I made a Huge Mistake while installing the door on the Bunkhouse!

  • Welcome to my off grid shed converted tiny cabin. The project today at the weekend homestead is installing the door and starting the exterior siding on the bunk house. The maple sap has been slow to run so I decided to knock out a little progress on the build. Like always, the door install did not go without issues. I think you've all come to expect some snafus by now. If you enjoy laughing at my mistakes this video will not disappoint. In the end progress was made. Little by little this debt free build is taking shape.

    The only people who would give you any grief for such a mistake are those that have never built anything themselves. As a project manager, I have seen pros make mistakes on the simplest tasks. It can happen to anyone. The difference between a pro and an amateur is how well they hide their mistakes
    You deserve props for the fact you chose to show us the mistake, when you could clearly have edited it out

    I've been building for 50 years and I still get rough ins wrong at times, don't sweat it just keep going, your doing well. Ignore the trolls nobody cares what they think. I was going to say treat them like Jesus treated the Pharisees but changed my mind. Just gracefully ignore them. Keep your heart open to the leading of the Spirit. I've done that same thing with hitchhikers. Don't know who was more blessed by it, them or me.

    When you are up front about having zero construction experience and make a mistake, it doesn’t make you an idiot. You are learning. Most folks wouldn’t have the guts to tackle a project like this. Much less doing it alone. You were the angel that God sent to help that gentleman get home. The feeling that you had before you turned around and picked him up was The Lord speaking to your heart. I’m glad you listened. ❤

    Did you see the news? WV Eastern Panhandle is on fire. Worst nightmare for people there. A lot of people live in the woods. Thankfully we did a fire break and debris cleanup 200yds diameter around camp last Oct. Extreme high winds and fires have a tendency to crown out. Let's pray that does not happen. Made me think about all the wind damage you have there. I hope you can find the time to work your way out away from your cabin camp and clear it out more. Prayers for all the people and first responders. News is saying citizens are working alongside firefighters with shovels and rakes to try and get ahead of it. Tractors and bulldozers are uniting everyday people together to put up a fight to save other people and structures.

    Hello friend. I have a suggestion. To the guy who told you that you were hurting your dog by letting him into the car, tell him that a friend from Polish (that's me) advises that a guy should put ice packs on his head every morning. It helps to eliminate dullness of mind. As many times as River wants to enter his cave, let him in as many times, because he feels safest there. Much health to you.

    First try! Nice work. Any tips on how to keep mice from nesting in the grill?

    • @TRERUNSWILD
      @TRERUNSWILD  6 месяцев назад +1

      So far I've been lucky with no nests. But they do tend to clean any scraps off the grates. That's why I always Burn it super hot to sterilize before I cook.

    Nice choice of door, I really like it. Your not an idiot, I admire your vision and chasing after it. Note to self, clean up as you go. You did it, looks great!! I love Duluth, my brother lived there for 6 years in a cabin and had a bear that visited him daily and especially liked when there was left over spaghetti. He did lawn maintenance and snow removal. He passed away in 2021 and I miss him so much! Thanks for listening to God and turning around and giving that man a ride. You know what is best for River dog, he is a happy pet! Your place is taking shape and looks amazing. Thanks for your hard work filming and editing and sharing with us. Have a great safe week!!

    Morning terry I saw your video the other day but as usual I saw you on my tv as I like to watch all my favorite you tube videos I’m thinking of buying one of those gorilla carts myself you seem to use a a lot that’s good the bunkhouse is starting to come along I’m just curious what did those materials run you I remember you saying in one of your first videos I saw you in when you got your cabin delivered by the Amish you couldn’t buy the cost of the materials that it took the Amish to build the whole cabin I’m surprised you just didn’t buy another cabin from them unless of course you just wanted to see if you could build a cabin yourself and you did just that well anyways good to see you again and take care

      I'm keeping all the receipts and will add them up at the end. I now already that I'm not even going to be close. My build is going to be a lot more expensive. A few reasons. Yes, I wanted to do it myself, the build with green lumber that has a shrinkage factor, i'm a couple hundred miles from them and I'm not sure they love the drive last time.
