeah and I think this is my favorite sport and thank you koko
hello this is the 1st time I’ve seen your video! I really appreciate it I made a serve called “ceiling serve” originally found from the anime haikyuu you jump and throw the ball really high and it lands in court.
Ceiling serve is sky-ball serve when Hinata went to brazil for beach volleyball lol
My favorite serve is a standing topspin I haven’t really perfected it yet but I’m only in 7th grade and my neighbor used to play for 2 years and he could barely get it up so I think I’m pretty good for now
I would use both jump serves and jump float serves if I knew how to do them, usually I would jump float serves and then some very strong jump serves when they get used to the speed of jump float serves, if I had the skill to do so
At my current skill level I know how to do standing floats but I can’t do them stably so they end up being normal overhand serves
I love doing the regular overhand… especially when I hit the ball in the net at least 90% of the time
I'm trying to learn how to do an overhand serve, and I start volleyball tomorrow at my school, so I'm going to ask my coaches if I can practice longer. And I know one of the coaches, he was my basketball coach last year
I just cAN NOT consistently do an overhand serve but for some reason my wonky half jump serve did ok yesterday
There should be like a wind or chance serve where when its really windy the server spins the ball into the air instead of just throwing it and then spikes it. The wind would make the ball move any direction so its not predictable
I’ve never played volleyball before and I’m very interested in it and want to start a club I’ve been watching your videos and they honestly have been the most helpful than anyone else I’ve talked to or watched videos of I feel confident I can practice now thank you so much !!
Haikyuu kiddo ow

I need some advice my volleyball tryouts are in November and I want to know what things I need to know pretty well.
Just want to say
I never see a vid about volleyball without haikyuu fans in the comments-
i know we are everywhere 🤸♀️🚊
I'm working on both types of jump serves. I'm better with jump floats at the moment. As for the jump serve, I can never get the hang of my serve toss. i need to work on that before I can work in hitting it harder
Yes with the jump serve, the toss is the make or break factor! Once you understand your toss and your stride, then you are able to hit harder.
Hey I love your videos I really wanna join volleyball but I’m only 4’8 or 4’9 but overall I think that your videos are amazing and I really hope I get to join volleyball:) you keep making your videos
Hi koko! I was wondering if you could give me a tip on how to serve better, i cant seem to hit the ball right for my overhand serve because it bounces off of the ground instead of going over a net, and it cant seem to get it to go far
FIRST OMG I LOVE YOUU😩😩
Heyyy love you toooo!
I’m probably gonna Practice overhand serve and Jump float
heyy i have a question. in your opinion when do u think is to late to start learning to play volleyball/ join a team?
i like float serves and strong jump serves
I jump serve but if my arm hurts or something or I’m tired I do overhand float
I do an jump topspin most of the time it's is unpredictable as she says in the video but with lots of practice you can get some consistency and eventually be able to use it in games
I've been playing for about two years now and my best serve is a jump float
I've played on two club teams
wow the games in the background make volleyball look so hard :')
I have tryouts in 2 hours in so nervous 😟 put it’s always good to stay positive 🙃😚
I know its been half a year but how did it gouuuu
@@andrejknezevic654 lol it has been a half year but thankfully I passed and now I’m a pretty good player my self
Koko could you please recommend a online site to buy the best volleyballs. I need it to train !! 😌☺
could you by any chance make a video where you show us how to dive correctly? 👉🏼👈🏼 or did you already do a video like that? o: (if yes i’m sorry i didn’t find it)
What about curving the volley ball on a serve? Is that it’s own thing or does it count as a floater or top spin serve
Hi Koko... I’m a newbie to Volleyball and I’m kind of insecure about my skills. It’s hard for me to not compare myself to others, so I don’t want to join a Volleyball team. Is there any advice you have for me?
This is exactly what im feeling currently too 🥺😭
So you don't want to join a volleyball team but you want to just improve your own skills? Volleyball is a team sport tho..
@@zoupyzoup7989 i don’t want to improve my skills on my own, but in a team sport, the more experienced players can become narcissistic since they’ve been in a team since day one and i feel really out of place. but screw that, i don’t like volleyball anymore
@@user-gv5hm8po6b i play it n i was like that n promise me most experienced players are just helping ppl they wont act like jerks js bc they're experienced
Hey, late reply, but try to find some friends, maybe outside or inside school to practice volleyball with
My specialty serve is the "I'm technically left-handed but lemmie just serve with my right because it won't go over with my left" I'm learning to hit with my left hand from the opposite position now and I've gotten like one or two in so yay.
Hi! Fellow leftie here you may go through trial and error with both hands as lefties the world is made for right-handed people but you should own your uniqueness as for serving once you find that balance and what you need to succeed whether it be leaning into your serve, jumping, or even taking a step back own it and gain some repetition with it and if you have a special spot on the court you know you can serve with utilize it as long as it works for you and it works for regulations best wishes and goodluck
@@tradistics1070 :O thank you
i only know a couple of serves a power serve a jump float a spike serve and a jump serve
do you have to have your overhand serve completely down to learn standing float?
Its hard to tell if I'll hit it over the net beacuse I dont have a net (I practice at home) and I dont know if im doing good or not 😥
The spike at 04:12 was so strong!
Skyball is a valid useable underhand serve that can be harder to recieve
Hey coach koko, I’m having trouble with my timing for a spike. Can you help with that?
yea same
I'm leaning how to do a jump serve
my favourite serve is oikawa serve >:)
My favorite serve is the jump serve
I really want to start playing volleyball, but I have no idea where to do so. I don’t really know of any courts I can just go to nearby. Do I have to sign up for a team to play?
Please let me know if she answers
YASSS
I’m new to volleyball well I have never played a game but every time I try them serves I caught touch the ball with my whole hand
Plz help... I am also very short and I want to be a setter but I think I am too short to be
I do a mix of a top spin and jump, it’s kinda weird
side spin serve is also a serve??
What's the difference between a overhand serve and a float?
Hello.Noob quiestion: is it legal to serve with 2 hands? ty in advance
OMGGG I’M EARLYYYY :DDDD
Guys I got my first serve ever tonight! Whooohooo!
Oh my gosh I know that this is the best feeling ever right?
I got my underhand serve own and know I can overhand. The problem is that I get nervous in front of my team and family. Would you have any tips?
Overcome it
What is a under hand serve?!
I can’t jump float but I have a killer jump serve lol
I Love u Koko volley
Awww thankssss!
Can I get a shoutout?
I’ve been practicing my jump-serve I’m getting better, I’m only 10 so, if I can do it all of you can do it
Hi guys so I'm gonna join school's volleyball team but I haven't played it before ;-; so I have a few questions like does your hands and arms hurt? Any easiest position? I would really appreciate it if you reply if you have played volleyball before thank you :)
I just started playing this year for tryouts and haven’t practiced beforehand (which was a mistake) and geez did everything hurt. Your legs are gonna hurt from receiving and squatting, your arm and hands are gonna hurt also from receiving(and with being a beginner comes a lot of mistakes I’ve learned the hard way so be prepared to receive the ball with your hand on accident), you shoulder is probably gonna hurt because of improper spiking and overhand serving forms... but it’s for the game so keep being optimistic about it while enjoying practice and you won’t even notice. Try to look like you always want the ball and be eager about it so your coach notices. And if you make a mistake or don’t make the team just keep practicing and find a position that suits you best.
@@samirajacob3449 is there any good exercises you learnt that I can do at home? I want to be prepared
She posted a video on things you can do at home. Check that out and you’ll be fine. I use the wall and land at the side of my house to practice almost everything, so make sure you have some place to practice before you get all excited
Hey koko, i love ur channel sm and i was wondering if its okay to start volleyball at age of18?
it's never too late to learn!
I can't do any of the serves except for spin serve
i do standing float
underhand, overhead, forearm pass and block
What grade did you start
What is best for 6th grade? I’m in 6th and just learning volleyball so I need to know! xx✨
French roblox same here
hellooo im at 7th grade lolol
Just train your normal overhand serves.
I actually can't do an overhand serve so until I learn overhand I can't play Varsity. Learn your overhand! Still, my coach says I'm the best short ball server on JV but I can't play varsity until I Overhand serve. Although, you can still score points I once scored 9 in a row with 3 aces but overhand is sooo much easier to earn points. As an underhand server the only way I push points is by using strategy to find the weaknesses in defense (Sometimes I can't serve because the defense is really good)
I can't serve at all and still got on the team because we have a pitch server
When I do a overhand serve the ball NEVER hits my palm, can you give me tips on how to make it always hit your palm?
Timing is key
I’m trying so hard :’) .
You can do it!
